In this video, we'll go over Enzo Ferrari's upbringing and early career.
Enzo Ferrari was born on February 18, 1898, but according to the legend his father couldn’t travel to the town hall to report his birth until the 20th because of a snowstorm. In any case, he was born to Alfredo and Adalgisa Ferrari. Alfredo was one of the aforementioned Modena artisans. In September 1908, Alfredo took Enzo and his brother to their first race: the Circuito di Bologna. The sport was still taking shape. This event didn’t take place on a dedicated track. Rather, it took place on local roads that were closed down for the occasion. Said roads weren’t paved, either. Daring runabouts kicked rocks into the air and left choking clouds of dust in their wake.
He entered the Parma-Poggio di Berceto Hillclimb, which was to take place on October 5th, 1919. Finishing the race would be an achievement in itself. After all, he was a complete novice, and competition machines were temperamental things back then. Something was very likely to go wrong, especially with a car from an untested make. Fiats, Alfas, and Bugattis would also be competing. Considering this, his debut was rather strong. He finished 5th in the 3-liter class and 12th overall. A driver ahead of him got disqualified, which pushed Enzo a spot in both categories. This achievement and the subsequent prize money finally convinced his mother that there was a future in racing. Ugo Sivocci also competed and finished second overall, right behind the skilled Antonio Ascari.
Milan was home to Alfa Romeo, whose works team was on the rise. The talented duo of Antonio Ascari and Giuseppe Campari had great success behind the wheels of Alfas. Perhaps similar fortunes would be in store for Enzo if he had one.
He set up an appointment with company sales manager Giorgio Rimini with the intent of purchasing a car. Rimini took the meeting past a mere transaction. In addition to his responsibilities on the retail side, he was also the racing manager. Someone that plugged into the scene must’ve known about the exploits of Enzo Ferrari. Rimini saw immense potential in the young man and offered him a spot on the team as a junior driver.

Living in the Bay area in Northern CA, I owned a 1983 280ZX and it was the best car I ever had. A had a cool 1971 240Z before it. My 280ZX did over 130 MPH on the San Mateo bridge like a rocket ship with tight controlled handling. I put a new Moterola car phone in it in the arm rest. Working in outside sales at the time, it was one of the best decades of my life. I drove it for over 12 years and then sold it still running perfect. That car was the only car I ever had that spoke to me. It would say Fuel level is low, Right door is open, Left door is open, Parking brake is on, and lights are on. All useful audible warnings. Mine also had removable T-Tops. An Awesome car. ( Especially with my car phone in it. -- A NEW thing back then.)

I remember in middle school my parents were looking at both the LS400 and the Q45 and the Legend. I think the Q45 was just a bit too plain jane and they bought a new ‘93 LS400 and then a ‘96 GS300 then a ‘99 RX300 and had a few LS’s from then forward but mostly switching to BMW 5ers. I fondly remember the serenity the LS had. Amazing machine for its time. And still fond memories of the Q45, far less were seen at the drop off and pick ups at school. Seemed usually were the more “boring” parents. lol. But great memories in the few Lexus’ we had in the 90’s.

-I’m surprised the Italian Automobile Maker Alfa Romeo did not decide to go with, “Muncielago” (Italian for Bat) but Lamborghini beat them to it 2001 ( 51 years later). Seeing how Alfa Romeo built these automobiles back in the early 1950s they should have gone with that name instead. But, they were pretty funky looking designs for their day. Note though they were only “concept” cars that never went to production. Wonder if Bruce Wayne/Batman owned one of them?

It's kinda disappointing that the Prelude, especially the 3rd gen which was styled with similar design cues as the NSX, shared one of the designers, and was an entry level sports car along the vein of the other Japanese manufacturers products, was completely skipped over and ignored here. The only reference I see at all is a picture of the 88, only mentioning 4ws and not even saying the name Prelude. I think it was a missed opportunity. Otherwise, this is a great video with a lot of good info. Thanks

Answering the question: No, I don't consider it close to "the worst". It helps a lot to have been alive and aware of cars in that era. The visceral reaction was directly proportional to the fondness for the original S-30 platform. Nissan made the very smart move of changing the Z into a more comfortable tourer-type car while retaining KEY cosmetic aspects of the original. Those visual connections along with more comfort-aimed features helped the Z remain relevant even while becoming much less of a performer. People should understand that in the '70's and '80's, the US EPA single-handedly turned N. America into a "performance wasteland" across ALL makes/brands/models. To me, Nissan did not fully betray the inconic image of the Z car until the 1990 Z-32 design.

Wish I got to experience the car landscape chance, just getting into car sales - Antwerpen Nissan Clarksville, MD! - and get to drive the full range, coming from Ford as well (wild, history repeats itself, s/o the other person who had a similar experience) I’ve got to experience the Lightning pro, Mach E, Escape, hybrid Lincoln’s as well. Just started and am spoiling myself with test drives, product knowledge heh.. Titan XD fully specced is a pleasant surprise, 5.6 V8, selectable 4WD, AT Tires, spray in liner, adjustable trailer braking, 7/4 way connections, took it on and off a hill and it ate it right up. I felt guilty in the Lightning pro even trying lol, Ariya compared to Mach E is definitely more tamed, more “Luxe” with its interior materials, control layout, steering wheel, leg space in rear, and exterior design in person. Where Ford is a “Mustang” Mach E, more focused on long distance commute (both have 40 min to 80% fast charging, Mach E has 250 standard and 310 extended, Ariya comes with 289 range) tbh if it was me, the area dictates the look of the car so pick your hotwheel I guess but Ariya has better rebates 109 combined mpg to i think it was 105? No difference truly you’re saving like 205 in gas per mo? Compared to a 1.5 ‘19 Accord??? Like??? Lease is crazy cheap, 500 is the new “low” for used or new with trade in and decent credit, so honestly why not save a bit or even eat up neg eq
