I owned a house with a detached garage. House windows had a reflective coating. Vinyl siding. In the afternoons the sun would reflect off the windows onto the garage. Warped the vinyl siding on the garage. Warped it bad. Never got around to fixing it, but my fix would have been some kind of trellis to hide it. I wasn't about to replace 5 windows. I hope those folks don't get their homes hit by the death rays. They should be far enough away though but that's the first thing I thought of. The garage was about 12 feet away. I use Bing as my search engine. Do a image search for 'warped vinyl siding'. All the tan ones? I could have uploaded a bunch of them. You'll notice the melt is diagonal. That's because of the tracking of the sun.

It is really sad what happened to this mill, all because our manufacturing went overseas for cheaper labor. This mill was once hustle and bustling up until the early 1980's as Capehart a Wakefern owned company and then it fell silent and eventually fell apart. Floor after floor falling down into the lower floor. There is no saving any part of this building and it will be a challenge carting all those bricks and wood away. It could have been saved years ago, but like all mills, they are left to decay and collapse upon themselves, a total shame.

I have heard rumors that there is a basement under the old sears building. There doesn’t seem to be much information online about it. Would anyone be able to fill me in?

Fun fact: around 1908 there was a new railroad around the areas of Wilberham/Monson/Palmer/beltchertown etc being put in. It would have made transport and economy boom even faster than before but it was halted and the rail road was abandoned. The pilons that you see go through out three rivers with no bridge connected are not bridges taken down, but were never put up. The owner of the railroad was coming home from London and took a ship called the Titanic. When he died the railroad stopped. and the project and materials were abandoned.

Gwinnett Place mall in GA, new in 84 is dead now, and scheduled for redevelopment as some kind of mixed use arrangement. I haven't been in it in many years, and never bought anything I needed needed there except at the Sears store (clothing and tools.) Now, I buy most everything online, even clothing. A bigger one about 15 miles north (Mall of GA) was still doing well the last time I visited it a couple years ago.

Great as always! Looks like some stairs and a remenants of planters at 7:55. I was there on Saturday and the planters of the Sears entrance were still there but they'll be gone within days. One cool thing about it is if we use our imagination we can picture what it all looked like when it was just Sears and they were building the mall. And if we imagine a little harder we can imagine the mall going up the way it came down and poof! we have our mall back! Yay!

You got that, historic aerials? Don't SPACE OUT. People can be VIEWERS. Aerial photos go back to 1957. Nothing. Old maps with gaps go back to 1893. Structures are black dots. No black dots where the mall is, other than something on Boston Road for a few years.

I really can't see the replacement for the property doing gangbusters. At the end of the day, it's people buying stuff (or not). The empty Sears next door is going to be a buzzkill. I would assume that Eddie Lampert owns the property through Transformco. If the replacement does well, he may try to do something with the building. If not, my guess it's going to sit there empty for a long time.

Crazy to think that everything you see in this video is gone.......all of the historic architecture has been destroyed forever. I can hardly look at the interior pictures I took over the summer, it bothers me that much
