A better option is the GoWesty 2.3 long block. They have worked all the common issues out of the 1.9 and 2.1.

I agree with the rust areas i have fixed rust on a couple and those have been the spots that went. As far as rust goes i will say that they are definitely not worse than all other cars from that time i have seen mk2's that are far worse

Is there a part 2? I think the 2.0lt motor may be a little anaemic for a T3 syncro. More power but not so much torque. Very interested to see how it goes.
