      Sorry - wish i could give you an educated answer on this. The Muncie 4 speeds are notorious for this. The C2 has actuators so it is a little different. You may want to check out the posts here. One of the best uses of the CMD HD is its ability to backup the entire contents of a RAMLink to a so-called "Foreign Partition"... so just in case your RAMLink ever loses its power and, therefore, its content, you *can* restore it from the HD... depending on how often you make a backup.

  • @LordHasenpfeffer

    I still have the HD-100 I bought new in the mid/late-1990s. It still works well too (for now). Regardless, I seriously want this upgrade done for it but I'm not the one to do the hardware parts. Wondering to whom, to where and how best to send it.

    • @revivingretro
      @revivingretro Před 23 dny

      You may want to try one of the Commodore forums out there and find someone in your area that has a good reputation with repairs. This would not be a costly retrofit in terms of labor and I believe the zuluSCSI board was around $50usd for the unassembled version or around $80usd assembled

  • @Noxoreos
    @Noxoreos Před 2 měsíci

    I like seeing such upgrades to machines. But it is always unsatisfactory, when there isn't any demo in the end of the same video that shows hot it actually performs. Telling how sturdy it feels is is very subjective not an actual result at the end of the day. Most people promise cutting demos in later videos and oftentimes by then they realize it not to perform as expected and then the promised demo never comes because the project is abandoned. Looks like that promised demo never showed up here either.

  • @michaelcloutier2225
    @michaelcloutier2225 Před 2 měsíci

    You had all the chips out so you should have tested ALL OF THEM first.

    • @revivingretro
      @revivingretro Před 2 měsíci

      I understand where you're coming from, but I try not to do this on videos I make because I like to follow a sequence and show the different screen results for each bad chip along the way. If I wasn't doing a video, these repairs would take me less than half the time since I would just use my oscilloscope - that wouldn't be any fun. :)

    • @revivingretro
      @revivingretro Před 2 měsíci

      Not much to the controller - just 4 screws on the back (www.theoldrobots.com/zpcbd2.html) - the joystick mechanism is encapsulated in a small sealed box though. You could always try cracking it open and possibly gluing it back together once you fix the internal issue. These controllers pop up on Ebay periodically. You could also try a little electronic cleaner to see if you can work it loose.
