    Here I am again... when the Action Pack is fulltime and heavy and I add some extra's to my backpack I can't find a way to carry it in a comfortable way. Trying to see whether I'm the only one struggling with it..

  • @TomDutch
    @TomDutch Před rokem

    I have it. I'm not able to wear it comfortable on my back though.. my neck and shoulders starts to hurt as if the weight at the bottom and in the action pack are pulling me backwards. Also, with the velcro it feels kinda loose. Quite amazed how yours seems to be so solid and stable. I do like the zippers, the space, the whole thing in itself but in the end Inneed to be able to walk with it. I have my Frontline in a sidepack, my 3x3 tarp in the other sidepack. It fits exactly which is great. My sleeping bag is in the big compartiment.

    On a budget the army dump is a great place to look for a bargain. A NATO mug used stainless steel is around 5 Euro, i have an 800 ml Mil-Tec nesting cup new for the same price. The store Decathlon has camping material new for very low cost, a four people cook set about 30 Euro. The US probably has a similar store. I use the 3 liter stainless steel Billy Can and the 1,6 liter kettle when we are with the family. Alone i use the 800 ml nesting cup, the Billy Can insert and a 1 liter set from Fox Outdoor, hobo stove and pot. For emergency cooker the fire dragon with fuel tabs. PS the Stanley set lid is usually the same diameter as a nesting cup for a Nalgene.

    Thanks for a relevant video. I recognize the ambivalence...; the excitement, and the anxious feeling (although in a safe environment). Like you I like to test and get to know my gear near home. This night I will try my new Incubator 10F +4 overfill. It is estimated o be minus 9 Celsius, right next to its rating :) I will also use my STS extreme reactor liner, in addition to wool undergarment ect. Greetings from Norway

    Nothing wrong he says with tin cans. The tin coating is toxic when heated in a fire. The metal is coated to prevent rusting, but will vaporize into your food when heated over fire.

    • @Sylvan_dB
      @Sylvan_dB Před 4 lety

      Tin in its metallic, oxide and salts are essentially non-toxic and tin has been used in cookware over fire for centuries.

  • @HollyOak
    @HollyOak Před 5 lety

    Leaching. There are concerns about aluminium/aluminum leaching into foods when heated. The actual metal, that has been linked with Alzheimer's. It has nothing to do with 'manufacturing chemicals'.

    Almost all tin cans nowadays have a clear plastic liner in them (even green bean and coffee cans). If you just boil water in them, you won't notice because the plastic won't get so hot that it will melt. If the can boils dry, however, the can will soon go to a higher temperature and the plastic will burn. When the plastic burns out it will leave God-knows-what behind, but I sure wouldn't want any of that residue in my water or food!
