Hey guys. welcome to the next fish where you can catch all my Gold Coast fishing sessions!
Trolling for spanish mackerel (Gold Coast)
G'day guys, I thought id upload this session filmed the week prior to the Spanish mackerel closer. As we have the closer ending for about 5 days here's what worked for us. we used deep diving Strada and Samaki Lures with all the action happening within the first 10 mins of having the lures in the water. We had the moon setting right as the sun was rising which equals a hot bite. We were trolling on Burleigh reef and spinning on palm beach reef. hope you enjoy the episode and manage to learn a thing or two

Great stuff 👏 👍 looks good.
Nice one 👍
Great video! What electric motor are you using? Cheers
Thanks mate, it’s a Minn Kota
Spanish are fun. Caught a bunch in 1.5 hours about a week ago, stopped counting at 30.
Stopped counting after 30! What a weapon!
@@thenextfishWhen they come into the Fort Myers Florida area this time of year, they come in huge schools. If you find them, they are a ton of fun. We get spanish and kings here...not the other kind.
GO CHECK OUT EMERSONS FISHING ADVENTURES PLEASE
Isn't there a Spanish ban right now?
Yes there is a ban on atm which opens on Thursday. I filmed the episode the week prior to the start of close season, just uploaded it today 🎣
Fresh fish for the fam 🙌
Was a great feed! Not fresh anymore haha
What a morning!!
Silver spoons, drops mic

That snapper is a bloody ripper mate! Shame about the mackie though. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah a solid fish for midday! We lost 5 spots on pink spinners on palmy before changing plans. Well worth a crack
which rapala model and size?
The old caught it on plastics with a snell rig. 😂
Haha first one on float line second one on the plastic 🙌🏼
oooo nice catching 😅
Thanks for watching
That was a king not a Spanish Mackeral. Nice
We call them Spanish mackerel here in Australia 🇦🇺
Do you ever free line live baits
Gday mate, no I haven’t free lined live bait for Jew fish as they typically sit hard on the bottom unless there’s slack tide then they move around a bit more in the water column. I do float line live baits for other fish tho, depending on the season
Hhhhbb
Anyone else get a real Adam Scott vibe from him
Great catch mate, any chance of sharing your numbers please,as I’m new to the Gold Coast and have no idea of what’s where , I currently reside at Upper Coomera any help would be great appreciated cheers
Best tasting Whiting 😊
Mad❤

Float lined Pilly was a cobia
Do you think so Geoff ?there was no stopping what ever it was
@@thenextfish not much else around that will do that except a big tuna maybe. Given the numbers of cobia around now my money would be on one of them
epic!!!!
Nice art!
Epic Timmy 🫡🎣
Did you find the dead baits swim much better with dougies new rig?
Yeah I rate them, just got the pilly down a bit deeper and gave it a good wobble
We all have days like that Timmy.
Can i join?
What a catch!! He even lives to tell the tail. Heard a couple of blokes rolled their boat Thursday. Can you eat Spanish Mackrel sashimi style?
Gday Jordan, it makes for tremendous sashimi! Yes scary stuff ! Definitely need to time the seaway these days
Was out there early in the week no strikes Water temp was only showing 22.5 on sounder Maybe some good days next week Fingers crossed 🤞🤞
Gday mate, really ? My sounder was reading 25.5 so hopefully it’s just the start 🎣 how’d you go coming back in across the bar?
Came back early before the run out had to go to work
Great footage
Iron jaw
Not a flamie.
Epic
This looks epic! Can’t wait for the next ep
What size is your main line? Mono or braid?
Gday mate, I run 50 pound braid onto 60 pound mono as a leader. You get more bites that way
@@thenextfish thanks mate.
Hi.. what size is your main line? Mono or braid?
Hey mate! I live in Mudgereeba. Would love to chase a feed, where abouts is this on the southern end of the GC?
Gday Aaron, I catch a few at summer around Currumbin creek area along the banks
Nice catch. What reef you fishing at?
cheers Luca that's on the bait reefs of the seaway. in close
@@thenextfish thanks for the reply, I appreciate the information. I’m new to the area so getting my bearings. So you’re talking about the Scottish Prince Wreck?
@@lucamiceli3409 not the Scottish prince although I do think there would be jew fish on that mark. Just look for a group of boats jigging bait and go over there and drop a live bait to the bottom with the same rig I use on the episode. You should stop into Doug Burt’s tackle world and have a chat to the boys there they have a lot of gps marks to get you started 🎣 great fishing gear there too
Nice work mate I enjoy the videos. I was out today also and got lucky enough on 3 snaps 45 and under. I’m just curious as I was using the same technique today, do you spot lock when doing this or were you just drifting? Also will you just keep your bail arm open until you get a hit or will you lock it off at some point? Cheers mate 👍🏻
Nice work! On the 18’s? I leave the bail arm open while I’m letting the pillie drift down as I want it to look as natural as possible. You’ll see I let the line run through my fingers so I can feel when a fish has picked it up, then I lock the bail arm over. I use spot lock with the electric once I work out the current speed
@@thenextfish yeah mate I was just on the 18s yesterday. Yeah ok cool do you run a swivel on your rig as well?
@@natekiem5787 I don’t use a swivel I just use a joining knot to the braid (as natural as possible)
@@thenextfish I might try that next time also, good opportunities this week 👍🏻
