The reason there is no bagpipe is because the CD mastering engineer faded before it came in. Dumb.

Thanks for the CTS showcase. You can hear the bagpipes on the original vinyl versionof Sleep. For some reason, the cd version fades out about 30 seconds too early from the vinyl. I think it was a screw up but who knows for sure. Great show!

First saw them in 1976 at the Baltimore Civic Center. I was impressed. In my opinion they blew away Boston and Foghat. We listened to them constantly at Severna Park High School!

Mac is back! Sorry to see Glenn and Dave move on. This is a group of talented, friendly people connected to their fans. I’ve been one since 1975. I’ve be able to see them live at least a half dozen times in the last ten years and introduced them to my sons.

The only thing that sucks, is on the original vinyl album the very end of "Sleep" goes on for like a minute or more and it just slowly adds more and more instruments, like bag pipes and all kind of things. But apparently the source tape want bad at the end and they couldn't save it when it was transferred to digital. If you ever listen to that original album you'll hear it, and it was really cool and worth a listen for what it's worth.

I'm so grateful, as a young woman, to see you four appreciating and supporting her music. Your commentary is truly lovely.

ok but no where near as intense, but have any of you 4 heard or heard of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard? They jump around genres even more, but also stay in one place more, also they have 24 studio albums in 14 years.

Their Album "Machine" from 2010 is a Masterpiece! "The Sale" from 2007 is another great album.

The original ending to Sleep is waaaaaaaay longer. When remixed for CD, for some reason they cut it short. It was a very extended ending with plenty of acoustic guitars and orchestra. They also faded the ending to the song We Want Mine from second album, Animal Notes. Originally the song stopped/ended randomly in middle of a measure. Almost fell over when they duplicated that random ending live. That's why was so disappointing they faded that ending on the CD re-release.

Sad I missed this from 2 years ago, being a huge CTS fan. Also sad by views how unnoticed the band has been all these years. Great to see panel appreciate what they're hearing on first listen. Was in a Top 40 band back in a day, and we covered Mind Baby, I Don't Have a Tie and She's A Dancer. Great fun to play. So much great music to listen to, but suggest Animal Notes, Ghost and Safety in Numbers next.

The creativity - how surprisingly interesting they make everything! Huge music fan!! Alice In Chains is my absolute favorite and I too am not a Beatles fan! 😂😂😂 I try but I don’t get it. Actually, before Kansas had the Wayward Son hit, I saw them with Bad Co. I actually went to see Kansas mostly.They entered though the back of the N.O. Auditorium. As I remember it, 3 members wearing kilts and playing the bagpipes in procession up the center isle. Funny because I kept hearing the cheers but no one was on the stage! But the bagpipes rang out and then I knew. I was not at a good vantage point to know it because I was front left to the stage and was general admission. BC should have opened for Kansas and not vise versa.

Glad to see that some remember this group/song played over the air a lot here. I saw them when they were touring (i suppose) with ELO back when the album's first release. I thought they were very talented and loved the show but didn't really follow them as I did many prog bands since so many during that period. The radio station forgot about them too. They never appeared again in my area back in the day when I was hitting lots of concerts. Since yall commented on a band that flew under the radar, do yall remember Captain Beyond? Dancing Madly Backwards, 1000 days of Yesterday/Frozen Over?

Igorrr also toured alone with his Album Nostril. I saw him at "Maschinenfest", which was more a Rhythm and Noise / Industrial Festival in Germany. I loved his performance, bought the Album and think "Excessive Funeral" is still his best track.

I can clear up the bagpipe issue on Sleep. The original vinyl record lists the track at 7:48. It actually runs around 7:18. Probably a misprint. The CDs run at 6:25. They had to fade the song early because the master had deteriorated and become unusable. There are indeed bagpipes that come in and you can't miss them. They are very prominent at the end. A much more satisfying Fade. John, if you have a copy of the original debut on vinyl that you can hear check it out. Thank you for this episode. I'm always curious to see first time responses to hearing this band. Especially younger folks. John Palumbo has been extremely prolific as a songwriter over the years. He's written well over 500 songs. He's had many side projects aside from CTS. The band is currently working on an all new acoustic album called From The Wood.
