Summer Beans Food Plot Spraying and Update
A two-month update on the beans after the installation of the deer fence and the spraying.
the food plot has not received much rain at all this year and the deer did a number on them before the fence was put up. I used just under 3% glyphosate on the beans. It took 60 gallons on the 3.5 acres.
Thanks for watching

How to build a deer fence for food plots EASY!
zhlédnutí 368Před 19 hodinami
A deer fence is the easiest and most effective way to protect food plots. They're easy to install and fairly affordable. This is the way I have mine set up and it seems to be working very well. The poly tape and the metal clamps are from Amazon. Everything else was from Tractor Supply. Hope this helps someone! Thanks for watching.
Planting a BUCKWHEAT Food Plot with Update!
zhlédnutí 127Před 14 dny
I planted a half-acre food plot with buckwheat in May and 44 days later it has been almost completely destroyed by the deer. I seeded the plot at a rate of 40 lbs per acre. I also applied ag lime to the plot and 250 pounds of 19-19-19 fertilizer. The deer began browsing heavily on the buckwheat soon after we fenced in the bean plot in attempt to salvage what was left. The deer have also been in...
Spraying CLETHODIM and 2,4-DB on Clover Plot
zhlédnutí 200Před 21 dnem
I sprayed a .4 acre clover plot with Clethodim and Butyric which is 2,4-DB. The clethodim takes care of the grasses and the 2,4-DB takes care of the broadleaf weeds. The B is very important, and you want to make sure you don't apply regular 2,4-D. That will terminate your clover. The clover plot is starting to shape up nicely and I will conduct a follow up video in approximately 6 weeks. Thanks...
Planting and Spraying Corn Food Plot
zhlédnutí 95Před 28 dny
I planted this food plot in field corn with 40,000 units of roundup ready corn. The food plot has been in the ground for 1 month and 3 days. The plot received 1" of rain in the first few days after planting. The following 28 days or so the corn plot only received .5". 2 days before the final update the food plot received .7" of rain. So far, the corn is doing well, especially after spraying, re...
Planting Soybean Food Plot
zhlédnutí 326Před měsícem
I planted a 3.5 acre soybean food plot by broadcasting and then dragging it in. The drag did not cover the seeds enough and after a heavy rain we discovered most were exposed to the sun. The rain prior to that caused them to begin germination, but they mostly died after being dried out in the sun while lying on top of the dirt. The second planting was a lot more seed and was disced in and then ...
Discing Food Plot with MASSEY FERGUSON 35
zhlédnutí 1,7KPřed měsícem
Discing the 10 acre field before we plant the food plot. The field was plowed with a Ferguson 2 bottom 12' moldboard plow. I used my Massey Ferguson 35 to plow and disc the field. We'll be planting beans, corn, sorghum, buckwheat, sunflowers, and oats in the food plot. The first things to be planted will be the beans and corn, that video will be coming soon. Thanks for watching!
Plowing With MASSEY FERGUSON 35
zhlédnutí 540Před měsícem
I'm using a Massey Ferguson 35 with a two bottom 12" moldboard plow to plow a new food plot. The tractor is a 1960 Ferguson TO 35 model with the Z134 Continental engine. The rear tires of the tractor are loaded with fluid and the front wheels have small weights attached. The food plot is approximately 8 acres in size, but a large wet spot limited me to only 7 acres or so. Thanks for watching!
Late Planted Beans and Peas 4 Week Food Plot Update
zhlédnutí 2,2KPřed rokem
Food plot update of a late planted beans and cowpea food plot. Planted 4 weeks and 3 weeks ago. The plot also has buckwheat and sunflowers added. The sunflowers never germinated for some reason. The plot was plated in mid-August. The beans were nipped off by the deer in the first two weeks of growth but the cowpeas are still doing okay. The cowpeas will mature in 100 days. Around the 3rd week i...
Coyote Down and The Tractor is Fixed!
zhlédnutí 259Před 2 lety
I was finally able to take one of the hundreds of coyotes. A male coyote weighing around 35 pounds. It looks like I got lucky since I was reminded the following night of how inaccurate my AR is. Or how bad of a shot I am. The tractor is running fine since I installed the new cap and rotor. I also did my best to adjust the timing to 26 degrees, but it was tough. The numbers on the flywheel were ...
Planting Spring Buckwheat food Plot in East Texas
zhlédnutí 1,9KPřed 2 lety
I finished seeding most of the food plots where I hunt in East Texas. I spread the seed on March 30th and luckily had a nice rain shortly after. I planted buckwheat as cover and smother crop for my summer blend. The buckwheat was broadcasted at a rate of 40 pounds per acre. This is the first time I've planted a food plot using this method. Check back soon for updates.
Planting Buckwheat and Spraying the Oats and Wheat
zhlédnutí 541Před 2 lety
I was able to broadcast the Buckwheat in the old Iron and clay cowpea plot. After I spread the buckwheat, I sprayed the existing oats and wheat with 4% glyphosate. After watching the video, it looks like the droplets coming out of the sprayer were much finer than I liked. I got new spray nozzles that are a little larger and should help. The threat of frost should be gone down here in east Texas...
Preparing A Brand-New Food Plot for Buckwheat!!
zhlédnutí 373Před 2 lety
We cleared off an old log landing from the year before and got it ready to spread some buckwheat. After the soil temperature warms up, we will broadcast the summer blend and then lay the buckwheat over top of it. I also found a decent place for another long narrow food plot that I disced up. That is all! Thanks for watching!

He’s back! Great video brother
Thanks Tekno!
@@Johnsplots You’re welcome Rooney!
The spray did great, but the Indian Hemp is growing back already. More updates on the food plots are coming soon! Thanks for watching!!
lol how did i come to this without seeing instructions just thought maybe there was other way [[=
That dog😂
Awesome job with this!!
Cool 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video! The demonstration and directions were perfect. I'm going to get a net this weekend. I heard I should start with a 6'-8'. Does that sound right? Do you recommend a brand or type?
Thanks, i appreciate it! I used a 6', and it was a nice size net to start out with. No special brands!
Checkout how I roll mine up. That’s the most difficult part
Will do. We already agreed that if we don't roll it up properly, we might as well toss it in the dumpster. Thanks for the info!
Absolutely! Good thinking. The big reels you see hold about 4 acres one strand
Seem easy enough. Thanks for the tips. Hoping to land some fish. Thank you.
You're welcome. Good luck !
You have your work cut out for you. A lot of mouths to feed! 👍
So many mouths! The fencing sure is saving us. Thanks for watching, Steve!
first cast ... thank u sir
You're welcome
Just watched this today. I was able to throw a net and catch fish the second throw! I also showed my 8 year old son your method and he was catching fish. Thanks so much for making the video!
That's awesome!! Thanks for commenting
The new mic sounds good John!
Thanks! I think it does too
definitely agree with everyone else! short,to the point, easy, and effective! glad i found your video
Thanks! I hope it was helpful.
Best way on the internet! Thank you
You're welcome!
Thanks my man! Works great! Video is 8yrs old and people are still getting good out of it!!
You're welcome! I'm glad it's still helping ppl.
Did the rooster piss you off. What happened? Lol
Haha sure did
I'm excited to see what you get for yield...I'm optimistic! The sunflowers too.
Same! I did some calculations, and it should be a decent amount 🤞🏻🤞🏻
One man army! 👍 And yes, it takes years to get your ph where you want it. Looks good!
Thanks!! I think I'll take another soil sample later this year just to see how it's coming.

Great to see you working through the issues that kept popping up. You had a great plan and kept working until you succeeded. Good luck with the food plot John !
It was tough but next year should be a whole lot easier. Plus, Kurt got a really good deal on a 2 row planter at an auction the other day!!!!! Thank you for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video.
Broken plow, stuck in reverse, but got her done, Don Mealey would be proud that's great 👍
Can't wait to see what's in your exclusion cage down the road
Lol. Those are pretty big boots to fill, but I don't think he would have been too disappointed, except for my mediocre seed bed! The exclusion cage is already showing results, and they're pretty concerning. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, I appreciate it!
No one can accuse you of being lazy! If there’s a problem, you fix it. Keep up the good work, it will pay off.👍
Thanks, Steve. It's been a lot of work and with only .5" of rain this month things aren't growing nearly as fast as I'd like. The deer population is growing, and the bean growth is slowing. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate the encouraging words!
Keep up the good work Farmer John!
Thanks for watching! Lots more to come!
Man this is awesome, I had got good with a net years ago and just recently got back into it only to realize I was doing something wrong and now I see what it was. Thank you so much
Great! I'm glad it helped
Saw this video years ago, helped me a lot with throwing great casts. Forgot how to do it and looked up a video on how to throw and this video came up again! Thank you!
I think it's almost 6 or 7 years old now! You're welcome!
Thanks brother big help
You're welcome
Ive got a model 20
Close to the same thing, but older, I believe?
Thank you my man, from Floridatown Bay in Pace, Florida ( northwest Florida )! Bodine, I’m out ✌🏼! Very much appreciated happy new year happy Valentine’s Day happy Saint Patty‘s day happy Easter happy Mother’s Day happy Father’s Day happy Fourth of July and Memorial Day happy Halloween happy Thanksgiving and most of all merry Christmas😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😢Fr though
Looking forward to trying this technique. Currently only getting it to open up real good about 30% of the time with my current throw 😂
It took me a while to get it down, even with this method. I think hooking your arm is the key.
@Johnsplots gave it some tosses in the back yard. This technique made a huge difference for me. Thanks for the video.
Nice! You're welcome
Good video, it has tidied the field up well! Have you thought about getting some stabilising bars for the tractor? It would stop the disks from swaying from side to side.
Thanks, Leo. I do have stabilizing bars, but I forgot to put them on. It would have helped for sure, and I'll be putting them on the next time I disc. Thanks for watching!
Great video my friend!
Thank you sir!
The drone footage was perfect! Nice job 👍
Thanks, Steve! I was testing out my multitasking skills 😅
Dude thank you so much, this helped me so much and it's very easy
You're welcome
Great video, the sassy Massey is doing a fine job. 👍
Thanks, Steve! She sure is. I've been lucky not to have any major breakdowns this spring.
As far as the plow job, you did one heck of a job all things considered.
I appreciate it. That was my first time plowing with a moldboard, so I learned a lot in those 7 acres.
New subscriber! I have 2 35s, i am going to get a plough for one of them! Lovely video too 👍
Thanks!! I have a lot more tractor videos coming. Are yours the diesel or gas?
@JJF3023 they are both 3 cylinder diesels. I have a few videos of the older one on my channel, and I have recently bought another so I will be getting that running too
I'll have to take a look. I've bought 2 of these, both gas, and my cousin just bought one, gas as well. I've never run the diesel version.
@JJF3023 they are mostly diesel over here in the uk, some of the older ferguson 35s are petrol or tvo but most of the massey ferguson 35s are diesel( I'm pretty sure)
Been awhile
Yes sir. A few changes in the past couple of years. Lots of food plot videos are coming, though.
Great quality video my friend!
Much appreciated!
Tried this today and it worked great. Thank you!
Good! You're welcome
damn good throw really opened it up.
i've been pissing around for an hour trying to figure this out, came in and watched your video and first throw nailed it, thank you sir
You're welcome. Glad it helped you out!
Thank you!
You're welcome
Thank you, brother!
You're welcome
A little harsh on calling people idiots however, if you want deer you are correct. Hogs destroy everything. Like your videos
You’re the man! That choking up 1/3 and putting everything but the one end in one hand is so much easier. I’ve been holding it over shoulder and mouth and I suck. Feel like pro now with this method
Niiiice!
Thank you very much sir from the Netherlands
You're welcome
Thank You😊
You're welcome
Cool deal. Thanks for sharing
Great tutorial, not unnecessarily long
Thanks
CCI standards seem to work the best for mine (marlin 25N)
I'm watching this for ideas for a new bench in 2024. The one thing that stood out to me was the use of electric tools and not battery tools. I didn't have hardly any battery tools seven years ago myself. Thanks for the different ideas
