You can’t really compare a gun situation to sex. One thing with a gun, a bullet don’t know nobody. If you as a parent have a gun laying around the house where it’s easily accessible where the kids can easily access it and play with it then YOU as a parent failed. YOU as a parent become wreckless. But if you wanna use a gun as as example, you better make sure your kids know what that gun will do, what happens if you pull that trigger, what happens if you move that selector from safe or even if the weapon don’t have a safety. Let them know that this is not to be played with. Bottom line is, knowledge is wisdom lol #ThisIsScary 🤣

I agree with Fatime on the parent thing. You have to have those uncomfortable convos with your teenage kids. That’s the problem. Parents don’t have sex educational talks with their kids. When their hormones start to kick in, it is age appropriate to have those convos. Yes , you should always tell them to wait to have sex, but we all are human and move off of feelings and things happen. Especially when it’s constantly playing in their mind. They start to meditate on those thoughts and eventually , they will act on it. I don’t believe in setting kids up for failure. You should always have an open door policy , you should always be that safe space for your child. In case they are having sex, always let them know to protect themselves. That’s just like some mothers don’t properly teach their female child how to wash the vagina or how to properly apply a tampon, how often should you change your pad. Your teenage child should know these things. If your son or daughter is coming to you out of curiosity and want to know these things, if they have questions, please guide them. tell them because you as the parent, have the wisdom and the experience. Kids are more advance these days. Just like we all were teenagers, we all had those thoughts . They are getting exposed to things by other kids because that’s who they are around. Someone might expose them to porn, now they get curious. Always suggest the right way, yes let them know they are too young to be having sex, let them know the pros and the cons. Teach them to have value, substance, morals /standards.

My husband and I have been together for 13 years and his son has been disrespectful and entitled for so long. We’ve been together since he was 2, the mom has alienated him always but the last 3 years I thought we had come so far but right before he came for the summer he started his crap all over again and it was the most miserable summer. My husband feels guilty disciplining the son but he had so many talks and my husbands mom ended up meeting my stepsons stepdad but not before I told my stepson if he was one of our girls talking to me the way he was he would have been picking himself off the floor. The mom lets him speak disrespectful to her and I even told him he better start respecting her and his stepdad and for damn sure if he’s coming to my house he will respect me and his dad. I’m so sick of the mom and him being just complete A-holes. It’s part the mom but most importantly their 15 year old son needs his ass whooped. I don’t allow my kids to disrespect me in my house and I damn sure am not going to let him come up in my house and cause bs. We also told him from now on the video games aren’t allowed at our house. Seems to be part of it, won’t listen and get off the damn thing and we have let him game more than his mother. I don’t know what to do anymore but it won’t happen in my home anymore.

My husband and I are going through something similar with his 2 sons. Only I am not the one being disrespected as the stepmom, but my husband is. He does most of the cooking, as the kids complain about the times I have cooked. The 18 year old won't even give my cooking a chance. But they have also started complaining about their father's cooking too.When they want food from outside, they will get food from outside. They also leave lights on after me telling them time and again not to. They both raise their voice to their father when they don't get their way. The boys came to the US from Egypt with their mother almost 2 years ago( who only comes around whenever she feels like it). They have lived with us since October 2022. I don't understand why my husband puts up with the disrespect like he does but I believe that it might be he feels guilty for leaving them when he came to the US in 2016. The kids were 11 and 4 at the time. But, anyways, I have considered leaving the marriage until he can get a backbone and put his foot down to his ungrateful kids

I SWEAR it was almost like listening to my own story!! His kids are the MOST disrespectful people I’ve EVER seen!!! I love my bonus grandchildren but now the kids threatened to not see him or let him see his grandchildren 🙄 because they don’t like me!! His baby girl (24yrs old) attacked me PHYSICALLY and I didn’t even fight back because that was his child. Your husband is married to you. Your husband has to set boundaries . He has to make sure his kids do not disrespect you . Bottom line step kids are a big problem. They are ungrateful, spoiled and do not deserve a good step parent. In your case a divorce might be your best choice.

Stepparents are always turned in to the villain and treated poorly. It doesn't change and if your spouse isn't willing to stop that behavior, that says everything. You deserve better and are worth more than that. No matter how well you treat them, it won't matter. it's their blueprint and how they were raised. Any attention taken off the kids cause issues, especially when it's given to the stepparent. When you try to put in place healthy boundries and say no to allowing that treatment in your home to you or your spouse, the kids/teens don't like that, especially when they are used to running the household prior to you coming into it. Many divorced parents parent out of guilt and give their kids anything. Then when a new person comes into the picture it's a problem for the kids/teens.

For me its my husbands adult children. They have been liars & disrespectful to me . He has not confronted them in my defense. Even if he wants to go see them it angers me . Why because he has not put them in their place.
