the moisture results in curving the cards depending on how its foiled. The reason is that the moisture enters the non-foiled side of the card but not the foiled side. this results in the cardboard expanding slightly on the non-foiled side which makes the surface area greater on that side but not the foiled side, which results in a curve. I suspect that it could retract over time. The best option for me was to leave the strap off while on the shelf and only use the strap when in travel for a short period of time.

Thank you for the insight! I am curious how could it be that some Aris Deserts have the 180 degree flip and some don't? I don't know enough about the printing process to guess.

@@TedsBasementPodcast My guess is that the sheet with the flipped lands was only in production for a short time. Most likely because the error was caught and corrected early.

I own both now. They have worked out solid for me. I do wish they had a bit more room in the binding for when they get really full of cards, but other than that, I have no other feedback for them at this point in time.

It's all relative. The ordinary beta foils are likley rarer than Alpha Unique non foils.

I purchased these over 10 years ago at my LGS. I don't recall if zippered binders were a thing then. I don't remember seeing a better option. I remember thinking this was a huge advancement because it didn't have rings and pages that fell out like the old school ring binders. Also, the plastic didn't bend right away in the store. It took time on the shelf full of cars to allow the strap to slowly indent into the plastic before I noticed it. I'm all in now on zippered Ringless Binders. The few of these I have left don't use the strap anymore so no future problems can take place.

It should fit all standard sized trading cards.

These are good zippers. I've never seen one jam yet. It's possible, but in 20+ binders over many years, I have not experienced that.

I don't own any of those 4x4 paged binders so I can't speak to it. I never purchased them due to their size.

They do if enough pages are opened to put enough weight on both sides of the binder to hold it open.

Thanks for your quick reply,I recently bought a vaultx 4 pocket binder but some of the people said they've noticed spine bulging, I'm not an expert but I think it's normal. It has to be flexible,I,"ll try to send you a picture to see what I mean.

I've been collecting magic for many, many years, so I feel you there. I don't think it has to be one or the other. You could just get the precons and a mat to try the game and don't have to set magic down.

Lol, no. Unfortunately, I don't think it exists yet. I do gravitate towards the zippered Ringless Binder styles. But they too have drawbacks like not enough material in the binding, which results is the risk of bending cards over time. It also depends on how many cards you put inside and what type of cards as some are thicker. And other variables. But I use them anyway because I think they are the least of two evils.

Sorcery printed Alpha to demand. They literally waited for all the kickstarter boxes to be ordered and printed to that demand. So in theory it could have been the right amount. 1993 mtg amd 2023 sorcery are two very different things. The environment is different, what people know about tcgs is different. I am just not sure that the past will be an indicator of the future in this case. We will see.

and i am not sure 29k has been officially confirmed, like others said, but i can be wrong.

If the KS was printed to demand (and maybe a little extra), then I feel like the 29k is close.

@@TedsBasementPodcastyeah, we calculated it pretty accurately on the channel, i think, based on the KS numbers, which are public. it really should be around that number, if there are no crazy factors that weigh in unexpectedly. 👊🏻
