FIRST PATCH: very interesting to hear this discussion. For those of us playing keys for over half a century, brings back memories of our "first time" with each synth, our age of innocence :) Today, after hearing hundreds of synths, digital pianos, sample players and performing on hundreds of keybeds, I don't care how impressive it sounds. I want to know how creative it is for a sound designer searching for that sound that is inside my head, a sound that is original. Over the last 56 years I have come to know that those factory patches don't indicate creativity, only what this particular synth happens to be strong at. IF a synth is creative enough, I can take average sounding oscillator and build incredible sounds with it...when performed by a high skilled musician. The performers skill is also a determining factor in what a synth is capable of. And as great as a synth sounds, if it takes a thousand menu dives to create it...well...I am too old to spend that much time, I don't have much time left. :) After all these years we still don't get the kind of synth that is creative and expressive except very rarely: physical control with minor menu diving, modulation routing galore, and a keybed with expression and complete control. Summit / Gaia / Matriarch / DeepMind12 / PolyBrute / as affordable synths. And with much more money others, like that wonderful PolyBrute12 with that amazing keybed with PAT. Plenty of powerful menu synths out there, and I will program them occasionally but try to avoid them until all my analog and physically controlled digital options have been exhausted. It must be very expensive and/or difficult to make synths like the JD800 even today??? Give me a big 88 key synth with a panel full of 100's of physical controllers and great sound...but they don't make them.

Just need to buy a mansion for the synthesizers. The metal vertical racks are good and simple to put together. I have several of them.

Here he is again, posing nude with a Timbre Wolf. He thinks people should be impressed by how quickly he can move his digits, but I'd rather listen to a ruddy sewing-machine.

It was great having Jordan Rudess on your show, and congratulations on that!!! Questions were good. My only problem is that Kent didn't have the chance to talk and ask him a question. Kind of rude....from your side Robbie. Also, I think it's time to share my opinion on having Andrew on your show. Honestly, I've done enough self analyzing work about how much I dislike him and he shouldn't have that role on your show. Since it's him involved, I don't have the same respect and excitement about watching your show. I really appreciate all the good content and the work you put for this. Bests!!!

Oh FFS complaining about the TEO-5 not having levels controls on the oscillators...have you ever seen an OB-Xa or OB-8? They don't have it either. It is an Oberheim!!! They're making it true to Oberheim...my god guys...get your shit together. What a shit review of this product. In fact, you can change the levels...in the menu...$1500 for real Oberheim sound...with an incredible matrix mod section.

Behringer's got a good point in my opinion. If you can't afford the big boy, and everybody else is doing iterations of other of other hardware synths. Who the f*** cares? I certainly don't. Put it in perspective, to make a pair of blue jeans you usually have to go through at least five different countries. If the product is worthy and well made. I say go for it. Competition is good for everybody.

I wish he'd turned up the synth's volume. After close mics the sounds were far to quiet to show off the power of the sounds imho. Is he new to sound design/production, lol?!

What I really love about all the Cherry Audio synths is their distinctive sonic signatures are all quite different. It really feels like having the actual units in your studio. I did at one stage and it was the combination of hardware sonic signatures that I loved having that hardware for. But I feel I am getting the same thing with the Cherry Audio emulations. And Chroma is no exception. It has a very strong sonic signature to it. And not quite like anything else either. It sounds great and different. Blending so well with everything else. The Arpeggiator is something else too once you get used to it.

I bought Cherry Chroma the first day primarily to thank Cherry Audio for taking on the task of emulating the synthesizer that teased me from the time ARP showed off its original prototype. The workload and skill it took to pull this off is staggering. Thank you Cherry Audio .

I think it hit a nerve because we're currently going through a period where in a number of ways (evaporating royalties on streaming, various ai ripping off huge numbers of artists and simultaneously taking their jobs) the arts are currently actually being crushed by big tech and this was just too on the nose. & the imagery of destroying instruments is just inherently unpleasant.

Kent, the man, the legend. So glad he's still a part of the show years later.

Great show just one point, the large modular system with the wings Rob asked what it was and Kent said isn't a Moog is actually a Moon modular with what looks like some original Moog modules mixed in. Moon modular are an updated 5u moog style modular system.

Roland should quit making you connect to the cloud to run instruments that you have bought lifetime keys for. Regarding the Apple ad, there is a trend towards thinking computers can do everything. Why learn a real musical instrument at school? And that is happening. I don't think the big issue is crushing a few real instruments. The issue is the trend to think that real instruments are no longer important to have. You guys may have missed the bigger picture in your analysis of the outrage about the ad - big technology crushing culture.
