Specialized Chisel Review
The Chisel Is Full-Sus!
The Chisel is the lightest alloy full suspension bike in the world. Perfect for cross country racing or ripping up local trails.
Specialized Chisel First Look
We recently had the opportunity to test ride the Chisel on some challenging trails in the Surrey hills, check out our video to see what we thought.
Lightweight And Affordable
The All-new Chisel is a lightweight, capable and affordable full suspension mountain bike. This lightweight frame which is 18.4% lighter than its closest competitor, will help riders fly up the climbs, while the suspension and efficient geometry makes it at home on both downcountry trails and when venturing off-piste.
Chisel Models
The Chisel range features two models, a Base and a Comp model, which we feature here. Both models in the range feature 29inch wheels with 2.35” Specialized Ground Control/Fast Trak tyres which delivering faster rolling speeds on bumpy trails. Both models also include 12-Speed x1 drivetrains and hydraulic disc brakes for efficient shifting and confident braking on a variety of off-road terrain.
D'Aluisio Smartweld M5 Alloy
The aluminium frame features D’Alusio Smartweld technology which delivers the highest strength at the lowest weight, by using stiffer joints with less flex, offering a lightweight and responsive ride. With the flipchip and progressive XC geometry based on the Epic 8, the steep seat tube angle positions the rider in the optimal pedalling position and the most comfortable position for those technical trail sections.
Chisel Is Now Full Suspension
The Chisel is equipped with 120mm front suspension and 110mm rear. All Chisel models include suspension lockout front and rear, and the Chisel frame will allow riders to upgrade to a 130mm fork depending on preference. The frame also features a flex stay rear end which offers riders the efficiency, control and lightness of a carbon flex stay design, from an alloy frame.
Dropper Post
Both Chisel models come equipped with a TranzX dropper seat post offering adjustable travel, meaning riders can move their saddle out of the way to gain more confidence and control on technical descents and terrain. The length of drop will depend on the size of frame you choose.
Whether you are starting your mountain biking journey, cross-country racing or looking for a lightweight full-sus bike but don’t want to break the bank, the Chisel could be for you.

Hello at 2:57 what frame size is that please?
I would like it more if it had more sloping
I bought it and love it. I just rode 62 miles and climbed 4,500 ft and got back with 4% battery left. Can’t ask for more.
low battery
Is there a more subjective review of this bike available? This one seems very biased.
How far do you get with a 400w battery?
Hi .Which of the models has 3x8 speeds? or does it not exist? I think I need a little help
what is the weight of this bike?
That was really helpful! Diolch yn fawr 🙌
Bro you are terrible at explaining things the park tools video really helped me
Currently looking between trek marlin and a talon. I’m definitely leaning towards the giant
I have had my casette since february and my chain is at 1.0 do i need to replace the cassette too? The teeth are still square. It is June now.
Como se conecta con swift?
Tysm u helped me sm
I can't see where the saddle width is listed on your shop
This could be the perfect upgrade from my 2008 specialized epic comp!
I do agree with that. My 2022 talon 3 upgraded to a 1x12 Shimano Deore GS, 2.25 Maxxis Ardent Exo TR tires and a 120mm airfork from SR Suntour makes it a bliss to ride in both xc trails and on the road. As a modest trail rider this is for me the best value for money bike.
The chisel was beautiful as a hardtail. NOw it just looks like any other fulsus bike. THey could've used the EPIC ALLOY name instead.
Chisel HT is like a epic hardtail Sooooo…
@@AlanGonzalez1 They did used to do a stumpjumer alloy hardtail, which is basically an epic. It was much stiffer and more aggressive geo than the chisel though. I think the Chisel is quite unique as a hardtail. Super light and quite flexy
It's a bit funny, selling aluminium bike for 3k, when just a few weeks ago you could buy new carbon Specialized Enduro for ~3k lol
Jeez the bike i have been waiting for but the colour.........The base model is better but still is not a colour that is even remotely sexy. Specialized what are you doing?????
Looking forward to getting my hands on a frame. The colour of that comp is revolting. Otherwise id pick it up and flog the junk parts. But i dont want to paint a new frame....
Bring back aluminium!
If only I could give this 10 likes at once.
I don't understand the hype about it. You are paying 3300 for a bike with basic components except the fork. You can get a bike from Rose (made in Germany) with x01/Gx drive train, dropper and pike select + fork for 2300 and weights 13kg...
Its the perfect bike in the wrong colour.😔
Why are people complaining about the color? It looks like a pretty basic dark green to me.
@@theymademepickaname1248 Lol i think that's the problem!
Supercaliber🎉
A lot of these videos keep forgetting to mention that the back part can get unchained too. Make sure to check that because my from part was fine and I was confused
I just wish they release a hardtail that is UDH so I can build it with xx1 transmission
Do you believe that Specialized will launch a new model of the Chisel HT?
Ffs finally ! Took me 20 minutes just to find a video like this😤
If it doesn’t work for you with the bike upside down, try it right side up. Not sure why that works but it worked for me
Thanks so much.
please kindly someone tell me what do number means at the end of the name trail 5,6,7,8. Does higher number means superior to the lower number or lower number has superior specs?
Hm?
I think the pump holders might need to be more closely spaced. If the pump comes out that easily, it may fly off the bike.
And on many wider mountain bike tyres, you need to let air out of the tyre, or it may not squeeze through the brake pads (even after the noodle has been removed).
I don't have the mounting-hole near my pedals. How do I install a rear full length mudguard?
Thanks for using that bleeding edge thing. Most videos use two of the screwable attachments. So glad I found your video!
min 0.56 did it for me, I was doing it wrong. thank you!
Trail 8 for lyfe!!
Mud and dirt power pyramid😂, stupid design
Now after routing it, how do i put the chain's screw thingy back on
I have a 2016 talon 4 and I’d put it up against anything in its class today. Hydraulic disc brakes, locking fork, tubeless tires, 27.5’s on the feet, etc…
I am a dumbass lol, deflated the thick ass tires and squeezed the tires through the brake pads instead of the quick release, thanks for the quick and sweet tutorial!
It sounded sad
Don't forget that fenders, support leg and luggage carrier is specifically made for this frame, and the frame is not designed for anything else than AZID (sub brand of CUBE). Of course these parts are super expensive. A set of fenders costs more than chain and cassette.
Just bought one, great review, thanks
Don’t hold that cage too tightly you’ll bend it…
What gear should the bike be in when fixing the chain ?
Could you use these for commuting
Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t catch the phone number to call for help. I’m somewhat new to biking and bought a relatively discounted e-bike, but the front suspension fork it came with is cheap and doesn’t support my weight and bumps on the road, and I really need to upgrade for a smoother right and to prevent damage to my bike.
For the prices of the bikes , the paint jobs are so boring
