Sonic Mania Plus Softlock Speedrun in 0:55.26
Speedrun of Sonic Mania Plus, getting a softlock as soon as I can. This is a "true" softlock, where I'm unable to even pause the game, and so the only option is to turn the game off (or use the dev menu). Timing starts upon starting a new file and ends upon loss of control.
This is a very optimized speedrun, with only incredibly minor room for improvement, and totally wasn't just my first attempt with a good Angel Island with me not actually caring how the spindashing-Ray-off-screen part went since this video is just meant to be a joke. Really.

Encore Mode speedrun completed while collecting all 7 Chaos Emeralds, therefore getting the Good Ending. Bad CP2, FB2, HC1, MS2, MM1, MM2. Lots of time to save everywhere else as well. I may try to push this further, we'll see. This run uses a Level Select code to disable the Super music (06 02 01 04). This code is allowed in runs as it has no effect on gameplay.

For anyone wondering, no we did not beat this shit as kids. The game was so difficult that one of the game designers job for a few months was to beat the game on master difficulty to see if it was actually possible

and i thought i was a good sonic mania player because i got all the emeralds in mania + encore mode as well as starting to get gold medals.. 32:30 aaannd that's why i hate going super in mirage act 1. It hasn't gotten me killed only once, and that's on my Sonic+Tails file.

This reminds me of the time I accidentally softlocked myself in Sonic The Dark Brotherhood's final boss because he would one shot every one of my characters, giving me no time to even last the temporary wait. And that section doesn't allow you to go back to other areas.
