    I've performed this work many times with many different choirs. This choir avoids the use of vibrato in the short passages to which I say Bravo! The basses and tenors are well blended as are the sopranos and altos. I recommend this choir concentrate on blending the sound en tutti. I also recommend the choir concentrate on elocution, vowel purity and intonation. I don't hear the beginning or the ending consonants in many of the words. The vowels O, E and U not as pure as needed. I do agree that it is performed too fast. The metronome marking is 84 semi minims per minute.

    Exactly! This is the only version I could find where they actually SLOW IT DOWN, so the "ear" can take it in and appreciate it. As far as "the blood" that's the writer and his convictions about what the song means. You may be caught up in the beauty of the song without really examining what it's saying...

    The song is supposed to mimic the chatter of monkeys as they charge onto the field to assist in battle.

  • @CyberphonixProd
    @CyberphonixProd Před 12 lety

    Thats exactly what this song is. My choir is doing this song. Description from the sheet music: Tjak!. (CME Building Bridges). By Stephen Hatfield. Tjak! has been inspired by a Balinese musical ceremony long known to world music fans as Ketjak, or The Monkey Chant. Is has adopted many aspects of the Balinese music, including much of the timbre and texture of the music. Enjoy this very unique piece of literature not usually associated with the context of traditional choir repertoire!
