Hi Taha, thanks for the beloved recipes. Can't wait to try them out! I have signed up for the pdf, keen to start shooting!
Amazing! I hope you enjoy them. Your feedback is always welcome, friend. ✌🏽🖤
No matter what film sim I use my ricoh is taking terrible out of focus photo. Can someone please look at the sample photos in the short on my page? I spent so much on this digicam HELP! Love Jeru!
I thought all the photos looked great. Each had their own charm.
Thank you. Nice to look back on these.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
hows your white balance set for each?
Great question. My extended recipes have those answers. Just email me.🙏🏽🙏🏽
Great settings. Is any specific wb settings for each receipt? Thanks
Yes! For sure. Pls email me for the extended recipes info@tahaphoto.com 🙏🏻
I actually do this with my Sony a6500 except with the instax wide printer. I do own the actual side camera but I don’t wanna bring it around lol. I tried It in Oahu years ago. Fun but eh lol, it was raining a ton and I was taking photos with both my Sony and instax while my pregnant wife waited in the car. Further context we had to wait several hours till our flight for Los Angeles and we had to check out by 11pm. All in all it was a blast. Highly recommend the wide printer
Marc! Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Awesome story. I can't wait to pick up the wide later this summer.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Are these photos edited or raw?
Definitely edited.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@tahaphoto thank you
@@tahaphoto how do you edit these photos? i am a new photographer and i'm just 16 years old i want to edit these photos but i dont know how to, please help me out.
@asmigaur1406 editing your own photos takes being curious. I cool hack when starting out is to edit one image with a handful of different filters. Each filter will give your image a different feel. Once you find a filter you like start editing like that. The basics are contrast, highlights, shadows and saturation. Move your dials to the left and right (- or +) until you get the hang of it. Any editing app will work. Snapseed is great and is a free app. Google it! Hope this helps!!!!🙏🏽✌🏽
@@tahaphoto thank you so much sir, helped me a lot, lots of love and support!
Hey, thanks for uploading the video on this model. I'm thinking of buying it but I have this silly question in my mind, how can we transfer the clicked photos into, say, a computer or a smartphone? And how did you show the photos in the video, like does it come with a port with which we can connect a cable and transfer the photos? But it doesn't make sense since it's a film camera? Please help me out here.
Great question! Thanks for asking. It's also important to always ask questions we don't know the answer to. 🙏🏽 THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION: 1. Once you finish shooting all the photos on your roll of film, you'll need to rewind the roll. (Instructions on youtube). 2. Find a camera story that scans and develops film. Google a place close to you. 3. Once they scan and develop they will email you the photos from that roll. 4. You will now have jpegs that you can post online.😊 I hope that helps! Let me know.

@@tahaphoto great image
The Ricohs seem like great cameras! My preferred EDC is my X-H1 and Voigtlander 18mm and 35mm. If I want to go even lighter, I'll take the X-T2 and TTartisan 25mm. I enjoy shooting with manual focus lenses most of the time, but I do miss autofocus sometimes.
John! I appreciate you letting us in on your preferred EDC's. Those bodies look a bit chunky for my hands, I'm assuming you've try the x100v series? Wait... these are all full frames? How do you like that 25mm TTa? Thanks for watching🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@tahaphoto haha, yea, definitely not pocketable, but still light enough to carry around the neck/shoulders. I love the Ttartisan, it renders well imo, and was only $70ish.
@@JohnDAlmonte wow. Great price. 👍🏽
Thanks for sharing the set up - very helpful 👍🏽
You're welcome, my love!!🙏🏽
Same boat for sure. One camera, one lens, spend 100% of the time on shots. I take it as far as possible too. Like manual lenses so I can just zone and not even manage autofocus. Picked a body with color I like SOOC so editing is minimal or not necessary. Just keep whittling it down until photography is as much literally shooting in the street as possible. Hope more people keep finding this video 💪
Amazing! It really is about trimming down your kit. Great insight. I appreciate you watching 🙏🏽
I agree with you 100%. I’m not a street photographer, but I am a big fan of a one camera/one lens setup. My philosophy is that if I can’t make a good photo with the gear I have on hand, then I need to improve my photography skills.
Preaching to the choir. 🙏🏽 Funny thing is, I had to have a bulky set up to realize I don't like it.🤷🏽♂️ Live and learn. Thx for tuning in🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Great vid. I remember our paths crossing ages ago. Awesome photographer. Great work.
Oh, word. I appreciate that. Hope all is well and good🙏🏽
I’m still using hipstamatic today. I have yet to translate my fav filter into a style / Fuji film recipe
Really?! That's awesome. I wish hipstamatic was available for android. I haven't used iPhones in years. How has it shaped your photography?
@@tahaphoto I think it has shaped it a lot: I mostly use it to shoot square and it helped me to embrase the analog aspect (just apply the simulation and shoot, like with film). Basically my iPhone camera is hypstamatic and it has its own character. I use a color sim and a black and white sim. I love square format so much that it led me to get a Yashica TLR on medium format film. Later on I also started to adopt this approach with my Fuji camera by shooting JPEG only for my daily life shots. It makes the whole experience better has there is far less post processing.
I'm right there with you on sq format, hipstamatic introduced me to it as well. Then I saw a lot of sq format in Vivian Maier's work. I used to love the Nike bw filter . It was all I used. I love the tones. Film plays a bigger pRt in my photography journey every year. Thx again for sharing 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I’ve recently purchased the Osmo Pocket 3 and plan to use it in future videos. It is so compact and performs beautifully.
Ah, man. You must be stoked. I can wait to transition to it. Thanks for sharing, Roger!
Good point about potentially becoming repetitive after two or so hours… I’ve made that mistake often.
Yes, indeed. It's tough cuz we always believe the "next shot" is just around the corner.😭😆
One setup that works well for me is attaching an insta360 One X to the hotshoe of the camera. It makes the camera a bit bulkier and the video quality in low light is not ideal but it's still better for me than having both hands occupied.
Ramon! I agree, I still struggle with having one free hand. It really about finding what works for you. I appreciate you watching 🙏🏽
If you really want to get results as street photogaphy, not vlogging about it, then it is one camera, one lens and it is completely solitary process. Mobile phone is just as good if not better than dedicated camera. But only if you get used to its awful ergonomics and absence of exposure controls. Dmitry Markov's work is the best example of it. And so he is proof of simple and single rule of success. You have to be dedicated and passionate. You will only succeed if you photograph something resonating with you. I remember one free Sunday between two USA locations jobs in Chicago. Early morning I meet known street photog and we both had just one Leica and one 35mm lens. We had breakfast, talked and split our ways. Because we were after different things on the street. I have seen others taking pictures on the streets of Chicago on this day. One was stopping at the spot, taking camera from the camera bag, setting the camera taking pictures, camera back to the bag, walking few steps and repeating all again. It was his process and he enjoyed it. Or photogs walking with special backpacks, full of gear. Completely idiotic approach (IMO), but they are enjoying to haul it. And it gives them confidence, which leads to good results.
As always, great thoughts, my friend! You make some solid points. My mobile phone really proved this when I began street photography on my iPhone4. I really loved going out with just my phone and focused on staying in tune with the streets. Such a special time. 🙏🏽 Hope all is well, Kostya!
I honor your philosophy. Minimal is liberating. I like to have just a bit more variety, however. Maybe two or three lenses max. Yes there is a trade off and yes it’s worth it to me. If you didn’t use Ricoh Gr what would be your 2nd choice? What do you do for lighting on talking head videos?
I understand. A variety of lenses is nice to have for sure. If I have had a 2nd camera for street, it would probably be a film camera tbh. I've had my eye on the The Ricoh GR1v (35mm) for a few years now. Ill get there!😭😆. It came out in 2001, Great feel. I really do love the Ergonomics on the GR series. I've not experienced a cam like it. I've held in my hands and at least used many of the classics. I think I just connect with the GR series. Now, with my commercial work, of course, the setup is completely different. Lenses, lighting, backdrops, tripods, flashes, etc. You know the drill. My lighting for TH is a simple video, rectangle light. Usually locked in at 5000k . Had that for years. How bout you? 2nd camera options???🙏🏽
@@tahaphoto Yeah those Ricoh cameras are legendary. Not a bad option by any means. I think you’ve made great a choice. Also heard some good things about the 35mm film equivalent. My TH setup is a Skytek soft box. Cheap and gets the job done. I have a tripod and a flash too. 2nd camera option would be Em5 iii. Preciate your videos.
@prizepictures1 solid set up! Gonna do some research. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
What does your street photography set up look like?
One camera, one lens and since I left Canada to be back to Europe, no camera bag at all. I have Ricoh GRD III (great in tight European cities for candids). If I need UWA photos, I have Leica M220 with 21mm lens. If I want just to enjoy and feel like tourist with getting of nice looking stills - Leica X2. If weather is wet or I want maximum from the gear - Pentax K5 with its plastic kit lens. But I always only take one of those. Or just mobile phone. It limits me a lot technically (no fast motion photos), but this is as light as I could get. And it is my main video camera. I also have old GoPro Hero Session - it is on my e-bike to film surroundings while I riding. I have DJI Osmo Pocket and it is totally useless, can't get my head around how to and for which situations should I use it. Clumsy and very slow to operate.
Loved this 🙂
James! Thank you for watching. I appreciate you🙏🏽
Take blurry pics. Lmao. I know those spots though so I can't bee too harsh
I'm not a big fan of clear, subway train images, they look static to me. I feel the energy comes from the motion.🤷🏽♂️
Bruh. What format do you shoot? I printed some 4:3 aspect ratio photos in 6x4 inches. Many shots were vertical, with subjects in the corners so some photos were cut off. Maybe 3:2 is better but what I really want is 2:3 without having to turn the camera vertical all the time which is annoying. My camera does 3:4 which doesn’t solve the issue but it would mean less turning the camera and adjusting my grip while also decreasing the chances to drop the thing like a hot rock, God forbid, LOL. That results in 11 megapixels instead of 20, however. I think I’m willing to take the hit but it’s still the same original predicament. First-world problems my man, lol 😂.
Lol, yes, first world probs. 😭 I usually shoot 2:3 or 1:1. There's no getting around the "perfect" ratio. 🤷🏽♂️ So instead, I go off of feel. 2:3 tends to do the trick in almost all cases regardless of composition. 1:1 has pushed me a lot over the years when you get that frame right it's pretty special. Maybe try looking back at your best images that tell the stories that move you. I think you'll start to see so patterns. Good luck!
great video!! would this be a cheaper way to have instant pics vs buying film for my SX-70? I shoot with 3 cameras and they all have their place. I shoot with a Sony A7III for my studio / editorial work, Ricoh GRII for my Street/Travel photography and my Polaroid SX-70 for special moments and BTS of my photoshoots and castings.
First off, thx for tuning in. great kit options as well! Honestly, I love shooting with my instax wide 300 and the mini8, but now I will only use those as documentation tools / bts like you mentioned. Or maybe a special project. The miss rate is easily 75% for me. These printers make everything more calculated, and coat efficient. BUT also, there is an element of surprise with how colours translate from digital to film.. ps, I still copp the SX-70 at some point.😭
I own an Instax wide printer, I enjoy using it whether it's for images from my GR3x, Fuji or Iphone. The only thing I regret is the very high cost of buying film cartridges...
I hear you. You can get so hype and spend a pretty penny. 😭 you must control how much you print. That's why I enjoy a little project with a beginning and end.😊 thanka for watching 👀 😎
you can share the recipe? thanks love the colors
Sure! Please email me.
Best to be inspired by those pioneers, but its a bad idea to try and copy their techniques. You will never be a Hass, or Leiter and you might even forget who you are in the process.
I agree. Thanks for the reminder. I sometimes call it "reminder insp". You know what they did and how they "technically" did it. Now let try the basics and build off of that! I love stumbling on a gateway or rabbit hole of creativity. So much to learn and so much to experiment with. I appreciate you watching.

is anyone else experiencing problems with the flash just a few week after buying the camera?? Great video!
I really haven't had any flash issues. Does it no longer flash? How is your battery? New or old?
You’ve def sparked my interest! Thanks for the inspiration and great examples. Thought about buying a similar printer. None of my images are square format so will want more flexibility. Do you keep an album or collection somewhere? Would be cool to fit a collage on your wall or something.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. It's been a fun, inspirational experiement. I feel I saved a few bucks because I knew what images I would love to hold in my hands. We'll see where it takes me. I have a few instax album holders coming in the coming weeks. I will try my best to preserve these. I hope you get a chance to print your works!
It works even better with a Fuji camera, you can print directly from the camera
I did some research. I haven't seen any fuji cameras that can print directly to the SQUARE LINK PRINTER app. It seems fuji cameras can only read the older printer models SP-1, SP-2, SP-3 instax printers. Do you have any of these printers?
I love that basketball hoop photo behind you - been thinking about doing a project here in Omaha all about the old, decaying basketball hoops and backboards I see in the driveways of so many old neighborhoods...
Great photo project idea! I would def get to documenting.if you watch my instax video you'll see I'm inspired by making my photos tangible experiences. You could really get creative. You gave good examples already. I wish you the best in pursuit of your dreams. Thanks again for watching 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Does Image Sync work for you with the Ricoh GR III? On my android devices the app doesnt work. I cant download photos from the camera.
My friend! Thanks for watching. Historically, the image sync app is unreliable at best. It works best for me via Wi-Fi not Bluetooth. So, I still dump my SD card onto the laptop/Google drive . Select images and then upload to phone.🤷🏽♂️✌🏽 Hope this helps. 🙏🏻
I like the guy in red walking across the it’s such a good frame , great video
Ian. Thank you. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Am I right you can print any photo on your phone’s camera roll regardless of the camera you originally used?
Yes. That's correct. If it's saved on your camera, you can access it in the instax app.✌🏽😊
Awesome video, definitely making me consider getting one
If it makes sense. No doubt. I feel we're in a time when tangible things will help us remember the memories...🙏🏽

Awesome video!!!! Im going on a really long trip soon and I might just pick up an instax to make some permanent physical memories of the places I see and the people I meet
