American Babies played the Christmas Jam 2023 in Asheville NC on 12-9-23. American Babies includes Tom Hamilton Jr. and Joe Russo most notably of Joe Russo's Almost Dead. The audio is a bit rough as I was trying out a new mic which was obviously overloaded. This is the first time that American Babies had played in nearly four years.

No thanks. Sammy can't hit the notes anymore. I have seen Van Halen both DLR and Sammy and they were great shows. This sounds like a really bad tribute band! Satch is a great guitarist but not for this. Solos are pretty bad. Nuno Bettencourt a way better choice! Anyway..not wasting money on this. Disappointing see my fav band of all time insulted by this. I saw the 2015 DLR VH tour and was way better. We all know the real VH was with Dave.
The Golden day of Rock music era
WOW ! this is the end ! nobody jumping in the crowd ?????????????????
John Mayer is a G
Fuck. I just bought tickets to take my son to see this in Detroit. This better NOT be it!!!! WHY? WHY? is he playing ANY Roth/VH songs at all? He has so much good material and honestly this is shit. I fucking hope to God that the show I see next week is better than this.
Mike Reno needs to loose the Big Green Egg under his shirt. Come on man shed those pounds🏃♂
Thanks man! I was at this show and wished I had recorded. I appreciate you sharing!!!
@1:08:20 Yesssss, Satch Boogie 😎😎😎
These guys sound great after all of these decades! The negative comments are from people that haven’t done shit in music!
For Me It Was 5150 And Balance Tours That Were The Best. This Show Makes Me Wanna Go But Gotta Drive To Houston.Hope They Come Later To San Antonio..The ou812 and f.u.c. etc Were In Austin And Didnt Come Here Either..
Sammy at 76 acting like getting drunk is cool comes off sad. He wants so bad to be Jimmy Buffet, but never has pulled it off. Also, who chose Montrose & Chickenfoot for encore songs instead of more Van Halen?
Thank you for sharing!
Been onstage with Sammy & Michael Anthony and had a private guitar lesson backstage with Joe. That being said, still enjoyed David Lee Roth with a Van Halen cover band(Atomic Punks) more than Sammy with the actual Van Halen.
I mean there's videos on CZcams where players sound like Edward....Joe sounds like Joe.
Joe is a great guitar player for sure. I remember a bunch of short vids he put out trying to ingratiate himself to the Eddie fans w stuff like " how did Eddie play that!!??" It was endless. Now Joe sounds nothing like Eddie BUT to be fair Ed changed his playing imo radically during the Hagar era. Way different than the Brown Sound w Dave.
WOW...the crowd is going crazy!!!! NOT.
Damn! No Dreams? That's my favorite 😭
There’s no way Sammy can hit those notes anymore
Thanks so much for posting this. I saw the July 11-13 shows. This is the best video I've seen of a full Sphere show, capturing the crowd, stage, and visuals. Absolutely first rate work. My first Dead show was in 1973. Haven't really followed Dead & Co., but I'm so glad I went to see them during this residency. Absolutely first rate production, beyond anything I could have imagined. Thanks for preserving and sharing it.
Great concert. I just wish they played more Montrose.
Hagar 76yo, MA 70yo, JS 68yo, JB 58yo, RT 44yo.
Best of Both Worlds video clip they used czcams.com/video/yZ7ywrl5oMo/video.html
I'd love to see this show. Thanks...
Michal is singing flat, getting to old
I think Sammy sounds great. Keep in mind he’s 76 years old(77 on October 13)!
Joe absolutely killed it on Judgement Day👍👏👏👏😎
So far the best video and sound of anyone posting a full concert. Kudos. And the band sounds great.
Satriani Halen?
I'm 55 scean the dead for the first time when I was 12 Albany new york and took off for the rest of the summer followed the dead around every summer afterwards love the lifestyle and the people that were on the road most people were good people I would never go do that these days no way late 80s early 90s 364 shows before Jerome died
Hard to watch without EVH
Seen and been into the dead since 73, 1st show buffalo aud.. still listen on a daily basis, still missing Jerry and wish I could see a show at sphere it looks awesome
Love it! Thanks for sharing!!!
Shit I missed em
Seventh Seal was a great pick from the VH album “Balance”! For career, history purposes..maybe add “Rock Candy” and “Rock & Roll to mix ahead?!
Just watching and it is excellent but have to say nobody plays summer nights like Eddie, but fair play to satch, it really was a unenviable task to follow Eddie
Freaking awesome all the way around
Сэмми поет ужасно. Не попадает в ноты. Позорище
I can’t imagine what it must have been like back in the early seventies with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. Two kids from Carle Place Long Island chilling at the sea of tranquility talking about whatever friends/ guitarist talk about, neither knowing that both would go on to set the world on fire with their music but also both fill in for Edward Van Halen. Steve and now Joe I salute you both!
Where’s Martin??????
Not much finger tapping going on " its meant to be van halen, songs carefully chosen without the eddie magic ' great all the same
It's good to see there's a few old-school rockers still gigging!! Enjoy it, guys, because there's not many legendary rockers left that can still sing and play like this.
Not a fan of the scab playing part of Dennis. He’s a great artist but doesn’t do Dennis very well. Would love to hear deeper cuts from Tommy and JY. No Snowblind?
That's an incredible set... I always forget how much fantastic work JW has produced. Thanks for posting!
Pound Cake🎉🎉❤❤❤
Damn they were in town 🎉🎉🎉I missed it🎉🎉🎉 Van Halen is back!!!!!babies❤😊
Let's be honest here, more than 80% of the people at this concert couldn't name a Joe Satriani original song. And he's dancing around with those sunglasses on as if he was EVH. 😂
Fantastic! Reminds everyone of the genius of EVH, and enduring talent of Sammy, Mike, Joe & Jason.
Guitar snobs can critique joes versions of the tunes But….. untill you can play the hammer on break in judgement day, you got nothing!! lol. Peace
Thank you so much. Just had many beers watching this from Australia in my media room. Thank you!
Okay I was lucky enough to see Van Halen, with David Lee Roth in 80' when the band was becoming huge. It was the World Invasion Tour at The Oakland Arena, & awesome night & will go down as one of the greatest concerts I've ever witnessed everyone was amazing & young & just on fire, it's the only way I could explain it. Now I saw, them twice with Sammy in Sacramento, on 0U812 88' tour which was pretty good, but The Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Tour in 91' was the Tour of Tours with Sammy Hagar, was incredibly good. Now here's where I have a gripe when, when it comes to people dissing Sammy's voice, he's 72 years old, he was in his 20's in Montrose, in 72' 50 yrs will take a toll, we age out of our voice, I only know of one vocalist, who still blows me away, & that's Jon Anderson of Yes, he still sounds amazing. Just to name a few David Coverdale, Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury, Robert Plant, Steve Walsh, Don Henley, Lou Gramm, Phil Collins, Ian Gillian, Geoff Tate & so many more, all the greats can't sing as when they were young, anymore. Let's face it, Vince Neil never was, or never has been a very good, or even great singer, he's a hack in my opinion, he shouldn't even be mentioned with these other vocalists. Those vocalists were all next level once in a lifetime voices, that would be hard duplicate. Their tone, their delivery, was just that unique. Now I know this is gonna cause a fuss, & I know Sammy vocally is better than Dave true, but Dave's raw baritone, his catcalls were unrivaled, his grit, vocal delivery, humor tongue & cheek presence, for Me will be the Van Halen I will always cherish, til the day I die. When they hit in 78' I was 16 & was just blown away, for Me it was feeling I felt at 7 yrs old hearing Led Zeppelin II in 69' I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So that's always stuck in my memory, I still love that 1st album, second album, love Women & Children First that was The World Invasion Tour, Fair Warning a phenomenally underrated album, Diver Down has some fun & killer songs on it too! then to round out their career with Roth came 1984, I'd say with Roth, they did pretty damn good, Dave was a showman & then some, he brought it, Edward completely was next level, like nothing you'd ever seen, Michael amazing backing vocals & talent, Alex what incredible drummer he is & was. Now Sammy's had a great career, he's been involved in music for so long, he'll never quit, until he can't do it anymore, I give the man so much props, he has a voice he's just older now, the album 5150 is two yrs away from being 40 yrs old. One day all of the musicians that we loved, will most likely before most of us do, enjoy it while it last, these talented people we will probably never see again. Wow that was a lot. Now about this performance sometimes flat, uninspired, sometimes it was amazing, many times Sammy sounded like a young Sammy other times, he'd let Michael sing. Jason's drumming & drum tone was definitely set up to sound a lot like Alex's drums, they were a bit hard to hear, but his drumming was solid, I thought Joe did a remarkable job, not trying to copy Edward, but being respectful of him & adding a little bit of his "Satch" flavor to some solos & leads. I know we will never see another guitar player like Edward Van Halen, we were blessed as music fans, he was a once in a lifetime talent, he made the most difficult playing look effortless, his pure playing & amazing talent was something else. If we never have a tribute to him, even if it's a cash grab by Sammy, at least he's making an attempt to keep things conscious in the memory of those who loved the band Van Halen, in all it's forms. Last but not least, Dave's voice is gone, truthfully but he never really cared about it, to much partying, & not taking things seriously, neglect & abuse not good for any vocalist, he'll keep plugging along & find another avenue, he's a character for sure.
84 for me. Nothing today is close to the great ol days
Thought this was about Eddie...sammy in for glory and $$$
