Am Himmelfahrtstag findet schon vielen Jahren ein Drachenfest, Organisiert von der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Osterrönfeld, statt. Das Wetter war eigentlich sehr schön, leider ließ der Wind die Drachenflieger etwas in Stich... war aber trotzdem wieder sehr schön, vielen Dank an die Freiwillige Feuerwehr mit vielen Helfern.

Am 1.02.2024 habe ich das AWDF 2024 besucht. Viel Wind 6 BFT, etwas Sonne und nur ein kurzes Schauer. Deshalb waren nur wenige Kites am Himmel zusehen... Spaß gemacht hat es trotzdem.

Super Drachenfest bei schönsten Wetter. Ich bin schon viele Jahre auf der Insel... aber was am Samstag auf dem Strand für Besucher und Drachenflieger waren das habe ich noch auf Römö noch nie gesehen... Ich glaube das ist Rekord verdächtig... vielen Dank an den DDK (Dänischer Drachen-Club)

Ausser ein paar flow tails, wahrscheinlich auch gekaufte, keine stabdrachen mehr. Nur noch schlabberzeug. Viel davon aus China. Die dracheszene vor 20, 30 Jahren war schöner.
WOW! You can tell there was a FLY ZONE only for kites. There was no way you could have counted them all. UNREAL....

Ingo, how are kiteflyers who are not with a group finding a place to fly?
Hello Glenn, it is no problem to find a place for your kites on the beach of Fanø... the beach is about 12km/7.5 miles long and you are allowed to drive your car on it

Back watching your videos again. The black one that looks like lace caught my eye. We had our parade here last Sunday. I had to get out 4 videos on it. Then this past Saturday; they came in and set up my new computer. My old computer had one hard drive. I was out of space. This new one comes with 4. Lots of room for my videos now.
Thanks for your comment, the black, red, white belongs to a kite friend and is already a few years old. It can only be seen very rarely in the sky. 👍

Hello Jim, yes it was only a 1st day kite festival but it was a lot of fun despite the lack of wind. I think because the wind was so little and so uneven, few rodless kites were unpacked and even more older rod kites were shown to visitors... 👍
A great display, and a wonderful start to the month.
That was a nice start to the 2024 kite season, so it can continue...

Everyone had a lot of fun and thanks for the witch... I've had it for a few months and I haven't gotten around to letting it fly... it was the first time I could see it in the sky...

@@longbeachpeninsulawaphotos I gave myself the witch for Christmas and only got around to letting it fly on May 1st, 2024... the wind chimes that hung in the flying line also belong to me and were self-made over the winter months..

@@Dark-Sky-Kite Danke für deinen Kommentar, hab gerade mal deine Seite bei YT besucht und wünsch dir weiterhin viel Spaß mit dem Hobby... so wie du sind sehr sehr viele mit den Drachen-Virus in kontakt gekommen ( Ich auch ) und haben ihre Freude daran... vielleicht schaue ich mal in Cuxhaven rein ( ist das zufällig das gleiche Fest wie in Altenbruch ? ) bin nächste Woche am Vatertag in Rendsburg ( Osterrönfeld ) zum Drachenfest ...

Ingo, again and again, a very nice video. You gave us time to appreciate the whole event and the kites. The camera does not call attention to itself. The horizons are level and the shots steady. I admire those who spend so much money to bring happiness to others.

A great display, which I'm sure was appreciated by the spectators. I think it's sad, though, that kite festivals almost everywhere are now dominated by inflatables (mostly not kites but "line laundry") to the exclusion of all the beautiful and interesting sticked kites that we used to see.
Hello Jim, Thanks for your comment, times are changing... there used to be almost only kites with rods and today they are becoming fewer and fewer and the rodless ones (mostly not kites but "line laundry") dominate the kite festivals... it You can do a lot more with Line Laundry (building) than with stick kites and they take up a lot less space... 👍

Another video full of orignal and one of a kind kites. It makes your video so fun to watch. It looks like a very popular event there in Germany. That light blue dino is so cute. Usually when I watch your videos; all of the kites I have never seen before. That big brown beaver was here three years ago. It only made one appearance because it came from another state in a different part of the US. We also have the same big sting ray. A local flyer has one. Those were the only two; the rest were all different. I wish we could get those big pink pigs here.
I'm glad that you liked my video, I try to film the new kite creations in my films so that the video doesn't get too boring. In Germany the kite season usually starts with Easter and the weather here gets nicer to allow kites to fly... the pink pigs are self-made and huge, I don't know who built them. You can buy the beaver, the whales and some other kites... take a look at www.tug.com and you'll see how big and expensive the kites are and why you rarely see them... 👍

Hello Jim, it was like this... about 34 degrees Fahrenheit but the strong wind made it feel colder, we still have winter here that is slowly coming to an end. It was an eventful day for me (you can find more details in my comment on PanyingPilot) but it was still a lot of fun

Hello Glenn, Thanks for your comment, the AWDF is a small meeting of kite flyers who fly their kites even when the weather is not so nice. It was the 21st time this year on the Danish island of Römö, the weather forecast for the weekend wasn't good, so I only went to Römö for one day, what you didn't see in the video was something I noticed right at the beginning My hose tore off due to the very strong wind, it can be repaired, then a little later the hip ball tore off (disappeared forever in the dunes) and a little later my little lifter tore off (I found it again thanks to Chris's help) I hope You can see from my description how strong the wind was... an eventful day, but still a lot of fun
@@Kupper-Kites Ingo, I am sorry for your loss and damage. However, when we put time and money towards getting to our field of dreams, we are not going away without something to remember. In this case it is battle scars from fighting the wind. I hope the car itself was OK. Just now, my kiting friends Nick and Ruben sent a series of drone media showing the significant changes to Pismo Beach, a location we are familiar with. Probably the greatest change to affect us is the flattening of the beach. Tides may come farther in than before. Something we shall adapt to. Thanks for the reply. Time for you to get the sewing machine out and try to forget about the hip ball ( but I think you will always remember it).
@@PanyingPilot Hello Glenn, I've just finished my repairs and I've almost forgotten about losing my bouncy ball... I still have plenty of other bouncy balls. Your Pismo Beach is very long, unfortunately we don't have anything like that here, but it's an impressive beach and lots of fun flying the kite
@@Kupper-Kites I'm glad you are able to absorb the loss. I am sure that if not destroyed, someone else may become interested in kites. Yes, Pismo is a long beach. My kiting buddy Nick has just visited there to see how winter storms have changed the beach and dunes. There will be ample room to fly, but we will be mindful of the changing tides. Thank you and yes, I think there were more kite flyers on the island this year too... in some places it was quite crowded but the beach offers plenty of alternative options...
