To get a 20 pound turkey to cook evenly it's a good idea to spatchcock it, which flattens it out. It's also a good idea to stay away from the area while the chef is doing this because it involves a lot of cussing.

the folks in the comments complaining about this, have never owned a cat that consistently mats, no matter how often you brush. also, according to their logic, a person such as myself shouldn’t own a cat/give the cat up for adoption….over hair. hair that, if matted, the shelter would also shave off. hair that the new owners would likely shave off too once it mats again….so….where’s the win?

Our hypothesis about this is that the negative reaction is to the scent of where the shaved kitty has just been -- the veterinarian's office, where the work was done. While we didn't have anything this hostile with the two cats we had shaved once a year, we noticed that those who were the most unhappy to see them were the ones who didn't fare well at the veterinarian's office.

Cat's don't need to be shaved unless they're having an operation, their fur is matted or they have skin issues like eczema.

Poor guy. Shaving a cat seems severe and a ' trim ' would probably have sufficed.
Oh, no. The only time you should shave a cat is of there's matting. Shaving them because you feel like it is not good. The cat is used to being covered in fur and feeling nice and warm and can actually get hypothermia from shivering if in cold envoroment. It throws their natural whole body off. It's mean to do this to them.
