Does that little ring tag indicate that they are males? One of my finches have those on their leg.

What a beautiful finch- his markings and colors are stunning! It's amazing how each male has their own unique little song. My male dilute fawn colored society finch Blaze sounds much different from this one. He also taught each of his male offspring (Smudge, Cocoa, Spark, and Flash) the same little song he does. However, I've found that all of them sing different variations of the same song. Also, only the male society finches will do a courtship display and sing like this. Males do this in the presence of females, but they will also do this display/song towards other males to show dominance, or to assert their position in the hierarchy of the flock (if you happen to have multiple society finches). Since there is no sexual dimorphism between male and female society finches, you will have to take note on the different calls they have. Other than the courtship display and song that the males do, their basic communication call is a peep/tweet. The basic call of a female society finch is usually quieter, and it will sound almost like a cricket chirping, or a trilling sound.
