    @GMITLABEL2013 Před 4 lety

    Hi, John here. I'm really not sure what you are referring to as "printing half of the pack of labels". It's either printing half a roll of labels or "half the label itself". I'll assume you mean the printer is only printing "half the label". To print a label some software package has to tell the printer what to print. In that software there is generally a label setup tab and a label page setup tab. these MUST be set correctly. In both they should ask what the width size will be and what the height size will be. So if you are printing a 4" x 2" label, the width should be 4.0", the height should be 2.0". Let's say by mistake you reverse the two and made the width 2" and the height 4", the printer would then only let you print 2" of your reading matter and cutting off the other half. The reason is that you told the printer your label was only 2" wide. Summary; check you labels and page size setting to make sure those are correct. Also, if it also ask for "margin size" always list that at"0" zero.

    Hi! I need to print location labels with a bar code. I need to print a lot at once, I don't want to print one at a time. I need to print out a list of 9 digit numbers/letters, 1 per label, each containing a bar code for said numbers/letters. What is the best way to go about this? Thank You!!!

    • @GMITLABEL2013
      @GMITLABEL2013 Před 5 lety

      Hi Asriel, you can do what you described but you need to watch two videos: 1: Linking Databases to a label through DesignPro Software and 2. Linking Barcodes to database. Both videos are on my CZcams channel and website (www.gmitlabel.com).Basically you need to establish a database, this would be the variable information that will change with in a label format. Items like part numbers, barcodes, quanitity, size...etc. Once that is done you then need to setup a label format. The label format will be formatted with the variable information you may want in the label. Once you have done those two item you then need to link the label format to the database. Once you have successfully linked them, then it's just a matter of selecting the label info you want printed and the quantity, then print it.You can select 50 label records and print 10,000 of each or 25 records and 50 of each.Sounds simple, it isn't if you haven't done it before. Hence the reason for the VIDEOS, it's too complicated to explain by typing out a message. Watch the videos and start your trial and error.

    Hi, good video, is there a way to connect the printer to a database like Oracle?

    • @GMITLABEL2013
      @GMITLABEL2013 Před 5 lety

      The short answer is yes! I don't get into those areas because I'm not an IT guy or programmer and I don't want the responsibility. However the biggest supplier of corporate software system is Oracle and SAP. Both can be interfaced with stand alone printers, ie: office printers, cad printers, barcode printers like Zebra...etc. However Oracle and SAP can only download predetermined information that is already being collected in their systems.As an example, customer service enters an order using Oracle, that info is now in the system. Oracle can provide a print module (patch, notepad) to manufacturing and place it on their pc. With that module, manufacturing can then print labels for part identification, shipping...etc. using a Zebra, Brother, HP printer(s).Your IT person need to contact Oracle an simply tell them in detain what it is they want to accomplish. They (you) need to know what information you want printed, what printer you'll be using and the label size you prefer. Oracle and the IT person can then work out all the details. The language that the Zebra printer communicate in is ZPL.

    Is there a search function you can use when you're selecting what labels you want to print?

    • @GMITLABEL2013
      @GMITLABEL2013 Před 5 lety

      Hi Jeff, the simple answer is not that I'm aware of. The reason may be, because selecting a "label" is simple.If you do mean label you have to be in your label formatting package(?). All you do is click "file open" and select your label. It's that easy.If you are referring to the database, you have to first have the label you want open and on screen. With the label open click "file" "print", a tab opens up for you to select what record or records you want to print. You can 1, 2, 3.... or all, then hit print.Like you I use search functions a lot. However, when printing labels, because it's so easy to select a label, I never really thought about a "search" function.

    • @GMITLABEL2013
      @GMITLABEL2013 Před 5 lety

      Megan, not sure what you're referring? By cero do you mean zero? When you ask about taking out are you referring to fields in Excel or Zebra Design Pro? If it's Design Pro just go to the field and plug in your twelve numbers. If you want the field to be blank (I'd have to double check this) convert the field to a text box and empty it. Hopefully this helps.

      Hi Fred, there's a number of software packages eg: BarOne, Bartender, CodeSoft, Easy Label, Zebra Designer Pro...etc. I'd say go with the Zebra Designer Pro. It's inexpensive, will print barcodes, graphics, straight reading matter in many fonts. You can also interface databases with it.I have a couple of videos on my CZcams site demonstrating the Zebra Design Pro, you might want to take a look at them. If at all possible buy the package with the CD, forget that download crap from the internet. Lots of luck.John

    can I connect it to MAC or not

    • @GMITLABEL2013
      @GMITLABEL2013 Před 6 lety

      I've never connected a Zebra printer to a Mac, but I don't see why you can't. In order to print labels you need the printer, the correct print drivers (that comes with the printer for you to install on you computer) and you need label formatting software. The label formatting software has to be for the Mac (whatever OS version you have). It's the software that communicates between the printer and the computer.

  • @sizzlechooch

    I'm new to all these label printers. But I thought with this particular model, or with any "direct" thermal printer, that you don't need to use a/the ribbon

    • @GMITLABEL2013
      @GMITLABEL2013 Před 6 lety

      Hi Joe, most of the higher end Zebra printers can be operated either Direct Thermal (no ribbon) or thermal transfer (with a print ribbon). The ZT220 is direct thermal (no print ribbon) however it can be upgraded to thermal transfer (using a print ribbon), at that point it becomes a ZT 230. It can operate as Direct or Thermal Transfer. The easiest way to tell is to see if it has a print ribbon feed and take up spindle. If not then it's direct thermal only. Hopefully that answers your question.

    Mohamed, I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but Excel can not interface directly to the Zebra Printer and make the printer print. The program languages are completely different. In order to make the Zebra Printer print you either need a label formatting software package like Design Pro or a programmer needs to write a format in Zebra's zpl language that's interface with your database.

    • @GMITLABEL2013
      @GMITLABEL2013 Před 6 lety

      Okay, the picture is getting a little clearer. Apparently you want to ship packages using DHL. To do that you need a label. I have not used DHL but I have to assume they are the same as UPS and FedEx?You can't just format a label for DHL, I'm talking about the barcodes, tracking numbers , maxicodes...etc. That all gets assigned by DHL.With any shipping company like DHL, FedEx or UPS you have one of two ways to ship packages. You either take the packages to one of their service centers and they will handle it from there. Or you contact the company of your choice, in your case DHL, and sign up to ship packages from your location. They come to your establishment and pick the packages up. Once you are signed up they will tell you how to download their shipping software into your computer. Once that is successfully done you will have to select what printer you will be using to print the labels and the size of the label. When and IF that is done successfully shipping packages is easy. You weigh, size the package, enter the shipping information into their format and simply click "Process Shipment". BAM- you get a label! They will automatically know to come and pick up the package.The best thing for you to do is contact DHL and sign up if that is what you want to do. They should have (like UPS & FedEx) the technical staff to assist you in setting up the system and achieving communications with your computer and printer.

      Not really, I don't deal in Dymo Thermal Printers. Although I do know that the Dymo units are for small core label rolls (5" dia roll) 1" cores. The units are mainly desktops for light duty applications. They can be bought as direct thermal or thermal transfer (using a print ribbon) unit. The communications are generally usb but can be bought with Ethernet & wireless. They would be similar to Zebra GK & GX units.

    Hi Rachel, I'm assuming you're talking about Zebra Design Pro? If so, no I couldn't find any way to turn on or set up a text box with "text wrapping". I had to double check because my primary label formatting software does have text wrapping. However the cost of that package is more than double that of the Zebra Design Pro.I even made the text box variable with a maximum length of 10 characters. I did this thinking that if I loaded 20 characters it would automatically bump to a second line. It didn't, it only took the first ten characters and dropped the rest.I guess for now text wrapping will have to be hitting the enter button.

      I'm assuming you have a Z4M Plus? When you close the head it should click and lock into place. When that happens to it closes an open circuit and the error message should disappear. Make certain that it is clicking and locking into place when you close it. Check the point of contact to make certain that the metal to metal contact is being made and that the locking device is holding it into place. When you close the head and it locks into place, there should be no play.

That assembly is disconnected by loosening the bolts from inside of the other side of the machine, where the CPU boards are. It's not an impossible job but it is cumbersome.John
