How to Install 650 Drywall Ceiling Grid
This is the same method we use to teach and show our crew how to install 650 grid for drywall ceilings. We had a comment asking a question about it on another video and thought it would be a good idea to make a video and show how we go about installing it for our own projects. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments!

Hi sir , What's the best glue for frp panel and the best glue for pvc panel
Hi. Our cylinder is loose. Can we tighten it or must we replace it? Thank you
Thank you for the informative video, save me from extra expense instead of changing I fixed the existing lock 😊
Mine has a key hole lock, I get to the end where I attach the last latch and the other side stays locked even when you turn the key. Any suggestions
now how does the handle come off if/when we have to replace the assembly??
why dont you just put tiles in to square itself once set out
Because I trust the measurements I pull off of a tape more than the tile. The tile is meant to have some play in it
Excellent video my friend!
Thank you, this was most helpful 🎉
As an architect in training, love to see it!
impressive work. thanks
A week into my first year apprenticeship in commercial construction and they have me helping with installing dropped ceilings, 8 videos in and this is the first one that explains the process the 4th year journeyman uses to layout the grid. ( Is a joke, he has enough experience and hours to be journeymen, but he's still a 4th year)
Thank u for ur helpful video
Would raising an existing drop ceiling be similar? is there an "easy" way to bump it up? Is it possible to raise just part of a ceiling in a room, or do they always have to come straight across level?
4” to 6” maybe you got a chance but higher than that it’s tough
Why are you still drilling when the door is open?
Awesome thanks good to know u remind me of the Boss I had that taught me ceilings
Good video. Will show to my crew as a best practices reminder. Quick question though….were you saying your finished width was 35 15/16”? I failed a TAS inspection for an 1/8” on aisle width. Not sure if 1/16th would get caught, but I just wanted clarification when I show to the crew.
Well I believe this is so the reveal around the inside of the door stays at an 1/8”. That lets us know that the door is set properly. Not sure if that answers your question, I’d have to throw a tape on one of our doors
Can you guys do a video on how to shims doors?
Little trick a ceiling guy taught me for layout is to count the number of fulls and multiply by two pull the number from the wall mark and measure the remainder from the other wall and divide by two pull that number from the wall and every four foot are your mains
You cut the main wrong you should always have a wire at the end of the main, doesn’t matter what type of grid system.
Bar joists were running perpendicular, and this is just an install video… if I did an 8’ main it wouldn’t show how to connect the mains and that is important for these types of instructionals. Go ahead and make your videos however you like👍
Where can I order these
mine still does not close
excelente tecnica
On this exact door handle my key stays jammed inside when the door is locked. Trying to take the handle off but the key won’t turn clockwise 45 degrees.
This stuff is awesome. Used it in the basement.
So why is it so hard to push the tiles up? And then get them back down when I'm running cable above a T-bar ceiling?
It worked for me
What about siding and drywall? My door frame was sized for the wall stud size and won't fit after stucco and drywall.
My guess is the stucco is thicker than 5/8” then on both sides
You made three adjustments, not two. The third was the latch adjustment, which you did not explain at all. Still a helpful video, thank you !!
can you tell me the rough opening for the sheetrock
Nice so how is it holding up?
Your awesome man great way to explain it simple and easy appreciate it big dawg they setup these doors like booby traps lol thanks man
nice video and straighforward. greetings from the Gods. 😊
thanks bro! i'm a maintenance man for a school and this is the second time you enabled me to solve a vexing problem. I appreciate you
It's 7. second's to close
Using this video to show a hotel maintenance man how to fix the room door closure was great!! I would have done it myself, except I didn't have any tools at all with me. 😂
Thanks
Wow!! Thanks!
Thanks, so I will know what they are doing to my ceiling.
If you put a lag in your drill and hook it to a bent wire give it a spin it will straighten the wire.
Taunt lol
Yup! My mistake🙃
@mitchellacoustical3119 lol all good, you still speak mo betta then me
Dude show the drilling of the two holes 🕳️ for the lever
I HAVE METAL STUDS AND I WANT TO WOOD BLOCK THEM TO HANG A TANKLESS WATER HEATER WHAT WOOD AND SCREWS DO YOU RECOMMEND TO ATTACH TO THE METAL STUDS AND THEN DRYWALL OVER THAT.
I would rather use the knock down frames other than the welded frames. Im sure your drywallers are better than some of the contractors out there. I recently installed three knock down frames. I couldnt believe the contractors couldnt get the openings correct. Instead of being 38 1/4 X 85. I had 39 1/4 X 84 1/4. Another one was 38 X 83 1/2. The third one i had to cut through an existing wall because the contractor bdidnt want to. I corrected all the issues that i ran up against but if thry were welded ftames , i would be screwed. I hate to say the quality of contractors out there isnt very good. Years ago i would fabricated the interior walls myself , so i didnt run against these problems. Today a lot of the walls would be subbed out to other companies. They either dont know sizes or dont care. I do enjoy your videos as i find them informing. I try to see if i missed something or maybe someone has an easier way . Im a General Contractor Commercial and residential for over 45 years. Take care
I followed the steps but they cylinder wont drop out of the handle once removed? Do you have any advice on how to handle this?
I missed the part about installing the wire
Typically we run them perpendicular to the mains. Every 4’
2:54 great view
???
Mines stays open 🤦🏾♂️
ADA is actually seven seconds and in a hospital you need to make that whisper, quiet clothes which it sounds like you’re missing the silencers in the jamb
I always adjust the the swing speed first then the latch speed after I’ve adjusted the spring tension always start with the spring tension first then swing then latch
