RINGFEDER® Locking Assemblies Optimized for Bending Loads
Uncompromising performance under extreme loads with specially developed RINGFEDER® Locking Assemblies for Bending Loads: One of the most challenging applications for our locking devices are belt drums which are used, e.g., in mostly large-scale conveyor systems for iron or copper ore, coal and other mineral resources. The shaft-hub connections used between the drum shaft and the drum base are subject to enormous additional stresses by axial and transverse forces and especially by bending loads which - in addition to the required torque - must be transmitted constantly and reliably. Therefore, RINGFEDER® Locking Assemblies for Bending Loads have been optimized in regard to material strength, surface quality and internal tension in order to effectively prevent e.g. shaft breakage, axial migration or plastic deformation of the drum base and thus cost-intensive repairs and production downtimes. The backlash-free, friction-fit locking devices ensure highest possible operational dependability in belt drum applications and are also convincing due to their easy handling as well as complete freedom from wear and maintenance.

    Two questions: 1. Isn't 7006 supposed to be mounted with the flange leaning on the end disc? that way it prevents the end disc from being pushed by the keyless locker. 2. 7012 is not self-centering, and the catalog recommends a centering bore in the back, how do you avoid runout during installation?

      Dear Erdem! Thanks a lot for your comment which is very much appreciated. We strongly recommend applying the required tightening torque successively by 1/3- or 1/4-turn increments starting with a screw of the user’s choice and then continuing clockwise to the next one. If screws are fastened reciprocally, there is a considerable risk that the shrink disc’s rings will not be positioned exactly parallel to each other. As a result, screws may be overloaded, and transmission of the needed torque may not be achieved sufficiently during operation.
