I totally disagree. While it's true that I employed many narcissistic tactics until I became informed on the function of the behaviors, then I stopped. I am the scapegoat child excommunicated from my family. My parents are hardcore narcissists. They triangulate my sister and I with money. They punish with silent treatment and isolating. They are racist and cruel. I have a lot of symptoms of cptsd/ borderline thought patterns as a result. While Borderline is a cluster B personality, it's most often a reaction to narcisstic abuse. I do see narcissists everywhere now that I know what to look for, but that's because I am perceiving the world through that lens I formated in childhood, not because I'm projecting. It's just been my formative experience. Moreover, a large percentage of north Americans rely on external self regulating coping mechanisms ie. Money, porn, sex, social media, shopping, food etc etc etc. And that is a hallmark of narcissism. Thus, it's virtually impossible not to notice in today's society.
