    Very helpful video. I didn't know I needed to look at range on the dimmer switch or that dim-to-warm was a thing, because I have been really disappointed with my dimmed LEDs. They just make the room grey, so I haven't moved from incandescent in TV room yet, though I would love to.

    How to choose the right bulb quickly and easily. Go into your garage, get in your Time Machine, set it for 1988, now go to the store and buy about 1,000 light bulbs of different wattages, go back 'Home' and start enjoying what's left of your 'Today' kind of life." I hope you picked up some fruits and vegetables while you were back in 88. It seems all of our new ideas about growing food have totally destroyed our once fantastic produce! "What's that crunch I just heard? and why are you crying?" You say you're crying tears of joy over the fantastic flavor of your 1988 apple? Plus you're lightbulbs were so easy to shop for. Wasn't it a great trip? I know, I know, some things ARE better now. I just miss being able to buy a bulb without taking a class. It gave us time for things like, Loving our family, our home, ( Back when home was more than just an investment to be flipped ) What a Great world we have created, with our shiny new open minds that tell us to allow our kids to tell us to go F ourselves, and then, give them a time out....instead of them loosing an eye! Yeeeee Hawwwwww!!!! I'm ready for all the, "What does all this have to do with buying lightbulbs?" I almost feel bad that you are soon going to be able to put things like this together.( Eventually you'll love it. But it'll be bumpy at first.) You have been conditioned to ACT like you don't get it......and that people like me are knuckle scraping cave dwellers. You have no idea how sorry people like me are about all this. You're probably better off learning about lumins vs watts for a while yet....Or how about, how pencil erasers can save the rain forests if only used once a day------at most.... Have fun. Be careful. We'll be friends someday. Hey, watch your language!!! You'll see, we will.

    So, I want to make me a 144 Led Unit/m, 120cm TL tube, which gives light (Lumen) as much as an old 150w Osram spotlightbulb. What specification do the LEDs need to be, knowing there be around 170 LED units in 120cm, what power source will I need? Thank you.

    • @gudrune
      @gudrune Před 8 měsíci

      if you use an LED strip, it will pull c.15W/m if you take something good and bright. The best led strips output 160-180lm/m, it's common for good ones to output c.120lm. LED strips can run on 5v, 12, 24, 120 or 220v, so you need to choose the power supply accordingly. for 1.2 meters or led strips, you would need under 20W, so if you take a 30W PSU, you're fine. If you happen to use 24V strips, for eg, you could use a 24V 1.5A PSU. Watts = V x A

    Hi, this is a great video, thank you! I am doing a little research in order to buy lamps for my apartment and as far as I understood I should choose 2700K for living room and bedroom, however I would like to have a brighter light in the kitchen and in the hall because I do not like the yellow light at night when I am cooking, which made me think to buy a 4000K light bulb for both kitchen and hall. However on the end of your video you mentioned that we should stick with only one color temperature. Does that mean that I should also buy 2700K light bulbs for the kitchen and hall?

    • @eleanorbell
      @eleanorbell Před rokem

      Hi Gabriel, there are no hard and fast rules, but I suggest sticking to the same colour temperature within a room as otherwise it can jar the eye But if you prefer whiter white (4000K) for the kitchen and hall, go for it. That would work even if you have warmer whites in the living room and bedrooms.

    • @eleanorbell

    • @eleanorbell
      @eleanorbell Před rokem

      Yes, a dimmer with a minimum load of 60W will be too high for just 3 led bulbs (unless they are at least 20W each). Your best option is probably to change the dimmer switch. If you’re in the UK check out the Varilight V-Pro range - their dimmers have a minimum load of 0W.

I bought a box of each. One is the A21 the other A19. The only difference I found was the A21 is a bit larger. They both are clear 1600 lumens. Wow! what a difference. Will be replacing all our bath room bulbs. They both dimmed with my 10 year old dimmers. They cannot be told apart as to brightness. Very happy!!!!

    Thanks for this. Really good video. Glad I found it as I'm looking at getting this type of light fighting installed. For the extention it will go straight onto plasterboard before skimming. But in the other rooms it will go into an existing celeing that's already plasterboard and skimmed/painted. My plans are to get the celeing reskimmed anyway. Do you think these will be OK for that purpose. Thanks and I really enjoyed your other videos as well.

      They are designed to be fitted onto plasterboard before you skim the ceiling. Peeling off existing plaster might damage the ceiling so it may be better to get someone to reskim the whole ceiling afterwards.

    I have a question before I order any more bulbs. I must have a "burning white hot" light in my reading lamp. I find The Philips 100 watt standard bulb meets that need. It is a standard base, clear 1490 lumens. It is referred to as a dimmable sparkling bulb. Problem is it is not an LED and tends to flicker and burn out often. Can you tell me the LED you would replace this with?

    • @eleanorbell
      @eleanorbell Před rokem

      Replace it with an LED bulb that is the eqivalent lumens (around 1490 lumens) and make sure it the same colour temperature. It sounds like you are refering to a daylight bulb (5500-6000K) but I can't tell without looking at it.

  • @simweiliangwilliam8801

    Can I know what is the wattage for Led bulb of a 23watts compact Fluorescent light bulb daylight E27 cap bulb 💡

    • @eleanorbell
      @eleanorbell Před rokem

      Lumens is a more reliable comparison as the wattage of the bulbs is reducing as the bulbs become more efficient. (See my video on watts vs lumens czcams.com/video/j1n1MEX8PFw/video.html). A 23 watt CFL bulb is around 1600 lumens. That will be about an 14-20W LED bulb today, but that will change with time. Look at the lumens on your daylight E27 CFL bulb and then find the equivalent lumens on a daylight E27 LED bulb.
