Kind of worried that this would demagnetise magnets. How hot does it gets?
@@Moriartijs not hot enough. I used a gauss meter to check at some point a while ago
I need to remove the outer fairing to flush the radiator but not the inner fairing, yes?
@@TheSteveSteele the cluster surrou d stays on yes
@@Mad8vCyclesThanks. I pulled it off yesterday. It’s easy. But I realized that it’s a flimsy piece of gear and is partly responsible for some rattles. Have you ever reenforced the fairing? There was a broken plastic nut that needs to be superglued.
@@TheSteveSteele i have not. But plastic is easy to fix with a soldering iron and melting zipties into it
@@Mad8vCycles Good idea. I’ll do that. I’m also going to add rubber washers to bolts and contact points, and then some acoustic dampening tape on the bare surface areas.
@@Mad8vCycles Hey, one more question if you don’t mind. Have you ever installed GXSR forks on the SV1000? If so, were there any special considerations to the install? And how did it affect the handling and front end? Same with the shock. I have a GXSR shock but the gas reservoir is on the wrong side! Thanks.
Thank you very much for the video. I need to take off the fairing to work on the front end and wasn’t quite sure where all the screws were.
That’s pretty sweet to be honest!
I have an 01 with a 2 busted up magnets in the magneto any chance you know where I can find a replacement?
@@HeadSh0tGaming just swap the flywheel, theyre cheap www.mad8v.com/products/flywheel-rotor-magnets-with-starter-clutch-1g-sv650-1999-2002?_pos=1&_sid=a0c2d7462&_ss=r

Is draining the coolant needed for a clutch rebuild?
@@themiddleman7322 on 2g yes. On 1g if youre just doing plates you can do it throught the little cover
Had an 05 for 10 years and 170k miles. You can absolutely slam gears, did it daily. Hammer 1-2 around a tight corner, kick the rear out and hold that slide allll day long. Only vehicle I’ve ever owned that I still genuinely miss even 8 years later.
@@justinvetrini7569 tell that to my transmission rebuild i just waited for 4 months for :(
Just got a sv1000 not running for free😂 clean title not running. I’m just assuming it will need a new motor
Hello, you have a video of all the assembly of the shifter because I'm trying to mount one on my sv and I can't make it?
@@kevinrodriguesferreira2643 it's pretty straightforward... either on the peg with a big allen bolt for 99-03 or on a little post with a snapring for 04+
@@kevinrodriguesferreira2643 or do you mean the anitori piece of shit? Thats basically plug and play and sits between the injector and main harness
@@Mad8vCycles Ok thanks
Thanks dude, much appreciated
Gen 3 owners note that the torque spec for the locking (lower) nut is only 20Nm on this model bike. Then back off 1/4 turn. The torque for the top nut is the same as Gen 2 at 90Nm.

Wheelies bad, but what about stoppies? They shouldn’t hurt anything right?
@@pratmak how long can you hold a stoppie lol. A few seconds wont do anything either way
@@Mad8vCycles so many repeated stoppie practice session shouldn’t mess anything up as long I am not holding it continuously right?
@@pratmak first off, i think during a stoppie oile wouldnt shift away from the pickup. Second, i dont think it's possible that youre rolling 10 second stoppies or whatever.
Will a k7 abs rear Frame fit on a k6 (650)
@@Christian-ge1xn yep theyre the same. The undertail plastic is different as are the swingarms (to accommodate the abs pump)

I always liked unique vehicles until it came to finding parts. My current project is a 95 F150 and I haven't found a part that I can't get for it. Its a belly button, but that has its advantages.
I just took a flat head screw driver and hammered it in there, took 5 seconds 😂 good video to do it the right and neat way 👍
You can probably save that axel with a grand marteau. Frustrating problem for sure. Nice catch.
@@tartredarrow theyre worth like $2 and i have 30 of them
Just wondering if the bearing in there can be replaced as well without taking the engine apart? I’m replacing my seal as well and decided to replace all those pieces plus the bearing. Thanks bro

Thank, you, helped me a lot
You are a hero.
Excellent info. I enjoyed gaining some knowledge on how lowering a Vstrom actually works. It’s backwards from what most riders think.. Thank you..
When I got my 01 SV the airbox to carb boots were loose like yours and I needed to pull the airbox apart and re-seat them. If you don't do the same you're gonna have massive intake leaks
Can you please make a video of the wiring harness on the 1st gen? (removal/replacement if possible)
That's a hell of an idea
That truck sounds awesome. What kind of exhaust do you have?
banks but truck is now fucked and has been at the shop for 3 months with no repair likely. probably scrapping it
Clutch connector had come undone in transit after buying. Everybody I asked was sending me down different rabbit holes that wouldn’t have fixed the problem. Thank you
I have a 2006 sv650s with a belly pan. Can I use the brackets that the belly pan is attached with or do i still need to rig extra brackets?
the rears may be close enough (though i dont know what your bellypan mounts look like) but the fronts from the bellypan are definitely not going to be used
🙀😾 . Hand tighten only hand tighten only ! ! It's a mantra ✋
Mines at 78k miles these re great bikes
Thank you for doing this. It was very useful to me. I guess I don't want to ride my SV650 in San Fransisco, Harlech in Wales or Dunedin in New Zealand. What about going upwards? Does the pump inlet go dry at 40° as well or is the angle different?
if you can drive up a 40* hill id be pretty impressed. youd have a hard time walking up one unless you're a roofer or something.
This guys videos are super helpful, finally someone who speaks clear English 🤦🏻
I can speak unclear english :p
Thanks very helpful
Very smart and helpfull and similar to what i thought to do, I also put straps on that rear part
Same trick I use for Trigger pins, makes sense
A lot of people on Reddit have suggested going to gsxr rear wheel only slows you down, and the wider tire isn’t helpful, you have been the most knowledgeable and where I get my information for building my own SV, so what do you think?
i went back to stock width on all the bikes. no particular benefit now that pirelli doesnt do 180 tires anymore
The newer SV650 has a 5" rear wheel.
Yep, sfv and 3g both do
im getting a c41 so hopefully its just the relay
Just in case you need it for a K3 (2003 version): please refer to similar videos regarding 1st gen SV650, as the shifter is here mounted in a different way than the one shown here.
Yep, hanging off the peg
Have the opposite situation. Had original 06 single plug engine swapped out for 07 dual plug engine. Is there an adapter fix for this where the 06 ECU will work with dual plug motor? Running ruff now and I've read this is the fix using adapter for 2nd plug wire added using a 1st Gen coil but can't find anyone who's done it. Most treads say just leave 2nd plug in engine with no wire but my bike is not running correctly with this set up or is there possibly another unrelated issue I should check. I'm very ignorant when it comes to electronics but I can handle most mechanical issues, please help if you can or maybe point me in the right direction for help as I can't find a solution, thanks 🙏
Unrelated. Dual plug engines run just fine on one plug (use the top one not the side ones).
This is the first video I've seen showing the system in the suit itself, thanks for sharing! Ordering my suit from them shortly
THIS VIDEO CAME IN CLUTCH pun slightly intended... was riding with a loose chain until i had a chance to swap to the new one i bought a week ago anyways was riding to autozone and my chain slipped off front and rear sprocket got the chain back on but clutch wasn't working come to realize that it was that outer push rod that was completely non existent when i pulled off the clutch worm thing this video helps me understand more what im looking at this sv650s i have is my first motorcycle
can you say where you buy?
a few years ago from oneidasuzuki. they're sold out i think
So this is what becomes of Pilot Motorsports after disassembling? Show me that pallet lol…
czcams.com/video/CQbFoqRRPH4/video.htmlsi=fByIjBaxpzuMykXt
Im basically just a breaker and ebay/shopify store (and racer, instructor, sv enthusiast etc)
I waited so long to hear any update from Pilot. Until finally I thawed the icebox I was in just to find out they really did disappeared. Wow… If I’d knew, I would have bought the pallet you got. I swear to you if only I had known. Those jackets and pants are 1 of a kind. If they ever make a comeback you probably would have something they may buy back from you.
Enyone could explain me then, why am I doing long wheelies (definitely more than 60-70 degree) on my SFV 650 Gladius and never ever seen red light (oil presure) ? How its possible?
You will make the engine explode if you keep doing this, so just stop...
Keep going. FOR SCIENCE!
