Cheap LPG Water Heater - Can it be good for less than £70?
I review a cheap Chinese Water Heater I bought for less than £70 on eBay.
Full unboxing, water test and honest feedback.

* I have not been paid or given a free unit to test, this review is my own opinion and is not endorsed by neither the manufacturer or the vendor I purchased it from.

Hi it still working?
I think out of all the crap that comes from china these hot water heaters are one of the few quality/price items that are made good . I got one for my build but think if i put one in the house i could save tons of cash instead of a hot water tank useing fuel when waters not needed ....
Mine wont heat up over 32 degrees?
Can this potentially be used for heating a small home hot tub?
Hi. Can you please help me. I've just bought one of the heaters from your video. Can you tell me about the gas tank regulator. Is it 28mbar or 37mbar? And are you using butane gas or propane lpg gas? Please can you help me with this. Cheers
It’s propane buddy 😊
What and where valve body is ?
Where do you get the batteries from ?
Thanks 🎉
How long do the batteries last ?
Unsure, mine haven’t run out after 4 years. They’re only used to provide ignition and display.
What make is it and where can i buy one ?
No make. It’s a generic Chinese water heater. Search LPG Water on eBay and similar looking ones will appear if available.

Wouldn't you recommend it to be used in home? In the place of electric water heater?
what size is that gas fitting really. the manual say 9.5mm . i cant find 9.5mm adaptors anywhere.
Best than electric, thank you
Redirect link does not woRk
THE VALVE BODY HARDNESS IS NOT ENOUGH. IT WILL BREAK! - absolutely wanna hear that from a sticker on a product ive spent my cash on - not!
Okay
Please help
I need your guidance I inststall two but I am have some issue
£130 now
Very useful information. As electricity prices are going sky high it is time to think of possible alternatives to heating shower water.Thank you and greetings from Finland!
how is the lpg consumption? How much a 10kg tank will last?
Funny review!
Does the water have to be pressured (ie pump or pressure fed) or can I just put the hose into a bucket? Hope that makes sense pal?
You will need some form of active pressure in order for this to work. Either mains water or a 12v water pump will work fine.
hi i have install waterheader 16 liters a minute can i use it for radiador central heading and if yes how to thenks
I wouldn’t advise it, I’d seriously recommend an approved domestic boiler installed by a qualified technician. This is only really suitable for part time use outdoors.
It's certainly not less than £70 anymore
As I’ve said in other comments, the price fluctuates season to season (stock levels, waiting for imports and the weather all affect demand). Buy one in the summer around May and they should be back in stock at a decent price.
Thank you for your video. Do you need a weather cover on the chimney?
I would certainly recommend that yes. I’ve seen a few campsites who use them for shower blocks and they’d built little birdhouse enclosures for them, very cool.
Great video. Thanks for that. I am considering getting one for the house domestic hot water as combis are too expensive and bulky. You need to instal outdoors due to CO but that's ok
Can’t see why not, just be safe and remember, these things are not the most well built units (as they warn you themselves) so take into consideration how long you can expect it to reasonably last safely.
Where to buy for $70 ?
You have to keep your eyes peeled and buy when they are at the right price. I bought mine on eBay and bought a second one on Amazon for £80. Sometimes the market is full, other times there’s none available.
Good video tells what you should do for basic use. Realistic commentary. Shit that's hot made me feel better bout it. Now I know where to go from here. The parts are rubbish as you say thanx
VERY Good Thanke You
Great vid! Do you know if this water heater meet the regulations for reclassifying a van as a campervan in the UK?
A camper doesn't have to have hot water or a shower to be a camper.
Possibly not due to carbon monoxide exhaust & NOX gas . Maker suggests installation outdoors
Thanks for the review!!! definitely using this to heat up my pool 😎
Great idea. So much cheaper than relying on electricity.
Really helpful mate cheers
Great video. Did you have to use a regulator on the gas bottle end, if so which one?
Thanks! I use flogas butane bottles with a flogas butane clip on regulator.
Got one but have no power when put battery in
I’ve the same problem
Can these be used indoors?
Official answer: No Real world answer: If you had it flued out properly and installed by a proper gas technician then I don't see why not, but you'd be hard pressed to find a gas tech who'd be willing to put their reputation in the hand of a cheap Chinese water heater. It's really a case of making your own mind up, and that's only if you're the only person you're potentially endangering.
Have you got a link to the one for £68? I can only find them nearly twice that amount 😩
Sadly the price for these is like the price for Bitcoin; it's up and down constantly. I bought mine in the dead of winter 2019/2020 as you can probably tell from the grey sky. Try buying one of these in the summer and you're going to get stung by international sellers hiking the price up.
This looks ideal for what I’d be looking for at the caravan to get hot water everywhere other than the actual caravan shower would just need to think of where I could Keep it
You'd have to flue it properly to install it indoors. If your caravan was on a permanent pitch then I'd make a little 'phone booth' kind of shelter for it outside and run all the piping back into the van.
What is the gas regulator rated at is it butane or propane thx
I'm currently using one of these to heat my lazy spa up instead of using the heater in the pump. Its phenomenal, heats the lazy spa up really quickly!
Me too, but i am using a 18litre 36kw heater. czcams.com/video/T7kKwRN5m3w/video.html
I'm here for that very reason, out of interest, does it save a lot of money, also what litre version of boiler do you use
@@baldrickscunningplan6154 I can't view the video buddy
This is what I was looking to do with it can I ask to you have it fitted outside are they waterproof
For those asking; they’re not waterproof, and the gubbins inside are made of very cheap steel and chinesium. I wouldn’t recommend keeping this completely uncovered outside like I did with mine (although to be fair it didn’t seem to affect how well it worked, it still provided hot water but it was very rusty). What I would suggest is maybe keeping it in your garage or shed in the dry, and then every time you want to fill up your spa, just hang it off the back of a chair, hook it up and use it as and when. In terms of cost, a 14kg bottle of gas will probably last you around a year or so if you used it a handful of times a year, and they’re around £25 the last time I checked. With energy prices the way they’re going now, I’d say relying on electricity to heat it up could result in a cost of £10 a time from cold to warm, so this represents a WAY cheaper option (and you can take this little unit camping too, so it’s handy for more than one reason). Mine is now installed full time in my camper van and it really feels great knowing I have a boiling hot shower in the van no matter where we are, better than relying on the lottery of campsite shower blocks!
Year update: WOW, didn't realise I'd had so many views and comments, I thought this video had been forgotten about. Anyway, I did in fact leave the unit out in the garden since this review, to mainly fill my hot tub up. However it hasn't been used in a very long time so I may give it a quick scrub and see how it's held up against the elements in that time. Watch this space for a new video!
Can I ask if it still works mines broken in a year
What is wrong with it?
@@baldrickscunningplan6154 clicking when I pout water on and only goes up to 28 no hotter. Was great till this winter had it since beginning of 2019. My one is 18l minute because I've had it running a 24inch rain shower. Was the bollox. I'm going to get the 12l as that's what comes out my water tower.
Mine worked fine after being outdoors all year with no cover. It was a bit rusty on the screws but the inside looked fine. However, I fiddled a little too much with the knobs and that messed up the gas regulator so it would only produce luke warm water at best. Threw it out, bought another (which is installed in the van, nice and dry).
Can I ask if it still works mines broken in a year
Not too sure, haven't used it in a while, but will fire it up this weekend and see what happens
I will buy this Water Heater for my Pool. I hope he increases the temperature from 17 to 24 degrees. My Pool is a Intex Frame Pool Ø 3,66 Meter x 0,99 Meter.
They've put a £500 postage on it now. Does it use propane or calor gas? I'm confused as to what regulator and gas to use
Calor gas, standard calor gas regulator like you'd have with a BBQ or patio heater
patio gas bottle (green top) Regulator is 37 mbar.
Hot tub heater , here i come . Obviously not installation in room .
You can install them indoors but you need to mod the boiler. czcams.com/video/T7kKwRN5m3w/video.html
Where did you get the better shower head?
Ebay, just search high pressure shower head.
Hello, the product description says it has a 20min timer. Have you found out how that works?
I had no idea it has a timer, I'll have to check this out
Yes it does have an inbuilt 20 minute shut off timer but you can get around it. czcams.com/video/T7kKwRN5m3w/video.html
sir, does this provide enough hot water to shower.
If you have a sufficient water supply then yes
Hi, is it still working. Please
I didn't know you could mount these out side where they can get wet
I'd recommend making a small canopy above the unit if you intended full time outdoor use
