    Beautiful work...wish you were near me in Jersey for install. Question, how do you get this large tile up to the 2nd or 3rd floor? Is it manually with several people up the stairs or you use a lift through a window? How does that practically get up there?

    Do you ever mix the thin-set mortar with a higher water ratio than specified in the TDS because manufacturers call for a looser consistency for embedding the mat than normal?

    • @TileProUSA
      @TileProUSA Před měsícem

      @@pawelkulak7133 in the U.S. most manufacturers specify water ratio for different applications from non-slump on the walls to membranes installation. However, some manufacturers, like Laticrete, do have problems with their water ratio recommendations, so that most installers know from experience that it is necessary to add more water than the TDS of the particular product suggests. To the best of my knowledge, most thin-set mortars in the U.S. manufactured by Mapei, Ardex, TEC, Uzin, Schluter, Custom Building Products, and others don't have that problem

    I would to install Dekton slabs for my bathroom remodel from a tub to a shower conversion. What is your experience in regards to the thickness (most durable) that is best used for the shower walls and the shower tray? I would like to use matte slabs for the shower walls. Would you know if the matte slabs are as easy to clean as the gloss slabs. Also, are there instructions on how to cut and install these slabs for my contractor? Are the slabs readily available in the United States?

    Garvage material, it brake so easily that if you need 2 slabs for the proyect, just start thinking about buying at least 3 because most likely one is going to break. Plus you can’t polish the edges, the only way to make them look good is by doing a 45 cut and glue a return on it. There is other much more resistent materials that can be polished saving a lot of labor.

    • @TileProUSA
      @TileProUSA Před 4 měsíci

      Kerapoxy CQ epoxy grout & mortar is similar to Laticrete's Spectralock Pro except for the latter cannot be used to create such a mitered edge due to it's larger grains.

He was unaware that marble had to be sealed but i caught it before it was an issue and sealed it. Is the discoloration something i have to have them pull it all up and fix or can i live with the color issue or will it get worse and cost me more later?

    • @TileProUSA
      @TileProUSA Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you for sharing your opinion. As opposed to framed half walls XPS pony wall provides a monolithic waterproof structure that has less then 1/16" wiggle before tile is installed and feels like rock after it's finished with large format porcelain. Your comment indicates your lack of personal experience and/or technical information on this subject.

    • @billsnyder6945
      @billsnyder6945 Před 4 měsíci

      @@TileProUSA maybe i am wrong, I have not calculated anything, but I could not trust such an adhesive type connection in shear and doubt it would pass any framing inspection in my area. Does Wedi support such use?

    • @TileProUSA
      @TileProUSA Před 4 měsíci

      @@billsnyder6945 such pony wall is a decorative design element added to contain water and place where to put a recessed niche. Sealant alone, even with no meshtape on the sides, will make such pony wall feel sturdier than a similar wall framed with 2×4 and covered with cement board. You are simply unfamiliar with what XPS and sealant could do.

    NICE WORK! Ever run into an issue where 24"x24" tiles are actually 23 5/8"x23 5/8"? They are slightly smaller than the kerdi shower pan and I'm looking to do an envelope cut with 4 24"x24" tiles with the square center drain. I think I'm going to have to cut the pan down but 1/4" all sides and make sure the rough framing is based off that rather than the original shower pan size but it's such a small amount. Be nice if they just made the 24"x24" tiles true to size.

    Thank you so much for this video - we are looking to use large format tiles and went to a store today who told us our bathroom was too small and it was impossible as it would require removal of the roof and four people to move the tiles. I tried explaining that didn't seem right and the sales woman just told me she had 30 years experience and I didn't know what I was talking about. Our bathroom appears about the same size (it's a shower and toilet room like this) approx 1500cm by 1750cm by 2400cm high with a 620cm door way - is this similar to this one (if you happen to see the comment) would love to hear any advice or thoughts (obviously we will hire a tiler but she literally told me don't even bother calling them as they answer will be no).
