This is one of my favorite brands. Especially the Pilsner. I turned a buddy of mine on to it who has always been a bourbon guy mostly because American beer hurt his stomach. Now he is a beer guy and because of the purity law he has had no problems. He was just telling me today that he has turned another friend of ours onto it. That guy but some and took it on vacation/family reunion. He had other people try it and they said it was the best beer they ever had. 👍🏻 I now have my friend collecting glassware like I do for all of my beers. Why are Weihenstaphner Pilsner glasses so damn hard to find? It took me a few years to find two and that was just recently. I don’t even see them on your website. It would really be nice to see them in a .3 L Pokal from Rastal or Ritzenhoff

It's good.. It's basically like you'd imagine.. Take a good classic hefeweiss and add some slight earthiness from the hops and you have a good idea.. It's a hefe with a bit of earthy pine.. I detect a bit of citrus as well. It's interesting but honesty if I were wanting a hefeweiss then I'd just go 100%. The one drawback with this beer is that the classic banana/bubblegum flavors have to share too much room with the hops that are used. 8/10 for what it is.

I first ran into this beer at a Home Run Inn Pizzeria in Chicago, Illinois--there was a dare: "Have you tried a beer from a 1000-year old brewery?" I was directed to Weihenstephan--one of the most premium beers that I've tried--Brewed according to Reinheitsgebot (Purity Order)--the only ingredients allowed are hops, barley, and spring water. Chicago's Premium Pizzeria is the ONLY place I know that offers the oldest beer on tap.

Hi Joe Hamel - Thanks for the question! Weihenstephan is our brewery and Weihenstephaner means "Beer from the Weihenstephan Brewery." Yet both work well when used to order at the bar. Prost!

I have known the pronunciation but I'm not 100% sure on the context in which Weihenstephaner is used over Weihenstephen? It's written as Weihenstephaner on your labels but the Brewery is Weihenstephan, Is the "er" suffix possessive, as if to say, "this is Weihenstephan's Hefe." I've been wondering this for some time.
