Hello Everyone, my name is Tom. My channel will be focused on sharing with you, my time in nature. Many of the outdoor activities and projects will be centered around my home and also The Trailer at The Land where my father and I spent so much time along with other special places in Wisconsin. "The Trailer" at "The Land" has been in my family now over 50 years.
The channel will also focus on being positive and present (something I need to work on more) while encouraging everyone to try something new, get out into nature and appreciate how learning about nature can provide well-being and peace. I may add an occasional poem of mine along with one of my photographs. I appreciate your time spent with me in nature!!

How to Ice Fish
Incredible ice fishing day in northern Wisconsin. Lots of action!!
We were fishing with tip-ups for Northern Pike and hoping for a possible Walleye. The ice was only 6-8 inches thick on a almost 50 degree day.
Fishing was very active and the dogs had a ton of fun.

Pheasant hunting with my friend Mike and his 2 dogs.....I call them.........Thing 1 and Thing 2. aka Remi and Jade I tried to hunt and video at the same time.....pretty difficult but got some good video I hope? This is my 5th bow hunt for a whitetail deer. Its been warm and its early in the season. I have been seeing many deer but not a large buck. I define a shooter as having a 15 inch inside antler spread along with at least 8 points. Picking acorns and Hazel Nuts

Spent time this Fall collecting White Oak acorns, Burr Oak Acorns and Hazel Nuts. Goal is to use them to regenerate trees and shrubs in areas where Oak Wilt (disease that kills Oak trees) has killed many trees and opened the forest floor to much sunlight. Also going to plant the Hazel nuts to benefit deer, turkeys, and several types of birds that eat them. A future video will show me planting them

These types of hunts are great opportunities to watch and learn about deer habits. This hunt had a small 1.5 year old buck walk by my stand. This video beat me up a bit.........made mistake with an upside down video for about 10 seconds. Loading time too me over 6 hours with some issues too......better next time

We have 750 acres here in East Texas and have the same "rules." If you want to shoot a great buck you have to pass on the good ones. Great video! Lasting memories are made at deer camp.
Agreed, Thanks for comment! Its been difficult some years convincing hunters to pass on 1.5 yr old bucks........Glad our current camp is "letting them grow"

Appreciate the comment!! Yes, much work happening. Enjoy watching it over the upcoming years. its going to be ugly in 2024 as we prep for planting with native grasses and wildflowers. 2025 will still be messy but by 2026 it should look great. So happy my neighbor also joined with me.

Noticed more bats in my yard this year also. I try to keep track of them by sightings. Do alot of nighttime fly fishing close to that area and saw more this year. One year I accidentally snagged one casting the fly rod and sadly he didn’t survive. Also had one actually pick dry fly off surface and dropped it that same year. Glad someone is trying to help them..Thx.
We count bats ever month during the Summer and have noticed more lately so thats good to see. You must get out a bunch fishing!! Appreciate the comment

Yes, too many does for sure. Trying to reduce them but the old guys I hunt with grew up not shooting does so its a challenge

@LandWhisperer I hunt in Vilas County on public land, wondering what County your camp is in?
We are in Portage county. How is the deer population up North? Been hearing its still falling. do you think its wolves or bears or also possibly the forests getting too mature and not enough clear cuts and fire??
@@LandWhisperer I have a house and a few acres up there and we hunt on public about 2 miles away. The deer seem to relate to the same areas that people inhabit and stay in the area of cabins/houses. Maybe it's that some folks are feeding, but I know my direct neighbors are not feeding. There are many deer in that area, I harvested a ragged rack, but good size 6 pointer Sunday morning of opening weekend. I've had property up there for 25 years and I've never seen a wolf, heard a couple but never seen. Now, coyote on the other hand are more likely the problem if there is one.

Great capture of WI deer camp!! Brings back lots of memories for me. The camp and relationships were always better than the hunt for us. We were up in Ashland county. So is your home on the same property as your trailer/camper?
Thanks for nice reply! Agreed the people make the camp for sure. My dad was born and hunted in Ashland. I have never hunted Northern Wisconsin.....maybe some day. My home is separate and not in same location as deer camp
Northern WI is desolate compared to any other location in WI for deer. Your place looks much more robust, stick with what ya got. If you want to go up north hunting go in early fall and atv or bird hunt, lots of land up there to roam around. Good luck next year!

great video 11k for a forty i bought my 40s in far northern wi in 1970 along with new car i was 19 paid 3400 for car and 33 dollars an acer still have car and land probably be laid out in car buried on property love your camp

Great representation of a Midwest Deer camp! And we use the Rule that you mentioned has to be a bigger buck than any buck you’ve shot prior. And a Euro mount at a minimum and all mounts stay at deer camp which is a 6400 sq fr log home.
