I know it would ruin it for puppies and they couldn’t have them, but if you bought some tiny puppy sized tennis balls maybe they would work better as a regular tennis ball is very bulky

My grandmother made these for my mom and her two older siblings. It rarely took more than 2 months to make them, as she was quite experienced at it. They had new ones twice a year. Practice makes perfect. 😉

One thing that AI gets wrong in images is text. There are times when the text is just gibberish that doesn’t resemble any real words and looks like a keyboard smash. That’s how I figured out the flower bookmark one.

I think all those images were fairly trivial for me to tell apart, mainly because most fake ones were in their own isolated commercial production looking environment, or had that soft lighting and shading that tells me something doesn’t know what the world looks like. I mean, if something is real then chances are they aren’t going to invest that much effort to putting it in a whitebox probabilistically.

The last few ones are tough. I’m guessing B for the penguin one and hoping I get a 100% for the quiz.

I have never made a granny square. Now I have so many reasons to give them a try. All of the blankets are beautiful!

I got 100% on the quiz. AI images often lack backgrounds because it's so easy to spot errors in those too

TIP FOR BEGINNERS LIKE ME: Get MANY Different Colors Of Lockable Stitch Markers So U Can Use The Power Of Complementary Colors And Use Really Bright Colors that are Opposite Of The Color Ur Using So They're Easily Spotted! So if ur using like let's say blue 🔵 yarn use a Yellow Or Orange Stitch Marker! Hope It Helped Have A Nice Day! 😄

A lot of the time what I look at is the background of images. It can give away the AI image really well if it’s just a featureless background with no soul to it. Almost all of the AI crochets have bare backgrounds. I’ve done the same thing of looking at the backgrounds to recognize AI generated cats on an adoption website. (Isn’t it sad that I had to look out for that? 😭)

One thing she haven’t mentioned is that AI always make photos that have good lighting with a bland background and that is how I always spot it

I've actually been saving all of my scrap yarns, because once I finish all the worsted weight WIP's that I started and never finished, I have a plan for them. My Grandmother was a crocheter, like me, but she was also a quilter. She made crazy quilts for all of her adult, married children out of scrap fabric from their lives. Once she got her adult children's quilts made, she started making quilts for her grandchildren. As I'm the oldest, I received the first of those, I got mine for Christmas just after I turned 16. Mine wasn't a crazy quilt, it was a Granny's Fan quilt based off of my favorite color, purple. Well, I intend to use all of my worsted weight yarn (or as much as I need to finish the project!) to make a crazy quilt Afghan blanket. I don't know how big I intend to make it, and it's going to have all different colors in it, from light to dark, colors that match and colors that don't. I plan to do this by assigning each color with a crochet stitch, or at least, that's one of my ideas... I haven't completely decided yet. But it will be made entirely of scrap yarn, with black as the border, both between each stash block and around the entire blanket.

Quick Tip For Checking AI Or REAL Bookmarks: If Its In The Book, Zoom In And Kinda Read The Book And If It Makes Sense Its Probably Real It Its Not In A Book Look On The Sides For Little Hairs Sticking Out Because Yarn Isnt Exactly Smooth As It Looks In Many AI Images Hope these helped! To make a ergonomic crochet handle i put silikonbeads on my aluminiumhooks. Different colors and you can customize your own hooks .there are tutorials here on youtube

For me its pretty easy to spot ai but maybe it’s because i worked as a graphic designer for a long time. My thoughts are that despite ai being annoying, tool for scamming and stealing someone’s work (because its not like ai has great imagination its just stealing existing things and mixing it together) it can be some nice inspiration, for example i really liked the colours of the sweater

Whoo! I managed to guess all of them right. I've actually done a lot of studying on AI art, and used a few different ai art generators to create fake "art" myself to help me with studying the images- If you wanna be able to identify ai "art" easier, I definitely recommend studying ai images like this! I've almost become an expert at identifying any ai "art" that's supposed to be 3d just from a glance or two, and it's definitely a lot harder with 2d pieces but I've learned a lot of cool tricks for identifying even really hard to spot ai "art", like looking for any weird unidentifiable thingies in the background or really close foreground and looking for a weird overly blended look, and well as the continuity of patterns being weird.

I want you because you do a lot of really good stuff. There's a lot of detail. I make things for people and I. Jokingly refer to what I do as frankensteining. Because so many of the patterns and other things are written poorly. There's things missing it doesn't match I don't like it. I've been doing this for forty years so kind of know what i'm doing. But when I teach my kids in my grandkids and other people. I can't really upset at these AI and that these people who cannot write a pattern or do a CZcams tutorial with their hands covering things. So thank you for this I look forward to watching it

i was in salt lake city recently and went to one of the malls, there was an art gallery with a big crochet AT-AT from star wars that was taller than me. i get your point about larger-than-life ai images and i agree with u but what makes you say its out of the scope of possibility? im not a crochet-er and maybe im just not privy to the structural problems with the house example and the crocodile example, im curious!

One thing to look for in AI generated images, like the bookmark one, is if they have text -- GPT can't seem to generate legible text.

i can't believe that ppl are doing this. but at the same time i'm also not so surprised. during most of the video i was thinking, it's so obvious, the AI "crochet" projects look to perfect, and then you showed your instagram and uuhhhmm yeee the things you make and photos you take look just as perfect xD makes it a tad harder. but ye as others said. all the AI pictures have that same unnatural lighting and textures.

Has anybody used YARN ARTS (JEANS) for Granny Squares? I want something small stitch but I don’t have experience with it? Any help would be appreciated? Or any suggestions?

I believe platforms are going start forcing images to be labeled as AI, photoshopped or unaltered soon. Hopefully sooner than later
