    currently I cycle my tank inside got some live plants. I never add those bacterial powder. I just do " ghost feeding " crush some fish pellet to power and put inside the tank. So far my tank already running for two weeks. those live plants are not from container is i buy take from the fish pet store tank. I heard some claim like this also speed up the cycle as the plants got some biofilm? Now the problem I don't have test kit to test the water. Is there a rough sign to tell your tank is ready for shrimp? I plan to rear Neocaridina shrimp. Not those fancy expensive caridina ones. Thanks.

    Heck I’m having two SNAIL ONLY aquariums (mystery snails)!! 😂 I just started a tank for my new betta and got a bunch of plants, a couple snails were spotted 3 days ago (named them Speedy 1 and Speedy 2), Speedy 2 laid eggs yesterday (28 I think), I can’t wait for them to hatch!! Some will be moved into my neon tank, some will go into my other various tanks. 👍🏻 Snails and shrimp are my favorites. 🦐 🐌

    I’ve kept shrimp with all my male beta without issue. When I added female betas they ate 9:56 quite a few so I added a large male to beat them about. My gourami ignores the shrimp. I do feed live baby brine shrimp to my fish so that may have helped. This is in a 55gal moderately planted. I have separate 30 gal shrimp only tank that was meant to seed the 55 but the shrimp bred so well in the fish tank I haven’t had to transfer any over. Also have tetras, rasboras and a pleco in the 55

    Can you let the snails be and let neocaradina feed on their waste with small feeds, say alternate days? ..so as to not change the parameters. Will the snails still grow abundantly? I'm trying to breed Malaysian Trumpet Snails alongside coloured neocaridina - in a 5 litre (just trying out)

    Whenever setting up a tank, it's wise to keep a close eye on it. Snails come in on plants. Even when plants come from good reliable sources. If you see a snail and you don't want it, pluck it out right away. I love my snails but I'm not breeding fish so much.

    I like my snails and have them in tanks and my little ponds. I have fish that seemed to have eggs and then babies with the snails in the tank or pond. But I do not over feed and do not have tons of snails.

    • @ChrisAquaticsAUS
      @ChrisAquaticsAUS Před měsícem

      That's a great way to do it my problems with them occurred cause I am feeding my plecos lots of food for them to grow at a steady rate which also boosted the snails and the shrimp tanks I was feeding lots of different foods and the same problem occured

    I have found that snails will breed according to how much you feed. If you feed a lot, then you will have a lot of snails. I believe they have an important place in the little ecosystems that we create. Also, if you want to get rid of them, just put a piece of zucchini in before you go to bed and when you wake up it will be covered. Discard them and repeat.

    • @ChrisAquaticsAUS
      @ChrisAquaticsAUS Před měsícem

      I did that with cucumber worked like a dream I have snails in all my breeding projects and in with my shrimp and plecos that get fed lots of food so its a hard battle to win When I got the Ramshorn at first they were great until I had thousands

    • @otallono
      @otallono Před měsícem

      yup they are feeding too much. fish don't need to eat daily.. only fry do. Don't even need to remove the snails, just fix the problem then there's not enough food for them and they can't all survive. With all the plants, I've never seen an ammonia spike even with tons of snails, always assumed it was impossible.
