There's a popular camera/cinematographer/etc CZcamsr who says you won't be able to make a narrative movie with the upcoming Canon C400. He says it'll be for documentary films. You need a Red or Arri for a narrative film, i.e. a movie. Can someone explain this to me? Kind of lost respect for him since he didn't go into why and it seems like people just talk out of their a** half the time.

I've watched this video a few times and now I'm finally commenting to say that this documentary and a few other things have inspired me to write my own film. Not sure if I'll be able to do it how you did it (finance it myself, etc), BUT this is so helpful and insightful into how it workds. I've been out of university for 3 years, so I am very very rusty

Our ears have no way of knowing which direction that sound is coming from. It's interesting that it's kind of the same thing with an overhead shot here. Disorienting. That was a new idea for me!

I tell this to people all the time. Storytelling is infinitely important. Same with a book. You can have great grammar, word usage, literary devices, and so forth. However, if it's a lousy story it doesn't matter. Many great authors had great editors who cleaned up their grammar and so forth. These authors were great storytellers.
