Medieval London bridge 1633 board game
zhlédnutí 61Před 14 dny
My Medieval London Bridge board game was originally designed 13 years ago that I posted on CZcams. Had quite a lot of tweaks over the years driving me mad and was a labour of love. Never did manage to get it published though despite my efforts. Unfortunately I've had to pull the music and sounds. No money to spare for such luxury.

I have been looking for a 3-D model of the London Bridge for YEARS, and now I have seen it! I suspect there are MANY people who would like to see this animation but it doesn’t come up in searches (at least for me). I guess The Algorithm found it after I watched several documentaries about the medieval London Bridge. I think the medieval London Bridge is fascinating! I don’t know of another bridge in the world where people built LARGE shops and homes on a bridge. I believe there were tolls to cross the bridge and it got so crowded the people used ferries instead. If no one had built structures on the bridge, it would have probably accommodated all the traffic easily. If you still have the original source file for this, you might consider re-rendering it with newer software. This already looks EXCELLENT, but I think it deserves the best render you can do. I don’t remember how many views this got, but I bet many hundreds of thousands would like to see it. I know I’m not the only person fascinated by the medieval London Bridge. Unfortunately, I’ve turned off reply notifications (because of trolls), so I may not know if you replied, but I truly think your project would interest MANY more people.
If only London Bridge could be rebuilt like this again and get rid of the awful 1970s bridge. It would be a huge tourist attraction and no doubt the houses selling for many millions each but it would look awesome.
Great work - very inspiring, thanks!
What😂 there was a whole freaking church ON the bridge? I mean, come on. Medieval London was wild
History in motion........... Great job.
Top work
That's is absolutely awesome 👌
Greetings Your Majesty.
Wow. Interesting.

In school l learnined this
At the point 2:50 the clothes people are wearing date back to the 1470's
Pity it was lost to time. It would no doubt be a world herritage site today.
Thx this give me a lot of inspiration for building stuff in conan
Wish we could still see and use it today
Perhaps also add some period music.
Fantastically imagined. Beautiful graphics. Just curious where you combed archives for your research? I had heard / read that supposedly London Bridge was comprised of a bunch of shops -- could be wrong. Only criticism is I would have slowed down the motion. In its final iteration I had to slow it down to enjoy it. Otherwise....good work.
The best part of this video is that because of restraints with time, everyone has to be card board cut outs, there's no way they could be 3D models as it would just take too long to render for the effort put in
I was thinking the same thing. I actually appreciate seeing non-professionals using software to create something that no living person has seen. I don’t know how faithful paintings and drawings of the bridge were, and I suspect that Londoners weren’t very proud of the bridge at the time because the records seem pretty sparse. I wonder what visitors to London thought of the bridge at the time. I would have been amazed.

Looks very interesting. It must have been a very smelly place to live since the Thames was an open-air sewer.
Thanks Jack. Good job it's not in smell o vision.
Thankfully it's now full of ships instead of...
The London Tornado of 1091 was the earliest reported tornado in that area, occurring on Friday, 17 October 1091. The wooden London Bridge was demolished, and the church of St. Mary-le-Bow in the city of London was badly damaged. Other churches in the area were demolished, as were over 600 (mostly wooden) houses. For all the damage inflicted, the tornado claimed just two known victims from a population of about 18,000.
What was used as a bridge between 1091 and the new stone bridge of 1207?
@@thomashernandez8700 Compact consisting of earth and rock held together by animal dung.
Would be great if a careful reconstruction could be built. ...Pedestrian bridge.
The trouble you took to get the light and shade is amazing, well done. 👏🏻
Fantastic Job man
are you H.G. Wells??
If youre interested, lookup dorian gerhold old london bridge on youtube. He talks about the new evidence thats come to light on the dimensions of the houses.
Very nice job. New evidence shows the houses were a lot deeper and straddled longer piers.
so... why they put houses on bridge? who allowed? can people even cross the bridge like that? why was bridge so wide in first place? wouldnt be cheaper to just add a section of town wall and not use bridge for houses?
Looks very dangerous to. And keep in mind that there was more space in those days. Maybe it was to get buyers to buy goods ? Wont get away with that now days for sure. But still awesome :)
Bridge owner takes cut of all sales and rents....clever

Space was expensive so every inch of the city was used!
Fantastic! I was just wondering what the medieval London bridge looked like and here we are! You have done a wonderful job sir of bringing this piece of history to life! thank you very much for your work and sharing this with us.

Glad you appreciate my work. A lot of research was involved. The project started as something I wanted to visualise that no longer exists. I approached the London bridge trust that had plans to open a museum underneath London bridge. Sadly they could raise enough money, 4 million quid or so. I'd really like to have a large permanent plaque placed on either side of the Thames where the bridge once stood to show tourists the history of the bridge. I've also produced a board game that I'd love to have on the market one day. czcams.com/video/i-l4iaDjr0A/video.html Thanks Les

Fascinating--great job!
Glad you appreciate my work. A lot of research was involved. It was originally planned for a museum devoted to showing tourists at London Bridge. Sadly didn't get the funding. One day I'd like to have a plaque situated on the site on North Bank and South Bank for tourists to see what stood here for centuries. I also have designed a board game with app to see on smart phones. Watch this space. Cheers

This is amazing thanks for sharing on CZcams. I would love a time machine to go back and see old London Bridge, what a sight it would be today! that is an amazing amount of effort you have put into this, and it is probably as close to seeing it in the flesh we could get. What were your sources for the model, was it just looking at old paintings? or did you have any better references?

@@LeswilsonC4d Sounds fascinating, would love to see the App when it is done. The bridge has been a bit of an obsession of mine over lockdown, and I am busily making a scale model out of resin and miliput! it is a labour of love :) Will share with you when it is done!

But it looks like more from 1300-1400's than 1080 to me; like more of romanesque. Are you quite sure it has been like that?
