Might want to think about mosquitos before putting a pond near the cabin.

I like water & waterfalls. so while watching your videos I'm like a small pond would look good where NOT SO DEEP well is or maybe some kind of water feature where you wanted to do your little garden gnomes. So to me I think it would benefit you in the long run. now your playing the ( what if ) game with your self. you have the sitting area so you can the ( Humming birds, your hanging flowers ) plus you can see it from your fire pit !!. the neighbor's is in your back yard not far from the cabin anyways. 👊🤛✌😁

On the pond, I thought you had a natural hollow which I thought was ideal for the dam. I had a dozer make my dam, he did a great job, just dug the blade in wind explored the sub solid for a clay bed, scooped the clay and shaped the wall and used as much clay as he could to make a thick layer in the whole pond. He had a back hoe come and dig a trench through the wall, down to the clay and then it loaded a thick layer of clay with some flocculant added. The idea was to make the wall really water retaining.

I know your still up. GO TO BED!! Also, you dont want a pond that close unless you will aerate it. You will get bugs a mosquitos your not going to want that close to home.

Too close might bring in too many skeeters and danger noodles. You're call though. Nice to be able to feed a pond with a creek. Every once in a while bringing in some fresh water. Like I said your land your decision. Good luck. I'd probably make the bad call.

I would dig out the river you cross every day and make a free flowing water hole to swim in .....

Pond too close will cause tree frogs to cover your house. My friends hate the frogs sticking to their house.

If it were my land I personally would do an above ground pool. You really don't want to build a haven for snakes to be attracted to. Although it is your call. You'd be able to see all the wildlife enjoying your pond. Definitely have someone dig it out for you so you can get deep enough for fish and maybe you could hit a spring or two. You can get a shallow well pump and hook up a pipe in the water to make a fountain keeps the water moving. ❤ Get some sleep David.

Put some purple Martin box up around the pond and bat boxes around the property and they will help control the mosquitoes and flying bugs..scatter som moth balls around areas If you see snakes..bull frogs will eat the mosquito larvae ..we have a small pond across the road from our house and it gets a lot of bull frogs.. we also get Canadian geese when they come back in the winter , we have a nesting pair that comes back every spring..

Just keep it clean so you can see. I put a pool it front of my house and had cottonmouths get on my front porch i guess after the frogs that came to the light to catch the bugs .
