Seems like it held up to a lot of abuse. The sliding back into position is probably not much different than a scope that sticks a bit on its adjustments and then jumps into place after a shot. Not ideal, but not exactly uncommon with lower budget options. I wonder if even just letting the slide drop a few times would be enough. Obviously not ideal in a live situation but like you said, it doesn't go so far off that at close quarters you're going to totally miss.

It's a dang shame you had to put a "disclaimer" on the size of the doe you shot. Whatever happened to the days of shooting which ever deer made you happy AND congratulating your fellow hunter on a successful hunt. I have a large family myself and we put around 5-7 deer per season in the freezer. If they're big mature bucks or does, then awesome. But if they aren't, awesome too. Around here there is NO shortage of deer. Private or national Forrest is full of deer. If a person is a "horn hunter", fine. Be happy with your hunt, BUT, also be happy with your fellow hunters harvest as well. Fellas, we're discouraging a pile of future hunters to enjoy the bounty of hunting and good quality protein. Great hunt sir! Good luck this season!

I just picked up the new P-09c Nocturne. I’ve had a few P-07’s before, including the P-07 Duty. Other than the extra texture grip, better slide serrations, and optic cut (RMSc), it feels just like the P-07. The Omega trigger needs break-in, so I dry-fire mine a couple hundred times a night.

    • @TheOutdoorGeneralist

@@dinadaughtry8993 yep! This particular ammo is running about 100fps faster than a typical 7.62x39 loading from a 20” barrel (based on 7.62x39 velocity vs barrel length data from rifleshooter.com.) This, combined with the higher ballistic coefficient of the .264 bullet results in a flatter trajectory and more energy on target at distance. It also tends to be more accurate, but I think that’s mostly a function of the rifles it’s chambered in. Thanks for watching!

I have started using Low-Pressure Smokeless loads in my 50 caliber factory muzzleloaders and now offer that load data on 2 DVDs. With BH209 selling North of $120 per pound many people are looking for an alternative. (Low Pressure 50 Caliber Smokeless Loads in a 209 Factory Muzzleloader, 2 DVD set | eBay) These 2 DVDs contain a demonstration of using Low Pressure Smokeless Loads in a 50 caliber factory muzzleloader. Savage Arms proved over 20 years ago that a factory muzzleloader can use smokeless powder. A retired Science Teacher/Gunsmith/Inventor used a strain gauge glued to a rifle barrel and the Pressure Trace II computer interface to compare the pressures produced by Blackhorn209 propellant to pressures which can be produced by ten different smokeless powders. These ten smokeless powders do not contain the corrosive oxidizers which can rust a rifle barrel. The loads developed produced a pressure equal to or less than that of 84 grains by weight of Blackhorn209, which a common Black Powder substitute made up of 83% smokeless powder (nitrocellulose). However, Blackhorn209 does contain corrosive chemicals. These loads were then fired in a factory inline muzzleloader with a shank diameter of about one inch. These DVDs are sold for entertainment purposes only. The producer cannot guarantee these loads will work safely in all factory 209 muzzleloaders.

It looks like you have two issues. First, it would appear that your gun has a fairly long throat. Hand loading is probably the only viable solution unless you rebarrel or just run it like it is. The second issue is barrel harmonics. Maybe it's the can, you'd have to remove it to find out. Something is inconsistent with the bullet leaving the barrel. Suppressors can affect accuracy, so it probably wouldn't hurt to shoot some without it.

I really don't understand why Savage does not make a rifle in 280AI with a 24" barrel! They seem to do some weird things such as making their 300 WSM's with a two round magazine capacity whereas other manufactures make their rifles in 300 WSM with a three-round capacity. My guess is they are trying to save money in their manufacturing processes.
