Contain This
Registrace 26. 08. 2020
Our goal is to build a multi level home out of 6 shipping containers. We have a basic idea of how its supposs to look, but we continue to modify the design and build off the cuff. The first phase of the build is to get were we can live in it because the fist 10 months we camped out and ruffed it with the elements of wild Texas.. This build was started in mid 2021 and will last for about 5 years. We are creating this channel to share our experience with others, and most importantly to celebrate and appreciate those who have supported us in our crazy ambition. Come and join our journey as we build a Shipping Container Home in central Texas.. We will be regularly publishing videos on our build to help inspire you if you have a shipping container home on your bucket list.. This channel was "NOT" intended to show you how to do the build, but how screw things up without getting heart..

You can tell the Filipina isn't interested just agreeing with that old fool smh MOGUL...
Thats a great idea brother. Is that metal framing, cost more or less them lumber?
At one point it was cheaper than wood but I don’t compare prices anymore because you’re using a shipping container I don’t mix materials. Metal on metal starting with a metal container.
Great job. Congratulations.❤Can I see more of your beautiful horses.❤
El Campo By DP Saddlery czcams.com/video/NROMBRh1sTs/video.html Go to my other channel and you can see more of what I do with horses
Ok thanks
Oh ❤ very good 💞🖐️🙏
12000?
Yes sorry it’s 12,000 btu not 1,200 unit in Texas is enough power if you have good insulation
Open cell doesn’t absorb water. It goes through it. Closed cell is high r rating.
So cool great work that's for sharing
Its nice that you and your wife work together, but a little advice please wear your PPE. 😁👍🏻
Bare arms, shoulders................Unprotected feet and legs. What kind of example is that for your viewers? Besides the immediate danger from molten metal causing permanent scarring, the UV radiation may give your local surgeon lots of work cutting out cancerous melanomas from previously exposed skin. Really, really a dumb idea to weld without protective equipment.
got mine from Wuwi Shipping Container delivered yesterday and paid upon delivery. they got pretty good deal there
❤
Hey, what's up yall, IDK if you remember me,but I'm the guy who delivered your IG units, everything is lookin so awesome, I'm impressed!
Yeah I remember you , how are you? I will be ordering more glass from you .
Good job! 8" beam is better than 6" for a 16 ft span. Looks like it'll work but you're relying on the 1.6mm thick corrugations to hold up that beam. Throw a small 1.5" or 2" HSS down to the floor to hold that load over the long run. Would have been better in the outside corrugations but oh well. Make sure to hit all that steel with zinc primer before paint. Looks like you're a great welder. Keep it up.
I 100% agree with you. I spent many days agonizing over this very issue of relying only on the corrugated steel. I would have needed to change my whole floor plan to incorporate support columns In the long run the only weight bearing load will be the weight of the roof and maybe a bbq grill and beer. But yesterday I came up with a fix and a solution. Stay tuned to see the fix.
If you want to try out our steel stud brackets in your build, let me know. I can send you a free set.
I’m interested. I want to see it. You have a link?
😍😍😍😍
Wow its great,good job guys👍
Thank you! 😃
❤❤❤
"Helper"...?
yeah.... a good wife is also is a true helper..
I used jb weld putty. Easy to work with, works good.
flashing tape
Jov nikalit rag gawas hehe, naa nka sa gawas?
SCREWED STUDS ? total hack-job
yeah pretty entertaining haha.. See! People can learn how not to do right,, hence why this channel is entertaining.. Maybe I will get it right on the other 5 containers...
@@containthis4450 maybe
I really need to learn to weld!
It’s easy. Watch CZcams tutorials
Glad to see you back. We need a home tour to see the house
Nothing is finished on the inside. Later in the year you will see more of the inside.
Wow what a skillful man. Its almost ready
i like to see detail video on how to mount and weld the containers on foundation!
You got it.. We haven't welded that yet.. We will weld it in May or June..
Nice shop!
Congrats on getting your Dishy McFlatface! I want to get one eventually.
Great job love it keep making more videos
Thanks for the update. I appreciate these videos.
Glad to see you are still building and sharing!
I normally hate CZcams intros, but yours is badass
Hi Randy is that sealant stuff good for high temps? Just thinking how hot the container metal can get in the direct sun
That’s what it’s for. Worked fine this last summer in Texas.
@@RandyByers good man Randy, thanks, keep up the good work
Cheers enjoying your vids. You ever have a door rod that's bent and manage to straighten it? Going to try it myself. Also you ever see ones just cut off the outer rods on each door as they're not really necessary when not on the high seas
To protect the electric wire from the sharp edges of the metal stud you should use the universal snap-in bushing for metal stud available in most hardware stores.
Doode your channel is really good
Hahahahaha this should have been how not to make a pop-out, why didn't you give the frame integrity with feet? that Car Stand and bottle jack seriously. I don't even really want to know what your going to do to keep the water out of the seem. Good Luck Full roof membrane maybe? Your inspiring me to make sure I research a lot if i ever do build one Thanks for that I suppose.
I'm at the point where your discussing the use of the come-along, now I'm even more intrigued and gotta watch the rest hahahaha
What the were you thinking was going to happen? Why didn't you reinforce the area you were about to cut first?
Did they use any kind of Primer first? What about later when the Container sweats will the foam detach from the Metal walls?
Absolutely not. It is not necessary to put a primer on it. It will never sweat that is why you use spray foam.
Where did you buy the studs please? Home Depot?
No not a box store. I bought them at a drywall supplier in college station in Texas
How do you attach studs to the containers walls? Drill thru ?
They are free standing. There is no need to attach them to the container. I only screwed down the bottom channel to the wooden floor.
Are you ok have not seen you on. Hope you are good. Put out a video to let us know miss you
No worries, I have two videos in the cue ready to pull the trigger, but im still waiting for SpaceX to get my internet working. Its a pain in the butt to upload videos a my current speeds. We be pouring concrete next week, so stay tuned..Thanks for your support..
New video soon?
Yes soon. Iv had internet issues and very busy. I have two episodes in the cue ready to pull the trigger.
How do you install a circuit breaker panel in metal studs?
Go to my episode 11 and look at 1:20 and you will see two wooden supports for the fuse box.. czcams.com/video/YaArwOh_OJ0/video.html
Why didn't you just unbolt them instead? I removed my door latch rods in about 15 minutes with a rachet and vice grips. And I can always re-install them if I want to. I'm going to install a garage door opened inside mine to open the doors so I don't need them.
Thanks
Great details. Thanks.
It seems to me that it would be cost effective to use multiple containers to add square footage rather than building pop outs. I’m interested in the least cost. I understand that some people would want more design options. Good video.
I enjoyed learning from your video today. I am a woman without building experience. My husband has all the skills needed to create a container home. I’ve been binge watching vids on this subject. Great to know that the bulging walls can be an issue. An Australian man installed flashing above the door to run rain away from leaking in that area. I like your down to earth style and that you’re not spending a ton of money like some channels.
Clicked by accident but glad I did. Nice project, nice video! Liked and subbed 👍
