Gringos de mierda
I've heard things be called "Hard to watch" but Jesus Christ. That poor man.
This is so fucked up, not even telling him in advance? Utterly degenerate.
the audience applauding when Lewis walked in….
This is the equivalent of rubbing your dog’s nose in your own shit and being oblivious at their confusion. Nice nails though I guess.
Honestly, as tone deaf and patronizing as this segment was, I'm surprised by how fair it was in how it humanized the Reverend and depicted him as a normal man when they could've gotten away with taking cheap shots at him for being Japanese and fell back to the usual tropes. But damn those nail polish ads were completely out of the blue, they remind me of how the wife from the Truman show was trying to distract Truman from finding out about the true nature of his reality show life by doing an impromptu advertisement of a chocolate drink powder in front of a hidden camera, to which he replied "what the hell does this have to do, with anything?".
أبد والله، جابني كتاب هيروشيما الصراحة ما توقعت اللقاء يكون بهذا الشكل
This is fucking disgusting
they played the sirens...omg...is this the worst thing ever on tv?lol
Horrifying
This is disgusting. Grin and bear it for the sake of some concocted entertainment production.
The audacity to say "this is the american way" im speechless
17:50 For historical accuracy, what Bob Lewis actually said after the bomb drop was, "My God, look at that son-of-a-bitch go!"
Despicable to spring this on him like that. And then to have those stupid commercials about nail polish is really insulting.
Well, to be fair, they also had a Holocaust Survivor on the show, so it wasn’t a new thing they did with Tanimoto. Besides, he were in The US to talk about the Bombings and gain awareness of his organization: Hiroshima Maidens. It was an organization set up to help Survivors of the bombings with reconstructive surgery. Point: Tanimoto wasn’t out of the blue put on the spot about Hiroshima. He had been talking about it before, and were in the US because of it. He is of course still hurt by the events and traumatized, and perhaps caught off guard with the introduction of Robert Lewis. But please don’t think he went on to the show unknowingly to talk about Hiroshima. He knew. Tanimoto had to deal with his emotions towards Lewis, as well did Tanimotos daughter (Koko Kando), and eventually found him to be grieving as well. A fellow survivor hurt by the events, just in a completely different way. Just look at Lewis, he is so uncomfortable in this. He doesn’t know how to look at Tanimoto and gives a awkwardl handshake. He is seriously so uncomfortable to be present with one of those he could have killed, and had to experience the horrors he only saw from above. I mean, you can hear him almost break when retelling the words he wrote “My god! What have we done!”. He hated what he did, and really wanted to present the money to help the survivors. Tanimoto is seriously surprised by that.😊 I like Robert Lewis, he is humble and grieving yet also acknowledging his actions and the consequences of it. This event is horrible in what it’s about, but its wholesome as both men acknowledge each other’s grief and eventually seems to be more comfortable with it. That donation is really something special
This show is freaking nuts. The host is just talking at this guy about the most traumatic experience of his life that occurred only a few years before like he's a cartoon character in a fantasy story. I feel bad for both Rev. Tanimoto and pilot Lewis. You can tell Tanimoto is in shock and working through so many emotions, I can't even imagine what he is going through there. No one should ne subjected to that. And Lewis looks shaken too to be looking in the eyes of a man from the city he watched get destroyed by his action. Lewis was following orders and his immediate reaction to what he witnessed suggests to me he experienced his own form of trauma that day. Say what you want about Lewis, but both of these men are human beings with complex emotions and it breaks my heart that these producers and host subjected them to this for the sake of "entertainment". Really insane
vile and evil truly
it’s like if aliens interviewed a human
20:15 I’m a hardcore right-winger, but that’s the face of a good Christian pastor that’s feeling the pain of his congregation undergoing the worst parts of warfare
"My god what have we done?" You can hear the pain in that man's voice.
I don’t think any human will have ever felt as alone as Mr Tanymoto in that moment. What could he have said or done? Surrounded by Americans, in America, face to face with the pilot who took part in the destruction of his city. I think this has been the single most vile piece of television I’ve ever seen.
this almost doesn’t feel real. what in the world.
At the risk of being pummeled, i must say i enjoyed this. It reminded me of how we as humans need to treat one another with love and respect. I feel for both of those men. One was "just following orders," and the other was simply living his life when tragedy happened for both. Can you fathom being known as one of the people who killed 100,000+ people? Or being on the other and losing friends and family all at once because of governments bickering. "We are physically here for a miniscule fraction of eternity. Display love and empathy."
This was fucked up!! Holy Cow, Superman!
I couldn't even make it past the point they played the siren noise. This poor man. Humans are truly disgusting creatures.
Americans really have been garbage since the beginning
Man, this was pure Hazel-Bishop cringe.
04.45----04.47... blimey 05.23... oh my God 05.58----06.08 what the hell
They paraded he and his family out like they were PETS with no autonomy or feelings. This is so vile.
I can unironically imagine the Ralph Edwards saying on camera in a sophisticated and happy go lucky WASP accent "Up next in our latest dog and pony show, I present to you, the Nuclear Asians!".
This is fucking appaling, the usa is a disgusting shit hole with racist cunts
I can't fucking the producers had the absolute shameless gall to greenlight this kind of interaction. Kiyoshi must have been holding every fiber of his being from not just breaking down emotionally, but throttling the man who blew up his home, killing over 100k of his people in a second, into a pulp. Unreal.
How did ANYONE think that was a good idea? Poor man.
Robert Lewis looked very remorseful
What a horrible thing to put this man through!
Incredible
Host is a world class sleazeball
He would've been the perfect choice to play "Kent Mansley" in an live action version of the Iron Giant movie.
you saying all that talk about in truth US is genociding country that does not care for human life. Iraq, Afganistan, Libiya, Vietnam I could mention more US has always been genociding fked up country. Also when US drop the atomic bomb, they didn't care about the peace, they wanted to show their power to the world so they can take over world No.1 spot, which rn trying so desperately keep the spot while igniting wars around the world. Just do simple google search how many countries US has been involved with staging coupes and military invasions. US dnt care about the atomic bomb victims. If US really care about Japan, then why did US destroy Japanese economy in 1980 when Japanese economy was going to over take the US economy?
Tiktok brought me here... and yes, I'm the one who left the link.
OMFG this is insane.
There, another tragedy fixed by american television <3 sponsored by liquid pearl shampoo!
Say what you all want about how disgusting this whole thing might be-but LPOTL simply doesn’t talk enough about Hazel-Bishop nail polish.
The pilot 100% wanted to throw up when he said he wrote my god what have we done
2:32 -- "We hope you'll have some pleasant moments!" 19:26 -- *Cheerful Ralph* "I think we really surprised your husband-- Where were you when the bomb FELL!?" what the unholy frig... :0
"Welcome back to the United States! You ready to get traumatized by being exposed to and reminded of your horrifying past that we caused?"
LPOTL brought me here ... but i needed some time to digest the episodes ... i just ... i can't process this ... i knew how godawful things were during/after the explosion i've always been amazed/horrified/disgusted by the use of the bombs on Japan and had done a lot of research, even coming across Tanimoto and the girls ... but dang skippy ... this poor man ...
I’m embarrassed to share his last name… I truly wouldn’t want to hurt anyone like this, and America is a large crockpot of indecency and bullies to put it bluntly. Not all Americans are like that, lots of us do feel and do right for any person.
Why are you embarrassed that someone who shares your last name immediately felt regret for the bombing and clearly looked like he wasn't aware of what he was going to be doing on the show? Also do you not understand that Japan first attacked the US on December 7, 1941? Then the US declared war on the Japanese. We lost more troops fighting the Japanese because they decided to essentially commit suicide by running straight into the fire of the US catching our troops off guard causing more death on our side by stabbings and gunshot wounds. We practically had no other choice than to stop the war with Japan and in 1945 the only advancement we made was an atomic bomb. Attack an animal and they'll attack back, how are you going to be mad that it reacted? That man who you hate literally donated money to help the people hit with the bomb.
Don't be embarrassed, "Edwards" is just a typical Pom name that's common among people in America and the Commonwealth. I know of much worse people who share my names but for that reason it doesn't bother me.
This is unreal... What possessed anyone to think this was a good idea? If I hadn't seen this footage I wouldn't have believed it. "Our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors who didn't was us to interrupt the agony..." Inhuman is the closest I can get to describing this.
LPOTL brought me here and it’s true what they said. Truly disgusting and disrespectful what they did to him here. And how they undercut the seriousness of the topic with beauty products is absolutely despicable. My heart breaks seeing the pain in his eyes.
"And the man who violently raped your wife is here tonight..."
American Television has always been exploitative and disgusting.
America*
This is unbelievably fucked up.
