Welcome to Fishing with David Pyle. My mission is to promote Salmon Fishing through videos and Guided fishing trips on the Columbia River, Willamette River, Buoy 10, Astoria, Tillamook, Bonneville Dam, and the Portland/Vancouver metro area. I have a variety of "How To" videos that can provide viewers with my fishing techniques. In the normal course of my videos I try to show the viewers the specific gear I'm using, the date, location, bait, and fishing depth. I hope that sharing my fishing experiences can help everyone catch more fish. Please subscribe to my channel to get notifications of when each new video is posted. Great day fishing with my friend David Pyle. The story on the fish, I had just cleaned grass off it and had just put it back out. Both of us thought it had grass on it again. Neither of us saw the hit. Great seeing it on video.
Thanks for sharing. I am impressed by how Tony wants to preserve as much meat as possible. Meat spooned along the spine, near fins and collars are excellent for salmon patties. Bon Appetite

I’m planning on taking some buddies out trolling, where r you having the best luck right now? I was planning on making a pass thru the mouth of multnomah channel but I’m not really a salmon fisherman and am not hip with what’s working right now
Sorry for the late reply. The fishing is best in the Ocean right now but if you want to fish the river go to the mouth of the Willamette.

I saw you guys that day. That’s me coming up behind you during the intro. When I was following you, I slowed down and matched your speed. When I turned around behind you and went towards the Columbia, I caught a really nice hatchery chinook going that speed. Watching your videos has helped me a lot and then fishing around you helped me also. Thanks for all your help David !!

Jay, thank you for commenting. I'm not a teacher at a Jr HS or HS but I do teach people how to troll for salmon. I have a "Guided Education" service that I provide as a professional fishing guide.
Nice fish, David! I've noticed that many of the eats lately have come on the most forward rods. Do you have a theory for why that is?
I really don't know why those rods are performing and my back rods have been pretty quiet this season. It should be noted that most of my fish have been caught trolling with the current and the first rods that the fish see are the bow rods. When fishing against the current my bow rods don't get touched.
Are those shimano Tekotas you're running? Those seem like a sweet reel but at twice the price of other line counters it's a hard sell. I'm curoius to get your 2 cents on them.
Okuma Coldwater reels, not Shimano. They are pretty good reels in my opinion although they are not cheap.

Are you using a hoochie with your spinners?
Yes. I run both "naked" spinners and hoochies. I currently don't see one better than the other.
@@DavidPyle Thanks. I've been running mostly with pink hoochies and wondering if I should offer the fish a choice.. A carryover from Buoy 10 with me.

I've had some good days with Hot Tamale in the late spring. It's either on or off, just like every other lure. Haha.
Amazing day! All 3 on the same side of the river, and all on your front rods... You may need to move your camera forward to capture the bow-rod action! You should consider a camera capturing the action on your livescope screen... that would be so cool!
Yes, I need to film the Livescope. More cameras = more time editing. I need a camera man and editing team.
David, what is the advantage to keeping your big motor in the "up" position..... 🤔
My autopilot is able to steer the boat better with the big motor out of the water. I can also turn really tight U-turns. It's a huge difference.
