    This one looks like an awesome backpack, especially the '24 edition, but not even the most expensive or ultralight gear will not help if I'll look like a dirtbag hiker wearing a technical backpack around the town, so I told myself to go undercover :-) I'm thinking to go with a Tom Bihn Synapse / Synik... not the most technical ones but some solid backpacks for sure. The Fjällräven Räven is a potential candidate also... The Jansport makes some solid ones also, like the Right Pack (915D Cordura with a deer leather bottom), good for people that are trying to save a few bucks...

    • @UnlikelyHiker
      @UnlikelyHiker Před měsícem

      Hi! I’ve been using it quite a bit! Overall I do really enjoy it. A couple things I would suggest they consider: Make the shoulder pockets stretchy Add a stretch pocket on the outside of the back of the pack (like most packs have) Maybe make the hidden top pocket a smidge bigger Otherwise I like it. It continues to be comfortable and it carries quite nice for me. I feel like the straps might slip a tiny bit but not a big deal for me. For a fit issue, the shoulder straps seem to be a bit far apart, but snugging up the straps alleviates that for me. I do have fairly broad shoulders so it’s odd that it sometimes feels like that. It is possible I need to adjust the torso length. I haven’t tried that as of yet. Is it worth the price? I cannot answer that for you. I do love the comfort but I’d prefer the features I stated above. So if it checks all of your boxes maybe yes it is worth it. If you can order it from a place you can return it (maybe REI sells it?) I think that’s the most reasonable way to do it. I believe LLBean is carrying this pack online. I hope some of this was helpful!

    • @UnlikelyHiker
      @UnlikelyHiker Před měsícem

      So I think I’ve decided these will be great to use for easy hikes or skiing, but not up for the job of rugged hikes on the Adirondacks or Whites of NH. They are light and comfortable to use but they will shatter if they get stuck and I fall forward. They do come loose sometimes. This would not happen in the traditional flick lock poles I’m sure. I will probably get another set of aluminum BD poles as soon as I can…
