This Channel is focused on vehicle based adventures, Truck camping, Jeep camping, 4WD and occasionally motorcycle camping. Modifications, vehicle specific camping gear and basic setup will be topics we cover. Most Camping will focus on unimproved camping, dispersed camping, off grid or boondocking. I would like to keep this channel casual and budget friendly.
TW 200 Off Road, hidden camp trail.
Short trail ride to a hidden camp deep in the woods. A few more years and this will be totally overgrown and not accessible. At one time this was a popular camp that was well taken care of by someone or a group. Now those campouts are no doubt distant memories. Maybe later this year I will clear it out a bit, it is a great spot for grouse.

Best Budget Adventure Bike 2024
zhlédnutí 205Před 3 měsíci
Sharing my thoughts on the best bargain Adventure bike for those on a budget looking for a new motorcycle. Seems 2024 is in stark contrast to previous years when "bikes sell themselves" and "non negotiable" fees. Very little inventory left few choices for overpriced new models. Times have changed and some models are gathering dust on showroom floors ready for deals to be made.
RV Lift kit, lifting a travel trailer with spring over axle trailer conversion.

Need more clearance for your trailer? In this video I show an overview of what is involved converting my RV travel trailer from spring under to spring over. With a few hours of work and a welder swapping your trailer to spring over is a fairly simple task. It can help add some much needed clearance for dry camping or boondocking. Keeping the drains up above rough roads is a primary concern for ...
Jeep Hardtop Droning Noise, Cabin Pressure fix.

Does your Jeep hard top make a deep droning or over pressure, bass like noise that hurts your ears or gives you a headache? I have found a simple solution that helped me for under $50. I believe it is a simple issue, caused by the flexible sides, windows and top all moving at a frequency that causes pressure on peoples ear drums as a loud stereo or altitude would. I have no idea why it is only ...

Short video showing my truck topper set up for camping. A very minimalist no build setup. Pretty budget friendly. And how comfortable I am in all four seasons including winter truck camping. Below is a list of commonly used cam...

TW 200 Offroad Single track trail ride in snow and mud
zhlédnutí 2KPřed 7 měsíci
A little winter trail ride on the TW 200 with some greasy mud and a bit of snow. Really testing the limits of traction with the stock tires. The rear spun out on the slightest obstacle and I had to push it over quite a few roots and rocks in the trail. The front was pretty scary, I had very little control over where the bike went the tire kind of slid around in the trail and a few times spit me...
TW 200 Adventure ride, abandoned mine in the mountains

Ride along as we explore a deep mountain trail that leads to an abandoned mine. We will explore the area and ride some excellent trails on the T-dub. This is the kind of adventure I bought the little TW200 for, putting along taking in the sights and sounds of an area. Too often on bigger bikes the trend is to fly through an area on a quest to crush miles. The TW200 is a bit different, encouragi...
TW200 Front tire washing out. Time to upgrade the front tire

This video shows a near wipeout with the TW 200 Off Road. A combination of events that led to the front tire loosing grip and nearly flying off the trail. After spending a week riding the TW in the mountains I agree with the comments about the front being light on grip in loose terrain. To be fair, quite a few of the bikes I have owned seem to have the same issue, sub optimal front tire grip wh...

Makes sense. Saves weight, keep your truck available for truck stuff! 😊
Have underground parking within cold lava under Modoc National Forest. Using both a 1987 Yamaha TW200 and 2008 Suzuki DR650. Has ice too.
Thanks. Are those thin bars interfering with the night lights
I never really noticed any negative effects on the lighting.
Looks like it was no problem for her, real tractor.
3 Gallon Stockpot is all I use for shower. I just heat it up on stovetop or coals from fire. I use privacy fold out tent. A cup works well for but you can buy the digital shower usb rechargeable if you want. Works great 3 gallons is plenty.
Very simple
Why so many rocks on the trail but none elsewhere. Looks the path is the worst line.
Nice tailgate table mod. Love to see a follow up video on the how to do
Soviet camp.
I love trails like that on my tdub
Nice exploring 👍🏻
Honda Monkey with Kipmoto trailer, I camp anywhere. I'm thinking the TW allows the same pros.
lol not sure I’d touch a shovel from a camp site. Never know if it was the 💩shovel 😂
Ha ha, very true!
Impressive balance and control 👍
Are you running factory tires? Thanks for sharing 👍
Yes still running factory tires
Very helpful, thanks!
Glad it was helpful! We just got back from a week long trip and were able to do a few small creek crossings.... before the lift I was barely able to make it over a mild mudpuddle or shallow dip into camping areas!
Thanks for this - really helpful information for me. I love keeping things simple.
Just picked up a 2018 going to learn to trail ride at 70! (I’ve been on two wheels since I was 10 but mostly highway for the last 50 years) Thanks… fun watch! You Made It!
Trail rides are very physically taxing, tough on whole body, after 1 st trail ride every muscle in your body will ache, muscle you might forgot you had lol
@@josephgeorgeejr7039 WORD!! Went out yesterday on a 20 mile rough road… did really well, no drops and did fine standing to absorb the bumps, but today my shoulders and upper arms are KILLIN ME!! Im’ dedicated though… I’ll just do some pain killers before next ride. (Turmeric and pepper help a lot!) and plan to skip days riding with days HOBBLING! ;-)
Once you get more hours in the seat you'll be using the front brake a lot more
‘This is a really stupid idea.” Proceeds to do “really stupid idea.” 😂. Yes! That’s what riding is all about!
This is quite possibly the best, DO EVERYTHING MOTORCYCLE, money can buy. TW200. Go anywhere. Do anything. I would love to own one.
bas run! excellent skill, best!!!
Quads could go up through this road no problem at all.
Not surprising as its a quad trail. I think around the 45 second mark I mention that my 4 wheeler made it up quite well.
Really great video & thank you for sharing.
the actual time to upgrade a tw200 front tire is a few hours before you pick it up
I’m picking up a new one for mine without even trying it. Deathwing sounds scary 😱. It’s off road only though so might as well.
Nice trail, where is it located?

You installed those upper mounts wrong way. You need to flip those around and left to right and etc. They should go same line as the battery cover side, not pointing straight toward headlights like you have installed. You can notice there is small holes or cuts in both mounts near 90° turn. Cf motos front plastics/trims should fit in those holes under the battery cover.
Hmm, well luckily they seemed to still work the way I mounted them. By all means though if you have a video posted showing this, list the link here and I will pin it. Either way I do not own this machine to make the video again.
Where did you buy this bumper? Thanks
Found them on ebay. liked it enough to buy the rear as well.
I have foldable mirrors on my TW. I also have handle bar lever guards. They will definitely save the levers. Imagine breaking a front brake lever at the top of a long steep downhill. The clutch would also cause issues if you were far back in the bush. You can always carry extra levers, but if you wreck and break those, you will be in the same predicament.
definitely on my list of upgrades.
I installed a rear disc brake on my TW, and it is soooooo nice. NO more squeaky squeaky, and much better brakes. I can lock my rear tire at will on dirt.
Link to where you bought the disk kit?
@@LeMortso Bradly Performance. I don't know how to make links. Sorry. Be sure to also get banjo bolts with bleeders. Bradly may have them, I bought mine from an aftermarket supplier.
@@BuilderofRat Found it, Thanks! Man, they’re full of tempting stuff~! :)
@@LeMortso I know------right? My latest thing that I am doing is installing an AGM battery. I found one at a battery store near me, but it was too small. I installed it anyway, then I found one that is suppose to be the right size. It has not arrived yet, and due to the shipping charges being almost as much as the battery, I believe it is coming from over-seas. It has 135 CC Amps. My machine is a 2022 with 1,800 miles on it, and the original battery failed, which is par for the course with a flooded cell. My 09 Polaris Sportsman came with an AGM, and it was still in it when I sold it earlier this year. I am sold on AGM batteries. Especially with battery start only. I have also converted my Polaris Trail to AGM and my 2017 RZR also to AGM. Might want to think about that with your TW. There are lots of places that I go that being able to push-start my bike would not work. I also installed sintered brass pads on my disc brake set up. I believe that the pads are from a Yamaha. I found out about it from reading the comments with Bradleys disc set up. He might even know which ones fit it. I do indeed love my disc set-up.
So what were the OTD prices you were quoted?
Depends on model, mid 6 to 7.5k. Found a demo bike traveler model heavily discounted as well. Looks like dealers are starting to push adverts for the 1k discount now, think it ends this month. Most good shape used 3rd gen in my area are running about 5.5-7.5k and of course we have to pay sales tax when registering so adds up too.
To be clear, I am not saying this is the "best bike" but more that it is the "best bargain" from what I could find available right now. What are your thoughts? Any specific market trends in your area that stand out? Any tips or suggestions to new buyers when negotiating OTD pricing?
I just installed heavier springs with Cogent DDC's in the forks and it made a difference on keeping the tire on the ground. I was going to get a new front tire, but the bike responds so much faster to the bumps that I'm going to add pressure back to the stock front tire and keep on riding, I have not felt the need for a new tire now! Time will tell, my TW is still very new.
Looks like a blast!
I have this in my Jeep, I like it, but the phone has fallen out a few times.
Hello! Thank you for watching, if the video was useful let me know, if you have a suggestion or a video showing how you do it feel free to link it below. Search seems broken on this platform so helping each other find good content is up to us.
Where you riding. Looks like some single track in michigan.
This was in North Idaho.
Good job!
Before the Jeep prices went ridiculously high, with markups and such, I was on the verge of getting a Subaru Outback. Why I have a 2016 JK 2-door and have not been able to figure out how to sleep flat with my 5'9" height. Other videos suggest a hammock tied to the roll bars (not an option with my back problems) and others suggest removing the front passenger seat (and have the airbag warning light on the dash on). One person suggested sleeping diagonally like you did, but I could not find and no skills to build a platform to bridge the seat well. Every few months I search youtube to see if someone has a better idea. So, thanks for reinforcing the diagonal position and bridging the seat well with a duffle bag. I will try it again. Otherwise I like the 2-door JK but if I had anticipated sleeping in it I would have opted for the 4-door. I already have a roof cargo basket in place to store extra gear. Question, were you really comfortable and what foam pads or air mattress did you use? Thumbs up!!
Well to be honest it is not the most comfortable..... but I also have a full size truck I camp out of with a nice cot and large topper to compare to. I would not do it for more than one or two nights in the JK. I owned a 98 wrangler and had a few Suzuki Samurais that I spent many nights in... the JK by comparison is much more roomy and doable but still not a perfect solution. When the weather is better and the ground is not a mud bog I prefer a tent and cot. I was using two sleeping pads on this trip, a generic camp pad cut into thirds I had my wife sew a cover on it so it folds up flat, and a generic inflatable mattress I have had for a few years (outdoorsman lab or something similar). The somewhat rigid foam camp pad actually helps fill in the gaps a little between the duffel bag/pack, footwell and seat back. The benefit with the 2 door JK is how nimble it is on trails and getting into the overgrown brushed out trails we have here... with the cost of not being super comfortable to sleep in. It seems like it is always a trade of in one area or another ha ha ha, probably why I change vehicles every couple years!
That looked like a great trail that up hill section was so cool
Yeah, the Recalls for Toyota make me want one, not.
Yeah, that's why I bought an older one. Most newer vehicles are not made to last, or perform to customer standards but to meet federal "regulations".
@RatherBeWheeling yes sad to say, Chevy 1500 went to crap in 2015 never liked Ford switched to RAM 1500 2019 model so far so good. But these new turbo 6 cylinder engines will not last towing so I guess my next jump is to V-8 3/4 ton
Nice setup! There’s a popular CZcamsr named Mav with a similar camper setup that he made himself, looks similar to yours and could be a great reference!
Are you near Tn?
no, other side of the country.
These tdubs are like tractors man, nothing can stop them!
With a tdub, its never "if" it can make it, just how long it will take
Ha ha, definitely. Took me a while to learn to slow down on it and not overwork the suspension... much more enjoyable.
Hey thanks for watching! If you have any suggestions or comments on truck camping setup post them up, I would love to hear them!
the drum brake needs chain lube again
I will add it to my list, along with blinker fluid, muffler bearings and a cloud filter!
