They shot the Hollywood sign scene in two different locations. From the back, you can see the 101, and the seats of the Hollywood Bowl. That was at the Mullholland overlook. Which is free to go too. For the front shot with the Hollywood sign in the background, they would’ve had to go to private property above Lake Hollywood, near Casa del Lago. Madonna’s old house. It would have to be at the top of the hill, near a mansion that looks like a White Castle and is owned by Moby. The show is usually filmed on the exact opposite side of that hill, at the NBC studios. Warner Bros. Lot. Btw, every time you show the Hollywood Sign in a tv show or film… you have to PAY the city of Hollywood royalties for every second it is shown. That’s why you don’t see it more often. In fact, in the film “Once upon a time in Hollywood “ it is not shown at all.
