    Honestly, as tone deaf and patronizing as this segment was, I'm surprised by how fair it was in how it humanized the Reverend and depicted him as a normal man when they could've gotten away with taking cheap shots at him for being Japanese and fell back to the usual tropes. But damn those nail polish ads were completely out of the blue, they remind me of how the wife from the Truman show was trying to distract Truman from finding out about the true nature of his reality show life by doing an impromptu advertisement of a chocolate drink powder in front of a hidden camera, to which he replied "what the hell does this have to do, with anything?".

    Well, to be fair, they also had a Holocaust Survivor on the show, so it wasn’t a new thing they did with Tanimoto. Besides, he were in The US to talk about the Bombings and gain awareness of his organization: Hiroshima Maidens. It was an organization set up to help Survivors of the bombings with reconstructive surgery. Point: Tanimoto wasn’t out of the blue put on the spot about Hiroshima. He had been talking about it before, and were in the US because of it. He is of course still hurt by the events and traumatized, and perhaps caught off guard with the introduction of Robert Lewis. But please don’t think he went on to the show unknowingly to talk about Hiroshima. He knew. Tanimoto had to deal with his emotions towards Lewis, as well did Tanimotos daughter (Koko Kando), and eventually found him to be grieving as well. A fellow survivor hurt by the events, just in a completely different way. Just look at Lewis, he is so uncomfortable in this. He doesn’t know how to look at Tanimoto and gives a awkwardl handshake. He is seriously so uncomfortable to be present with one of those he could have killed, and had to experience the horrors he only saw from above. I mean, you can hear him almost break when retelling the words he wrote “My god! What have we done!”. He hated what he did, and really wanted to present the money to help the survivors. Tanimoto is seriously surprised by that.😊 I like Robert Lewis, he is humble and grieving yet also acknowledging his actions and the consequences of it. This event is horrible in what it’s about, but its wholesome as both men acknowledge each other’s grief and eventually seems to be more comfortable with it. That donation is really something special

    This show is freaking nuts. The host is just talking at this guy about the most traumatic experience of his life that occurred only a few years before like he's a cartoon character in a fantasy story. I feel bad for both Rev. Tanimoto and pilot Lewis. You can tell Tanimoto is in shock and working through so many emotions, I can't even imagine what he is going through there. No one should ne subjected to that. And Lewis looks shaken too to be looking in the eyes of a man from the city he watched get destroyed by his action. Lewis was following orders and his immediate reaction to what he witnessed suggests to me he experienced his own form of trauma that day. Say what you want about Lewis, but both of these men are human beings with complex emotions and it breaks my heart that these producers and host subjected them to this for the sake of "entertainment". Really insane

Surrounded by Americans, in America, face to face with the pilot who took part in the destruction of his city. I think this has been the single most vile piece of television I’ve ever seen.

    At the risk of being pummeled, i must say i enjoyed this. It reminded me of how we as humans need to treat one another with love and respect. I feel for both of those men. One was "just following orders," and the other was simply living his life when tragedy happened for both. Can you fathom being known as one of the people who killed 100,000+ people? Or being on the other and losing friends and family all at once because of governments bickering. "We are physically here for a miniscule fraction of eternity. Display love and empathy."

    最近視聴とコメントが急激に増えてうれしいのですが、コメントを拝見するとありえない、信じられないという否定が多いように思います。 私はアメリカを否定するために動画を上げた訳ではありません。当時仕方ない部分はあったと思います。この番組のおかげでたくさんの原爆乙女の治療費があつまり治療が出来て助かったのは事実です。今の感覚で否定するのは簡単ですが、重要なのは原爆の実情を知ってもらうことです。 この動画を見られた方が否定だけで終わるのではなく、更なる原爆の実情を学んでいただくきっかけになればいいと思います。 そしてそろそろ訪れる8月6日には是非思いをはせていただきたい。 可能なら広島を訪れて平和公園、原爆資料館を見学してください。 広島の人はアメリカ人を恨んでいるのではとかの心配は不要です。 慰霊碑に刻まれているように(人類が)過ちを繰り返さない、繰り返させない為に とにかくたくさんの人に核兵器の悲惨さを知っていただき使わせない、道のりは険しいですが最終的になくなるようにというのが広島の望みです。

      you saying all that talk about in truth US is genociding country that does not care for human life. Iraq, Afganistan, Libiya, Vietnam I could mention more US has always been genociding fked up country. Also when US drop the atomic bomb, they didn't care about the peace, they wanted to show their power to the world so they can take over world No.1 spot, which rn trying so desperately keep the spot while igniting wars around the world. Just do simple google search how many countries US has been involved with staging coupes and military invasions. US dnt care about the atomic bomb victims. If US really care about Japan, then why did US destroy Japanese economy in 1980 when Japanese economy was going to over take the US economy?

      言葉足らずでしたね。 私は原爆投下自体は肯定していません。これにより戦争が終結して結果沢山の人が救われたなどは方便であり何があろうと民間人大量虐殺のこの行為は許されません。 仕方ないと言っているのはこの番組の構成の話です。こうされてでも原爆の事実を知ってもらう他なかったのです。

    • @mugbugbabe
      @mugbugbabe Před rokem

      Why are you embarrassed that someone who shares your last name immediately felt regret for the bombing and clearly looked like he wasn't aware of what he was going to be doing on the show? Also do you not understand that Japan first attacked the US on December 7, 1941? Then the US declared war on the Japanese. We lost more troops fighting the Japanese because they decided to essentially commit suicide by running straight into the fire of the US catching our troops off guard causing more death on our side by stabbings and gunshot wounds. We practically had no other choice than to stop the war with Japan and in 1945 the only advancement we made was an atomic bomb. Attack an animal and they'll attack back, how are you going to be mad that it reacted? That man who you hate literally donated money to help the people hit with the bomb.
