Thank you for the encouragement and kind words. I admire you as a wife who dealt with having a blind husband as i know it adds a lot to your plate. I trust that the LORD blesses women like Sarah (my wife) and you because you have no idea how it hits a man “in the gut” to feel a little helpless and like he’s not contributing to the home. @@williamguilkey2033 Yes, I believe it was somewhat easier for my husband after he went to live at The Iowa Veterans Home. He was always a nuclear marine test pipefitter although he hadn't been doing the job for almost 20 years went he went to the Veterans Home.

First of all, thank you for being so patient in giving me a chance to respond. I have been out of state for our annual, family reunion and just got home last evening. I’m finally settling down to take time to respond. I would start with a word of encouragement, that being that anyone having a true desire to follow God rightly, should take heart and trust that such desires are themselves, a work of the Holy Spirit. We are reminded in Scripture that the carnal mind cannot please God. We, in our lost condition, were not even capable of thinking in ways that show a desire to please God, so take heart, my friend! That being said, we know there are scores of people who live in hypocrisy, so we always want to check our motives a bit by asking, “is my desire to please God and grow in Him or am I somehow wanting to be recognized as a ‘good person’ and receive the praise of men/women?” If you are satisfied that you are in Christ and want to please God, I would encourage you to spend a lot of time in the Bible, especially Paul’s epistles (Galatians and Ephesians are two excellent books to “camp out in” for a while). What you generally find in Paul’s letters is that the first half of a book, he will mostly lay the foundational groundwork of the Theology he is teaching, while the back half gives the practical measures for walking it out in our lives. For example, Ephesians starts by showing us God’s choice of us for salvation and how we were “dead in our trespasses and sins,” culminating in that glorious phrase … “BUT GOD …!” You then see in chapters 4-6 how we should behave in light of these truths. To simply go to chapters 4-6 without understanding the truths of chapters 1-3 puts us in danger of striving for w “works righteousness” (i.e. “putting the cart before the horse,” so to speak). Christian FRUIT always flows from a LIVING ROOT (Christ in saving faith followed by the Holy Spirit working fruit out in our lives). It’s as we continue to trust and obey, that we see our roots grow deeper and our fruit begins to abound more in Christ and thru Christ. You mentioned you may have a less mature or newer faith, so let me leave you with two reminders that are meant to encourage you . . . 1. We walk by faith. Not every moment will we “feel” saved or good or assurance or ecstatic etc. Our aim/focus is on Christ so that we know we are glorifying God. This can be difficult, but saving faith is not always “felt.” The proof it’s there is that we CONTINUE (thru many valleys, ups-and-downs, toils and snares as we are enabled by Christ thru faith). 2. It takes time. I was born again about 20 years ago in the first years, it seems like i took 2 steps forward and 5 steps back in my walk with Christ. If i looked at myself on a day-to-day basis, I would think i was getting nowhere and could doubt my salvation. However, looking back from a long-range view (20 years), i can see how far God has brought me. It truly is amazing grace! Does this mean I’ve arrived? Of course not! I need the LORD more today than ever. I still stumble and fail, but one sign of life in me is that I’m at war with my sin. I do not find habitual sinning to be a comfortable mattress to lie down on. I want to be with God and His presence. I am sorry for the length of this response but i wanted to give you a “real” answer. I really appreciate your question and you kind comment. God bless you. 😊

It is ok to take it out and you are right, you can pack so much more in a box without the packaging. Also, the places they go may not have good waste facilities so removing the packaging is a really good thing. All our items are new, and they can tell by the condition, packaging not needed.

I would love to know which filling she uses. I saw another recipe that was similar to the “bumps” in the bumpy cake. I think I’ll try that next time. (Not asking for her recipe just wondering if she uses marshmallow fluff or uses the recipe you cook on the stove).

​@@GuilkeysLimitedAdventuresI am the above commenter's daughter. I do not add marshmallow fluff in my fillings. I do sometimes make a fruit filling, but my basic fillings are flavored buttercreams. I have a chocolate raspberry whoopie pie that gets a spoon of raspberry jelly on top of my buttercream. I also use a piping bag to pipe my buttercream on.

Sounds delicious!! I want to make them again sometime without the marshmallow fluff.
