WWI, is definitely one of the strangest wars you can study, it begins as a 19th century war, with weapons, techniques and uniforms defined in the 1860s-80s (relatively from nation to nation). And it ends in a war of new possibilities, modern, with technology never seen before, differentweapons of different behavior and chemicals weapons, but at the same time with a medieval revivalism. Maybe that's why I prefer to study this war more than the next one.

i like the detail of the German NCO having the correct golden colored lacing on the collar as well as on the cuffs for an infantry unteroffizier, especially because only guard regiments really used silver early war. Kinda odd tho how late war the NCO wears guard litzen on the collar while his squad buddies are all regulars. still awesome tho

I find it amusing that sometimes the character model will change, just for it to go back the next year, like the first guy got injured or went on vacation so they got someone to be a temp until he came back.

Im a bit confused as to how your seeing the different uniforms without being the proper level for it
when selecting custom game you can select the year you want the battle to play and with that the uniforms change to that year.

Didn't know the Russians, Latvians and Romanians army used the Adrian helmet
For the Ruskis and Latvians, they're quite rare due to how massive the Armies are and how late they used it (Latvia is under Russian control at the time) Romania got modernized with help from the French

What was the reason for a lot of them choosing very similar uniforms? Can’t tell you how many times when playing as A-H I shot my own guys thinking they were Romanians(or conversely didn’t react and got shot by a Romanian), as well as mixing up Latvia and Bulgaria. It’s obvious on closer inspection but not when you have a split-second to react. Wonder if there was a lot of friendly fire incidents because of that on the eastern front? I’ve also read that in 1914, Serbian soldiers had a field day picking off A-H soldiers because of the bright blue uniforms.
Say that to the uniform creators of ww1 not tannenberg creators as they just added authenticity 💀
@@lufsolitaire5351The reason for similar uniforms was both influence and cheapness. Basic browns and greys and such are cheap, and so where easy to mass produce for Bulgar, Russian, etc armies. The Blueish Austrian uniform if I remember right was meant to be kinda like the horizon blue French uniform, or atleast the general idea of that, and the Romanian uniform I think held the exact same reason. So pretty much it’s just, it was cheap, and it helped mostly tell who was who on who’s side.

The Alpenjager is probably a Bavarian unit; the first mountain troops were Bavarian and Bavarians had green uniforms.
@@elephantofdoom I'm afraid that's incorrect, the jagers in verdun have a black and white corkage on the officer, meaning it's a prussian regiment, a bavarian one would have a light blue where the black is
