Is Saudi Arabia really quitting oil?
Saudi Arabia has ambitious green energy goals, aiming to go carbon neutral by 2060. But what does that mean for their fossil-fuel production? Well, the Kingdom is aiming to have its cake and eat it too.

Can this magic fuel clean up the shipping industry?
zhlédnutí 167KPřed 21 dnem
The shipping industry is responsible for three percent of global emissions. One of its best bets to get these down is fueling their vessels with ammonia. It releases no carbon when burnt and is cheaper than other alternative fuels like methanol. The catch: building a specialized engine is extremely difficult - and there's pretty much no green ammonia production today. So can it really fix shipp...

I wonder what role oil plays for mother earth underneath the surface..🤔. I have never come across such a research.. All I know is what oil can do for us above the surface. Can DW cover on this aspect as well ?
They just gonna pump concrete into it?
Is Saudi Arabia really respecting jornalists lives?
Awesome reporting. Ask this journalist to do more of your stories
"America needs freedom!!" "The United states has declared war on The United states"
you know at this point... mine as well make plan B... everyone pumping more than yesterday. buy up underground caves or something or make artificial atmosphere make chemicals make food etc.
The real irony is that Germany prefers buying expensive shale gas from other countries and transporting it across the world causing more CO2 emissions, when it has its own cheaply extractable shale gas reserves in Germany..
MBS : Guys! We must improve our great nation's prestige and public perception! I heard memes are a great way to do this how do we do this? Advisor : lol, We can create a 100km in the desert. MBS : Awesome! Do it! Advisor : STONKS
Where?
Mud/Cob homes, food forest can help.
Since I am from India and not from a developed country I can't say much. But yes common tax payers and poor people will pay for this mess.
I live in India and my home has never had an AC , doesn't have an AC even though this summer is the hottest by far. We keep the doors open for air circulation and the fans running. From someone who had to survive summers in a dorm without AC - Dampen your mattress during the daytime and let it evaporate. It will become cooler to sleep on by evening. Keep a wet towel in the room and put the fan on. It will dry and circulate cool air. Really nice in hot, dry summers. Table fans and pedestal fans are your friend. But small fans that you can position towards your face/head.
Rapacious and destructive greed for profits with a green face ! One can fool some people sometimes, but One cannot fool all people all of the time.
you're asking the wrong questions. Of course they need to move away from oil but is a trillion dollar ditch in the desert the way to go about it?
let's not forget that one of the reasons that MBS had Khashoggi chopped up into tiny pieces is that he went on Al Jazeera and said that the cost of this project which is not allowed and scrutiny and criticism has the potential to ruin Saudi Arabia
a drug dealer. that's sounds more like the crown prince who is hooked on pot. just look at those eyes. them wanting to capitalize on suckers who belief in climate change also sounds like the prince
It’s so funny, how uneducated or indoctrinated they are talking about electric cars being a solution and going to make a big difference due to the worrying of shortage of fossil fuels, don’t they realize it takes fossil fuels to mine, the lithium and the batteries and the cobalt and do they also not understand it takes fossil fuels to charge these electric cars😂😂😂
I personally know of places in the Northwest where tidal induced currents reach 8 or 9 knots. I recall thinking they'd be perfect for turbine farms. But they are all bottlenecks where migratory animals must traverse making them bad from an ecological sense, much like dams.
what a pity, the startup could have move to india, and chances would be there that it might have survived. all rnd and time goes in vein.
Its a bad idead to build a city in a straight line
☺️☺️☺️☺️
Saudi Arabia has become woke. Maybe it is to help there image as a country with a psycho leader who chops up people who speak out against the government.

deshalb darf man nix kaufen ,was man danach Wegwerfen könnte .
Apparently they're shortening the line to a quarter of it's size
SMRs that consume waste, such as molten salt reactors designed by Copenhagen Atomics. might be a good solution for dealing with waste. Excellent video, but let's keep thinking positively.
Small modular reactors are cool….but tbh the normal sized reactors are already a mature and known technology. We should just be using that
Lol ... more money than brains
Does every country have one of these? That's a lot of waste just for Germany.
We’re really trying to live in the fallout universe for tech smh
"Civilisation ending disaster" Aaand this is how you lose my trust as an info channel when you propagate old outdated preconceptions that are highly negative towards our progress in phasing out coal and gas generated electricity
Neom is a joke
Hydrogen is a fossil fuel con as the cheapest for of it comes from natural gas. And it has so little energy and massive infrastructure requirements and is very costly and requires extremely dangerous compression levels. It will never work. Electric vehicles that can be charged on ubiquitous electricity, indluding directly from the sun, is the future without a doubt. Investments in anything other than full EV is no better burning money directly.
I still had my nokia asha 311 , lumia 535 , lumia 900 , n85 , all still working but kept in drawer coz exchange value is just ₹500-1000 .
So we are going to be like fallout.
"With a Geiger Counter in my hand, I'm going out to stake me some government land. Uuuuran-ium feeever has done and got me down"
So basically Germany realized it made a collosal mistake bxnning nxxxxxr reactors and getting dragged into a wxr against Rxssia by the US occupation regime, and now there is some new technology allowing a rebrand that hopefully the anti-Semitic Thunberg cultists won't flip out about.
It's a HUGE mistake. Nuclear is not perfect, but coal is SOO much worse. I don't understand it. To not keep extending the use of the current reactors in the middle of the war is also madness.
Malawi??????
Incredibly frustrating to see how selfish bullies seem to be getting away with opportunistic behaviour. By no means in line with aims of trying to achieve a sustainable world, both physically, socially and morally.
My question is why are all the projects so ridiculous massive? why not aim for things based on grounded science and engineering? Generating 30% of your power from renewables, making homes energy efficient, investing in efficient and reliable public transportation projects nation wide.
when goals are realistic you run the risk of hope and failure will demand accountability, where as unrealistic goals will never seek tangible result kind of like faith
These projects don’t make the news. They do exist but they aren’t the ones CZcamsrs will make videos on. In the capital Saudi is improving (creating) public transportation systems for example. That’s way more useful to locals but not that interesting.
Why produce hydrogen only from fossil fuel? Store energy from solar or wind energy is better in hydrogen than in batteries. At least it is cleaner. Easier to refuel your hydrogen car at home by producing your own hydrogen than at fuel station. DW is miss leading, hydrogen got 3-4 times higher energy by weight than fossil fuel. This is why rocket was using hydrogen as fuel decades ago! By the way turning methane into hydrogen is a lot easier than from water ! So it can also solve another greenhouse effect gas problem! For sure hydrogen is our future energy source as nuclear fusion fuel is isotopes of hydrogen. Hydrogen is then the by product of the fusion fuel production!
This is the future
my coments... if you wanted, most wise, educated european and american responsable scientists and politicians, with all the ai available, I guess you could accelerate the carbon capture tecnology..
Some things make more sense for a government to run than individual companies. Think NASA. While NASA partners with commercial companies and spins off a lot of interesting tech, it's not exactly a get-rich-quick scheme for greedy investors. Greedy investors likely have fortified fiefdoms in Canada and Alaska for when the world gets too hot to grow food at the equators - they can sell us all the gasoline we can burn, then escape the bloody mess left over. Or maybe not, but we can see that maybe state-run industry has its upsides in certain instances.
Tourism needs Haram stuff like alcohol and music that's banned in most of SA, forcing locals to change will cause for religious people to have extremist activities 😢.
Nothing good comes from this part of the world .... when oil runs out, there will no life
Just a note that from experience, these repairs barely last a few months and very rarely they last more than a year
Desert will be Desert
