I’m 51 years old, I was 33 in 2005 I’ve lived in Illinois since 1972 and still to this day! Fuck Ohio state they got lucky 🍀! Still the greatest college basketball 🏀 team ever Illini!!! 💯 Go Illinois! 🙏 💯
Almost 20 years later this still holds up as one of the most dramatic finishes and best announcer calls in basketball broadcast history, pro or college. Raftery is flawless and Johnson's play by play energy puts you in the middle of the last-minute frenzy. In Gus We Trust!
The shot that rebooted Ohio State Basketball
That’s my uncle
I remember this, but I remember it much less blurry
This moment made me fall in love with college hoops as a child. Have to think Gus Johnson played a part.
I remember every detail about watching this game. I was 12 I believe. Dee Brown for Illinois was airballing all game. Great memories with my dad, grandpa, and grandma watching Buckeye basketball.
You gotta love the LeBron HS jersey right behind Matta.
As Bill Raftery would say, "How bout them onions".
3:34 storm the court Columbus
0:01 back after this
Which NBA team did he play for? Oh that’s right………NONE!!!!
why you gotta hate on him bro
@@jackbase the dude acts like he was a NBA somebody. He was a nobody riding on his brothers name
@@Mike-ji8ez yeah but playing at the collegiate level, especially at D1, is still impressive. just saw him the other day, nice guy!
I was there. An amazing atmosphere. I don’t like our basketball arena but it can get loud if enough fans come out and support. This was a monumental upset of epic proportions. I had this sense when the game tipped we would win and oddly enough we did. I’m usually wrong but I wasn’t that day!
I just noticed Lebron standing behind Matta
1:39 ONIONS
The shot that put ohio state basketball on the map
I will never forget that game! GO BUCKS!
The shot heard round the world for an OSU basketball program desperately needing a shot in the arm. Thad Matta and Matt Sylvester gave it exactly that! I'll never forget this moment!
I remembered the upset
I miss these times ):
Ill never forget the name matt Sylvester just for this moment smh i hate ohio state
the osu fans let dee brown have it... AIIIIR BALL.. AIIIR BALL
ill never forget this.
I was there too fucking insane rushed the court
Which pixel is Jeff?
Great game!! I believe the LSU comeback game was the same season as well
It was the next season. But tremendous comeback there also. Wish there was video of it. Fun fact: That exact LSU team went on to the final four.
Do you happen to have the entire game that you could upload? I'd love to see it!
I really hope someone could upload it. I was there and didn’t see it on tv. It would be worth the time to hear raf and Gus call the entire game and see it on my TV
I'm not much of a basketball fan, but I remember running around my living room screaming with my brother when he hit that shot. Gus just makes everything way more cool.
CBS needs to rehire Gus and Raf, those two are the best duo in college basketball
Truer words have never been spoken.
In retrospect Gus is the best announcer of all time and is the best duo in football with Joel lol
@@charlieballou8285no, Gus’s inarticulate screaming is so annoying.
This put Ohio State basketball on the map!
Ohio State . has been to the final 4 ten times . The most in the big 10
I'm no Buckeyes fan but this was a beautiful moment. I'm glad that they spoiled Illinois' perfect season.
them and north carolina who rolled them
Carolina beat them by 5 douchebag.
Gabe Horn North Carolina at one point was up by like, 30, in the second half. Douchebag.
Good argument. The game was also tied in the second half. Shut the fuck up.
gotta love the sullinger's if you're a buckeye fan
I was there that day! The Schott has never been louder since. I bet Sylvester was a GOD the rest of his days on campus lol
Matt Sylvester's father Mike was the only American to win a medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics!
That was J.J. Sullinger, his older bro.
I was there it was pandemonium...
wheres the volume?
yes it is
I Just Have To ASK is this GUS Johnson and Bill
that aint jared sullinger baby!!!!!!
thats his older brother J.J. Sullinger
press 3 FTW
I would have loved to have been in that building when this happened
The shot that started OSU's return to basketball greatness
this game pissed me off so much, but it's pretty cool to see looking back.
