Tadamichi Kuribayashi is perhaps the most underrated commander of the Axis Powers. Not only was he a skilled, pragmatic general who inflicted some of highest casualty rates the United States ever suffered during the war, but he was also a compassionate, rational human being. He evacuated civilians so they wouldn’t get caught in the crossfire, he shared the hardships of his men living in appalling conditions, he visited wounded soldiers in the hospital, he forbade the use of banzai charges (believing them to be futile and a waste), and he openly opposed going to war with the U.S. (believing it to be last nation Japan should fight). It is said that the Japanese government sent Kuribayashi to Iwo Jima, knowing he wouldn’t make it off alive. Kuribayashi himself knew defending Iwo Jima was an inevitable defeat, but he also knew if the U.S. captured it, Japan would be in full range of American bombers. If defending Iwo Jima meant protecting his nation’s civilians from those bombs for even a little while longer, then he would gladly defend that island to his last breath. The Battle of Iwo Jima lasted for over a month and resulted in nearly 28,000 American casualties, and it climaxed with group of Japanese soldiers launching a sneak attack on an American encampment before being wiped out. It is said this group of Japanese soldiers was led by Kuribayashi himself, making him one of last generals to lead from the front and die in the front. The reason his body wasn’t identified in the aftermath is because he wore the uniform of a common soldier, not an officer. Tadamichi Kuribayashi was one of the best men the Axis Powers had to offer during the war and it’s a shame he isn’t widely known like Erwin Rommel. I honestly can’t thank this film enough for giving him the recognition he rightfully deserves. Rest In Peace General Tadamichi Kuribayashi (1891-1945).
A superstar who hated the limelight. She was never one for marriage and seemed happiest when left with her own company. She was a complete one off which made her such a mysterious woman.
Increible el parecido del actor KEN WATANABE ..personifica muy bien al general TODAMICHI KURIBAYASHI a quien representa en la pelicula y da la impresion que su petsonalidad tambien es muy bien representada...exelente actor...
The Nazi high command had no use for the Japanese other than letting them kill as many Brits and Americans as possible who would have otherwise been busy killing Germans. Master race bullshit, remember?
@@Firedog-ny3cq Greetings. As we both know, the Japanese machine gun (the Type 96 九六式軽機関銃, Kyūroku-shiki Kei-kikanjū and type 99 九九式軽機関銃, Kyūkyū-shiki Kei-kikanjū) were very poor weapons. If the Germans had given them their superlative MG 42, our beloved Army and Marines would have been slaughtered at Iwo Jima, Peleliu, Okinawa etc. Needing more and more resources and troops would have helped out the Germans. Did you serve in the military? I did not.
@@BillMorganChannel Honestly, i think the results would still be the same, The naval bombardments would just last longer and maybe a bit more losses on the american side, but overall still the same american victory..
You’re hired
True Cavalry Officer.
Nihon ikee!!!
the music fits perfectly with this video....simply wonderful!!!
Paul Walker 😢😢
Admirar seu rosto e rever seus filmes nos dá a sensação de estar no sétimo Céu.....
Is this a test for the Duchess of Langelais?
I wish that we could have traded General Kuribayashi for General MacArthur who was more interested in his press reviews.
She's stunning, enigmatic, joyful and unbelievably aware. I don't know what she was being tested for but they lost out.
Quem puder viajar pelo pacifico vale a pena conhecer o memorial de iwo jima
STUNNING
The music to this is like something out of the film “ JAWS “....really. My goodness. Couldn’t you have picked something better.
Que grande filme... Grande crítica da guerra. E tive o prazer de ver essa foto na minha frente.
He was involved in massacring British soldiers in a hospital in Hong Kong when the Japanese took it. Just saying.
Sir I wish you could have survived to see and help create the friendship between Japan and the United States that we enjoy today.

Came to fight alongside General Kuribyashi though he knew that war was lost.
His body had never been found/recovered. I hope some day that it will eventually be found and retrieved for proper burial.
I love the way she plays with her hair she's just beautiful she will always be beautiful very special woman will never be another like her
Today 7 of juillet, one of the best generals of the imperial Japanese Army as born.
Meravigliosa attrice! Non per niente soprannominata la "Divina"
Imagine Iwo Jima if the Germans had shipped over two hundred MG-42 machine guns with 2 million rounds of ammunition.
The Nazi high command had no use for the Japanese other than letting them kill as many Brits and Americans as possible who would have otherwise been busy killing Germans. Master race bullshit, remember?
