I don't know why you didn't state the tire difference sizes. They are WAY bigger on the LE's than the ZL1's. Also, you basically equipped the LE's looks on a ZL1. It's a bit dishonest. For the price, the LE package is a way better buy. Whenever you're getting into HP numbers past 500, your concern should be controlling.
LAst track day at VIR, I befriended a ZL1 1LE owner and got him to take me around the track for one session. Such a fantastic car!

Was there any driveability issues? What were the symptoms. Trying to diagnose one myself.
The primary cats failed multiple times, excessive heat at the headers, ran lean at WOT.
I have a '22 ZL1 1LE and you are wrong about the rearview camera. The camera in the shark fin is the only way you can see over the rear wing.
It only was not an option 19-20 for some reason on the ZL1 1LE. It became standard in 2021.

SS1LE owner here and an engineer. I always dismissed the open hood cai dyno comparisons which neglects the heat soak during operation with hood down. I know K&N, AFE and Green drop in filters are pretty good with the downside of filtration efficiency in the long run and maf sensor problems due to too much oil application during service intervals.

I wonder how the Cold Air Inductions (Chevrolet Performance Intake) compares? It’s a sealed “high flow” intake.
The seal is not as good as the stock. The only Cold Air Induction that seals good is the Carbon Fiber one but for $1,000 its a rip off
DBA is a old OE supplier and also worked with supercar teams for many decades. They know what they are doing. Same can be said for brembo.
Very cool but why are the slots so wide of the pinch weld is only an 1/8” thick?
They are oversized most likely because the pinch weld isn’t consistently flat. They may also be manufactured for multiple applications.
The best looking and most functional ZL1 race car I’ve seen so far is the one Patience Metal Fabrication built. Their cage is insane and the swing is so dang cool.

Those DBA are absolute tanks. Would rather run those than giro’s. I ran giros on my c7z and they had uneven heat issues if I didn’t slowly warm them up I think because they were thinner and cooled off faster on long straights

Have you used stock rotors with race pads? I would be very curious on the longevity of DBA vs OEM. I had to replace my OEM rotors after 12 track days. 9 of those were at Road America. 6 of the 9 days at Road America were on 1.11s (which I am also moving away from to GLOC. Had a great experience with R16s at NCM.). The other 6 were on OEM pads.
I do not, but Ron (Red/White ZL1) runs Hawk DTC-70 pads with stock rotors this season. How did your OEM rotors fail, thickness or cracking?
@@RacingforALS Thickness. I had such little cracking I didn't measure thickness until season was over. Ended up being 1MM below discard thickness, 33M

I don't see what the standard factory alignment is.....
Any shop with an alignment rack will have the factory alignment specs in the computer.
Thx! Opinion on a good street alignment spec on a ZL1 w/stock wheels/tires? Still have the factory alignment.
I would stick with the factory alignment specs with periodic checks for street driving. The original factory alignments are notoriously bad, so I would get it checked even if you don't notice accelerated tire wear.

I went with the ZL1 cuz even when i do get out onto Road America, I'm not trying to set lap times. I just enjoy the day. I do get to the drag strip more often and there, I'm getting after it as hard as i can. I like my magnetic ride. 2023 ZL1.

Anyone modding these car knows they have to managing IATs on these infernos, if you are staying stock there is no reason to have an intake only. Plenty of testing has been done and proves the gains of 5” inlets/103-120mm throttle bodies in the 800+ who range. While Mr. Banks knows his stuff and oxygen density is the most important factor of an intake, it is disingenuous in his snippet of presentation showing a stock LS3 with a hot air intake slamming the industry for making such a product. There is no free lunch, back your learnings with data/logs. If my Interchilled 2650 car went back to a factory TB and airbox I’d lose a tremendous amount of air volume and increase plenum vacuum causing additional pumping losses.
Good points, but ultimately you need outside air on a road course when coolant temperatures are 230+. It doesn’t have to be the stock airbox, but the Rotofab isn’t adequately sealed from the engine compartment. Thanks for sharing your well written explanation.

I now have a ZL1 and it's great. But the magride seems soft to me even on the track setting. Some guys do buy the DSSV setup and others have done a KW V3 setup to replace it. Thoughts? Also, thoughts on rear subframe bushing lockout for the non-LE knowing that the ZLE aluminum parts are avail from GM? Next, the ZL1 6th gear is weird to me but it should save gas on highway cruising.
A DSC Sport Controller allows you to tune the magnetic shocks to your preference and has additional inputs for more active control. The DSSV shocks and spring rates of the ZL1 1LE are barely tolerable on rough roads but fantastic on the track. The bushing lockout isn't bad, but replacing the subframe bushings with the OEM aluminum is a major job.
@@RacingforALS Yeah thx! I may try the DSC unit but the programming I hear can be convoluted. I may also pair that with Swift OE style springs. Apparently the ZLE front rates are 450 lb/in and I've driven higher than that before but not in a Camaro. Yes because the OE rear bushings are such a big job, the BMR lockout kit looks like a good option.
You forgot the other reason to get the 1le is so the areo lol I'd rather have the looks of 1le and suspension of normal zl1

I'll be sticking with factory rotors and pads. The $86 saved is not worth it if it results in any extra weight.
Factory rotors are a good option. When you wear them out, save the hats and hardware for future options.
I have a habit of watching any video that CZcams recommends with less than 1000 views. It is my way of helping the smaller channels. Keep it up!

What wheels and tires are you running at road Atlanta? I’m running apex 19 in with stock 3rs now. But been debating about 18s squared
I have been running ZL1 1LE factory sized Goodyear 3R's for the last couple of years. I did run a square 305-30-19 RE71R setup for Time Trials on the old car. It increased the oversteer bias and reduced the corner exit traction, so it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. A square setup is much better for maximizing tire life. You may have to adjust alignment and sway bars to get it balanced. I've got too much invested in 19" wheels to experiment.
