How do they compare? 2009 Aston Martin DB9 vs 2021 Mustang Mach 1.
As a Mach 1 owner I'm always interested in how it stacks up against other cars. A friend of mine that runs the @dadcars channel has had this Aston for a while, although now it's been sold to @JayEmmOnCars - but when the video was shot, it was still Ben's and we swopped the Mach 1 for the DB9 for a couple of days, and this comparison is the result!
There's a lot between them in terms of years, and price, but when new the Aston was a lot more expensive, so I'm looking forward to running them head to head and seeing how they compare.

Welcome to Driven Floored. So the day has come that I say goodbye to the Bitter SC. As it's on the way I've taken the chance to run through the five things I like and five I don't, about this extraordinary car. This cool German and Italian mix was designed and brought to market by Enrich Bitter and his team as a competitor for the BMW 635csi and the Jaguar XJS. I'm a fan but sadly there's not a...
Supra MK4 manual - How to fix too much exhaust drone / test drive.

My Toyota Supra Mk4 has been incredible, I've been surprised how much I have grown to love this thing! The main mechanical issue was the exhaust and I have finally got round to finding a fix. Since I got it the exhaust had a bad booming sound, not in a good way. There was just a lot of drone inside the car between about 2000 and 4000 revs. This video explains what we did to solve that problem. ...

    I absolutely loved these since the first time I saw one in an edition of Fast Lane magazine back in the first half of the 80s. Yes, the design isn't quite right (a bit too much crown on the bonnet for example) but they have such a lovely presence and symbolise almost everything about that decade in one fell swoop.

    The Bitter SC is definitely a unique head-turner. We've had #568 in our possession since 1987 and currently at about 25,000 miles on it. We don't drive it often and years of sitting idle does cause some things to get problematic, but mostly my fault for not staying on top of things. There's a great network of experts in the out there who can help you with any problems you run into. Getting parts is not too bad, but some of them can get pricey, especially the glass and body parts. Lots of GM, Opel and other parts in the car. Porsche also got involved with helping Bitter address heating issues that plagued early models, the engine bay would get so hot that some of the parts would melt!

    I have a 1988 XJS Hess & Eisenhardt convertible that actually shipped with black vinyl on the ski slope. I like how yours turned out and the material grain looks perfect! My question is, its been a year and a half... how has the adhesive lasted? any peeling or bubbling? Would you recommend that material in a dry, hot environment? (Arizona USA) Thanks! - Eric

    • @DrivenFloored
      @DrivenFloored Před 2 měsíci

      Hi Eric, that’s interesting I didn’t know such a car existed :) the work has lasted very well, honestly looks as good as the day I fitted it. Arizona is another question! We had a few weeks with temps at late 80s last summer and through the winter it’s often freezing but I know that’s not the kind of heat you get there. Maybe if the car is often in direct sunlight it could end up causing damage but I’ve been very impressed with it so far.

    I'm doing a lot of research into the cost of ownership of a Mach1 and I'm delighted at the cost of the service. I do have a couple of questions if I may... 1. Was that a minor or major service? And given you went to Hendy Performance, how do their orices compaire to a standard Ford service centre? 2. What is your average cost of petrol and do you run it on normal unleaded or super unleaded? Cheers and enjoy the car!! (I hope to be doing so soon, fingers crossed...)

    • @DrivenFloored
      @DrivenFloored Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks for the comments, and yes I was surprised at the first service cost. Ford tell me its the 4th service that's the biggest, I'm unlikely to experience that as I'm exploring moving out of the Mach 1. Honestly not for any negative reasons, and I think it will be hard to find an alternative that does everything this does but I like to change things up and I have now had it for almost two years, so after it's second year service, which will be about 16k miles in total early March, I'll be letting it go. I'm currently exploring the options! As far as the Hendy question, I understand the costs would be the same, or at least very similar. On the fuel side I've used both and am not convinced I see much difference. Over the almost 16k miles of ownership, with a mix of driving with a very heavy right foot and some cruising, I have apparently averaged 22mpg, which is a little better than I was expecting. Hope that helps, and if you want to buy a much loved Mach 1 like mine let me know ;)

I can honestly say in my opinion the XJ saloons are still one of the best looking cars on the road, even by todays standards the XJ range can still show a thing or two, to so called modern prestige cars when it comes to ride/handling compromise. In France, the SCHLABOUBVE regulates that fossil vehicles that produce fine dust are prohibited in all cities from 2025. Ford (and it's performance guys) engineered the HECK out of this last-of-the-S550s Mach1. What a great swan song for this run of cars from 2015-2023! Of course, time marches on, and just like in 1970, changes are on the horizon for 2024. Now, the 1971 Mustang was no doubt a larger "sea-change" than this S650 will be, but just like in the early 70s, as we move into 2024,5,6+ ....the Shelby GT350s, the Mach1s, Bullitts, and the GT PPL2 cars will be honored and remembered as some of the BEST driver's cars of a generation. The Magnaride alone transforms this Mustang V-8/rear drive platform into a world class runner. And most importantly, everyone who bought one of the above mentioned models with be told they were GENIUSES for pulling the trigger at $50,000, $55,000, $60,000 for these cars and their technology and capabilities..... because I tell you the same equipment and driving experience will ONLY be in the Dark Horse (500hp and Tremec 6-spd) AND those Dark Horses will MSRP at $67-75,000 before 1st year dealer markups of 1,3, and $5,000 minimum! IF you've bought a GT350, Bullitt, or Mach1 then you are part of the greatest generation of muscle car/sport car owners as far as Ford cars are concerned, congrats. It only gets "more tech-y" and less "driver engaging" from here on out, sadly. I bought my Mach1 the day after I saw the 2 IPads glued to the new, weird, asymmetric dash layout of the 2024 cars. I dont even like the air vent shape and layout in the new car. And a squarish wheel hub on a round steering wheel? A little too "Transformers" for me.
