I was brought up by a single mother in an extremely poor area of Edinburgh in the 1980s. Jordan has a lot of interesting points that are valid. Intellectual astuteness doesn't make you wise. It just makes you bored with everything quickly and also with everyone. You need to somehow come to grips with that and learn how to accept people on all different levels of intellectual development. Also you have to either teach at a university or get into a field where you won't feel oppressed by the ultimate lack of creativity or do creative things but be poor. So hard to find a balance. It's a challenge because Jordan is right that society doesn't owe you anything just because youre smart.
