Having witnessed a number of interesting approaches to this roundabout in Alphington in Exeter, I decided to create a video with a few variations most of which you will see on a driving test route.

For Exeter-based Students who struggle with lane position on Countesswear roundabout.
clearly you don't understand what confused drivers from other countries, what you demontrasted here basically the same with a normal single roundabout, drivers don't understand is what is the prioirty when you have to cut into the traffic when other cars are already using one of these roundabouts.
You go past the Beefeater pub and the Premier Inn Hotel here. Not that I have been there as I live in Kent; but my parents stayed there in July 1995 whilst they were away there, and I remember us saying how nice it was at the time too of course. Thank you!
I have my test on Thursday I failed last time because of this one, fingers crossed 🤞
With this video is would help if it said about indication ?
If roundabout constructed in similar manner but without traffic lights system - would that work differently then? In terms of positioning to the outer lane (when we are given new lane choice after each bend/exit) right after penultimate exit approaching from the right turn lane?
Thank you so much, this is great, and you highlight all the important points however, it would be brilliant if you could drive onto Sandygate Roundabout from every entrance and take every exit as this roundabout is very scary.
Thank you for explaining this roundabout as I was 'beeped' the other day having positioned incorrectly going back to Topsham from Exeter and the Keep Clear signs and quick switch from 2 to 3 lanes it particulary difficult when you have never done it before and there's 3 articulated lorries obscuring the arrows on the road!
Please do one using Exe Bridges as it is always a nightmare for some.
Should you signal right on approach following signs for dawlish ?
3.10 If u signal right before passing the first roundabout, you will confuse other drivers that you are turning right in the first round about .
At 6.40 you entered the yellow box but your exit wasn't clear 😮😮
@@michaelmurray6176 DVSA driving essential skills says you should never enter a yellow box unless your exit is clear... what if the van had stalled? Not by any means saying you're wrong I might well be (I'm also an instructor, thanks for uploading the video it's great!). Ive seen it happen before on that very roundabout where a pupil assumes the exit would clear (heading up towards middlemoor) but someone ran out in the road in front of the car in front of us, they stopped forcing us to stop in the yellow box. Tricky topic for the best way to interpret the rules...

Could anybody please help me I have my hgv test coming up and was wondering if it is correct when approaching countess wear roundabout from bridge road turning right into topsham . As I turn right for topsham should I be in the left lane on approach to turning into topsham or should I use the second left due to the vehicle size?
Pot hole has been there more than a year, when will they mend it.
These are really helpful! I have my test here in a couple of weeks after moving from the Midlands and failing my test there a couple of times so I'm getting used to Exeter's crazy roundabouts!
